Very true all around, no arguments here. I will say though, Hurney was consistently drafting in the top half of the rounds where there is generally better/more talent, whereas Gettleman was consistently drafting in the back half of the rounds when there is generally less talent. Hurney still managed to find good later first round talent in Gamble and Beason. Honestly if we could have DBZ fusion'd these two together we'd have a really really good GM, instead we have Paint chip Fitt.

You're discrediting Gett's getting us Short, Bradberry, Moton, Turner, and Norwell, as well as finding solid depth/ST guys like AJ Klein, Tre Boston, Daryl Williams, and Butker. All were in the 2nd round or later. Gettleman wasn't as bad as people remember. In fact he probably drafted just as many overall "Solid" guys in 5 years as Hurney did in 15 years. So yes, Hurney gave us our best and brightest but he also gave us our worst and shittiest. It was feast or famine with Hurney, you either got a superstar or a guy who was out of the league within 3 years.* *This is post Otah trade mind you. Before the '08 draft I dare say Hurney was a GOOD GM, however the game moved past him and he kept trying to build mid 90s rosters built to run and stop the run in an age where passing was becoming king.

@TheBigKat, are you interested in putting together an ownership group?

Panthers Playbook intelligent discussion
Ricky Spanish replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it's more Chinn is good as a situational football player, but not every down because he lacks a true position. He's a defensive gadget player if you will. -
Bruh, Getts drafted Starr, Shaq and CMC, two were decent to good and the other is elite. He may have been an ass but we had the most success while he was GM (3 winning records,4 playoffs in 5 seasons) Hurney is the GOATed first round drafter though. I will not argue that. It's everything else he sucked at and why we only had 3 winning seasons when he was the GM (out of 15). I have no defense for Fitts at the moment. So Hurney was the best at drafting top level talent in the first round while putting together overall dogshit rosters, Gettleman drafted semi-ok but put together solid rosters, but was a bonafide asshole, and then we have Scott Fitterer in the corner eating paint chips.

I'm starting to think the coaching staff might not be the issue when it comes to how to use Chinn... -
We interviewed our D-Coordinator to be our HC.

Panthers Really Lost to This Falcons Team SMH....
Ricky Spanish replied to Castavar's topic in Carolina Panthers
Falcons defense is also much improved from last year. Ridder is absolute ass and it's only a matter of time before Heineke gets the nod. Once they get even mediocre QB play they will be in contention to win the division late in the season. Arthur Smith is an underrated coach. -
God, I want to be cut by a NFL Franchise sooo bad.

Sander's deal is like 1/3 of the one CMC got. I don't understand how anyone is still mad at it. Be mad at the Donte contract. Be mad at the Robbie Anderson Contract. Be mad that we don't have enough talent on the roster to overpay these days. The Sanders deal is low on the totem pole of things wrong with the roster.

The real miracle is that he hasn't had to leave any of the first 3 games early after getting hurt giving up a big play. I have lost count of how many times that has happened the past 5+ years

The team isn't making fun of us, Justin Jefferson is just talking. He's also the best receiver in the NFL and gets open at will against the best defenses in the league.
-
I think he's talking about how open he will be on Sunday. Spoiler alert: He will be open a lot

In a vacuum, yes, however our recent track record of trading assets for players has not been good, so probably not.

Panthers lose another Defensive Starter (Xavier Woods)
Ricky Spanish replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
To be quite honest, fitterer has put together a team of injury prone dudes and now even the ones who aren't injury prone are also getting injured. -

That explains the Bryce Perkins tire kick. Also I had no idea Haener was suspended, what'd he do?

Why isn't Reich calling plays for Hurst?
Ricky Spanish replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I misread the thread title and thought you were shitposting about the eagles. I forgot Hurst was on the roster. Which I guess validates your point more. -
Can anyone tell me why we went to zone blocking?
Ricky Spanish replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
My biggest gripe with the zone blocking scheme is that it does not play to Sanders' strengths as a RB. Dude can scoot and he has some wiggle but he has below average ball carrier vision. You need a RB who can read and react to what's in front of him for zone blocking to work. -
The Gilmore deal I'm ok with. It was a future 6th two years out. That's peanuts for an all-pro caliber CB. Of course they completely fuged that situation not being able to sign him long term by waiting on deshaun watson, but that's another story.

Yeah but you are also completely neglecting the fact that the Falcons and Saints both have significantly better defenses than the Seahawks which might be why the receivers were more open yesterday than the first two weeks. It really seems like you're looking for reasons to hate the kid without letting things shake out. "After the first two games he ever played he holds onto the ball forever but the 13 year former franchise QB who was an average starter didn't. VERY concerning." Like, chill. Give the kid some grace. Dang.

A) provide proof or the thread gets locked. B) This is such a poo take on mental health I'm locking this anyway. If you need help, get help. No shame in it. It doesn't make you weak to seek tools to help you handle adversity in your life.
