  1. That organization and it's style of football is really going to take the 90's by storm.
  2. https://sportsnaut.com/25-worst-nfl-free-agency-contracts-of-the-past-20-years/ Kalil didn't make this list. Or this one: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/list/worst-nfl-free-agency-contracts/48fkz11nzo0c1e8x4m1tv44v5/10 There are plenty of contracts that are way worse than Kalil.
  3. Whitworth was available but aging and didn't want to come here anyway. Still, could have had him if we tried hard enough... Maybe?
  4. FA signings? Absolutely. Overall contracts including extensions? Actually debatable.
  5. Verge and I have the same ranking for QBs. Dope.
  6. Ok, so the competition argument is a bit overrated for QBs specifically. What you are looking for in a QB prospect are traits that can translate well to the NFL: Makes progressions Strong Arm Throws guys open Coachable NFL Body type etc. If a prospect ticks a lot of those boxes, it really doesn't matter where he played. The fact that he DOMINATED at that level also helps his stock tremendously. There's also the whole background of the prospect that might determine how and why they are playing where they are. Look at Josh Allen for example: Allen lived on a farm in High School and about 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds. He hadn't attended the elite quarterback camps and wasn't a widely known prospect. His high school team didn't participate in many 7-on-7 camps because Josh and many of his teammates were busy playing baseball and other sports. A lot of his shortcomings were entirely fixable - footwork, inconsistent accuracy (which was entirely due to poor footwork), lack of experience, lack of competition, etc. Dude was incredibly coachable and received some MVP votes this year. He's obviously best case scenario, but there are other examples of QBs being successful in the NFL even though they didn't play in the best divisions in college.
  7. I don't hate it. Lance is my #3 QB. We need a QB. We would be picking in the #3 spot after my first two QBs are taken. Gimmie
  8. I'm getting more of a Rasputin vibe. They both are highly religious cult leaders that claimed to be helping people spiritually. They used their religion/spiritualism to gain favor with the Tsar (Rasputin) and Cal McNair (Easterby) They used their favor to gain massive influence. Rasputin became the de facto head religious figure in Russia (kinda) and Easterby essentially controls the Texans’ front office on top of being the team’s chaplain Easterby’s and Rasputin’s rise to power subsequently cause controversy and mass hysteria. Both the royal family and the Texans began to collapse around the same time. Under both of their influences, there was/is a massive sense of dread and paranoia among the Russian people and Texans fans regarding them. Within the Texans organization and Russian palace, Easterby and Rasputin were known to spy on people. Rasputin kept eyes on the Tsar’s court and Easterby on Texans’ players and employees.
  9. Who does it say we take after the trade?
  10. I agree he will get in, but like thefuzz said, there's a logjam at WR. He might not be first ballot but he'll get in eventually. The better question is Greg Olsen. Is he a HOFer? A few years back I got reamed for saying no, and I still don't think he quite is. Hall of very good, but not HOF.
  11. Also those shitting on minshew for "getting benched" last year, he tore a ligament in his thumb and tried to play through it. Then he got benched when they found out he was injured. That roster was tanking after week 4.
  12. I'd take minshew over teddy in a heartbeat. Cheaper, higher ceiling, and already thrown for more TDs in a season than teddy ever has in two years of limited work.
  13. I think Curtis covered more ground in the same amount of time as Ginn did.
  14. I dunno man. I like a lot of what I see from him as a prospect in terms of potential. I don't necessarily think he'll be ready day 1, but I think he has the potential to be really good given time to develop (much like Lance).
  15. I have Lance over Fields on my QB list: Lawrence Wilson Lance Fields Jones
  16. For reasons you listed above I have absolutely no qualms with Luke stepping away before turning 30. Fun as hell to watch him play, but I hope he got out soon enough to where he can still live a normal life without severe physical pain on the daily.
  17. That was deeper and more profound than I ever thought he could ever be. He's not wrong at all. Looks like he got some therapy after retiring. Not a bad thing.
  18. What about his playstyle is even remotely similar to Manziel? Johnny football did not play within the structure of the offense. It was one read, scramble, chuck it up to Evans to bail him out. He didn't make reads. He didn't make progressions. He didn't throw guys open. He ran around until he got free or chucked it up for someone to bail him out. Wilson actually makes progressions. Wilson throws with anticipation. Wilson actually watches film and studies the game (so say his coaches and others within BYU). Wilson's runs are generally speaking designed runs for him in their offense. Watching all of his throws across many games, not just the highlights, shows that he can manipulate the secondary with his eyes and can read defenses. I don't necessarily think he'll be ready right out of the gate, but I do believe that he has the ability to be a great QB in the NFL. As for the character stuff, I have only seen those things reported on Walter Football and nowhere else. I'm not saying it's not true, I just have not heard those or similar rumors about him anywhere else. They also contradict themselves when they say he's not a leader but his teammates will play for him. So again, not saying it's not true, and I've been on the lookout for more of those rumblings, but I have not seen any more. There were WAY more off field concerns with Manziel out of college and they weren't all drug related.
  19. I'd rather have him over Teddy. No idea what the cost would be for him though. A second?
  20. I hate admitting this, but the new MGK album is really, really good. There's a severe lack of pop punk/punk rock in today's music scene. He got Travis barker to produce the album and it shows. It's good guys. I hate that I like it, but I can't stop listening to it. He's way better in this genre than he ever was as a rapper.
  21. Hurney has conditioned this franchise to believe that 1st round picks are the only valuable pick that the team has. Years of missfires in all other rounds have rendered the importance of our first round picks as priceless, when other franchises can have success without drafting a stud in round one because they find contributors in other rounds instead. If our GM is good, then he can still put together a solid team without a 1st rounder. Will it be a bit more difficult? Possibly, but again, if he's good, he can make it happen. Which is why keeping Hurney around for so long just pisses me off even more.
