Could Lamar be going to our division rival?
Ricky Spanish replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
You guys are sleeping on Atlanta. Them landing Lamar only hurts us in many ways - By them getting a franchise QB to go with their HC who by all accounts seems to be solid, a young offensive core with a stud young TE, and the second most Cap space in the league. Not to mention this would probably put Baltimore at #8 with draft capital to be able to move up and take any QB they want. We'd have to sell the farm to get to #1 that way. I think best case scenario is we trade to #3 with AZ who are rebuilding and could use a haul of picks and take the last QB remaining between Levis, Young and Stroud. -
Carr is the new Stafford. His efficiency stats are scarily similar to those of Stafford in Detroit. I really think he'll do great in a new situation. But I think you aren't giving Jimmy enough credit. Yes, the SF situation is better than Oakland. However, if it were as amazing as everyone seems to think it is, then ANY QB could thrive in that system, however only Jimmy G and Brock Purdy seem to be able to do it. SF Records of QBs not named Jimmy or Brock (And not trey lance due to him only playing like 3 games): Hoyer 0-6 Beathard 2-10 Mullens 5-11 And their individual stats SUCK. Look, I'm not saying Jimmy doesn't have his warts, I'm just saying you and this collective fanbase are propping up the 49ers with some extreme recency bias and neglecting the fact that until Purdy came along, any QB that wasn't Jimmy played like crap in that "FAR better Situation". I'm not saying we should 100% sign him, I'm just saying he's probably more of an option than people realize, he'd be cheaper, and his play is on par with Carr's.

Player A: TD% - 4.4 INT% - 2.0 Y/A - 7.1 AY/A - 7.1 Y/C - 11.0 Y/G - 248 Rat - 91.8 Player B: TD% - 5.0 INT% - 2.4 Y/A - 8.3 AY/A - 8.2 Y/C - 12.3 Y/G - 238.6 Rat - 99.2 Tell me who's who and who between the two is Significantly better than the other one. This I cannot argue. He is just as frail as he is handsome.

For those who may not realize this, Reich was an offensive assistant under Caldwell from 09-11. They are most likely very familiar with one another. Doing @Mr. Scot's job over here.

Panthers hire Josh McCown as QB coach
Ricky Spanish replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
There are some solid WR options available in FA this offseason that we might not have to break the bank to get. Some good speed guys available to stretch the field as well as solid possession guys: DJ Chark Nelson Agholor Jakobi Meyers JuJu Smith-Schuster Zach Pascal Mecole Hardman Parris Campbell Jalen Guyton Darius Slayton Some solid FA TEs available as well that would instantly upgrade our pass catchers: Mike Gesicki Dalton Schultz Evan Engram Austin Hooper Robert Tonyan Hayden Hurst And then there's the FA RB class which is just absolutely absurd: Saquon Barkley Kareem Hunt Rashaad Penny Jamaal Williams Josh Jacobs D'Onta Foreman Boston Scott Miles Sanders D'Ernest Johnson David Montogomery Devin Singletary Damien Harris Alexander Mattison Tony Pollard James Robinson I think if we can prioritize the FA TEs available, then pick up a WR and RB, we're in good shape next year. -
How do you rank these QB’s that are 26 or younger
Ricky Spanish replied to panther4life's topic in Carolina Panthers
Burrow Allen Herbert Hurts Jackson Lawrence Tua Young Stroud Allen, Herbert and Hurts are pretty interchangeable in that clump, currently ranked by consistency/current body of work. Jackson would be higher if he stayed healthy the past two seasons but he is below that initial clump of 4 due to injury concerns. Lawrence had a great year, but it has only been one great year, and even though Jackson was injured, he's still a former MVP and a stud when healthy. Tua looked great this year with a competent HC and OC but also his brain got scrambled a lot. Too small a sample size of great QB play to list him above anyone else at this point. Young and Stroud are at the bottom because they've never played in the NFL before. -
Going to unpin this one, we can start using the below for now:

I have a feeling, even without the Capers and McCown hires our staff as it currently stood at the beginning of the day had more total NFL experience than Rhule's entire staff day 1. Adding these two probably doubled Rhule's coaching staff's pro experience alone.

I don't think he was necessarily on the downside before the Watt hit, but his balls definitely had less zip than they did in previous seasons. I remember going to the Giants game that season and noticing on the final drive that his passes just looked like they were floating through the air more than they used to. Noticeably less velocity behind the throws, which was still manageable and Turner was getting the most out of Cam, but once the Watt hit happened he could barely throw it any longer.

I don't know anything about these guys from Denver but they can't be worse than the sum of all parts last year.
-
The rest of their team and coaching staff isn't though.

Bring him in to talk trade. Hear me out: Get into a "Bidding war" to Drive up the asking price. Have the saints give up valuable draft assets for a QB over 30 with a 40 million cap hit while they're already 50 million in the red. Profit

Ayyyyy good for him. Nothing but love for the guy (with a little bit of resentment for torpedoing our draft position by being competent as a leader).

Defense played about the same overall, Highs were still high but the lows were waaaaaaaaaaay lower with Holcomb than with Snow. It was the inconsistency that was baffling. One week they look great, the next week they let Joe Mixon score 5 TDs.

Shaq's contract was one of Hurney's last parting gifts, along with CMC's and Teddy Bridgewater's. If people are going to hate anyone in this scenario, hate the man shelling out top dollar for deemphasized positions in the modern NFL and backup QBs. Has shaq lived up to the contract he signed? Probably not. I'd say at least a pro bowl or two would have validated it. But he has still played well enough and if our teams were playoff bound he might have gotten some pro bowl love. But right now there are no FA LBers on the open market better than him available, and if they are, they'd be even MORE expensive than Shaq currently is right now. Restructure/extend 2-3 years, and run it back with one of our defensive leaders.

Panthers Practice Facility to be Demolished

I'm not joking about this, but the popular youtube channel Dude Perfect is trying to build an amusement facility where people would be able to mess around and play sports games or whatever. They should buy that land up. Would bring a ton of revenue to the area and honestly seems like it would be a ton of fun.
