  1. He made the plays available though... I mean your example of Mahomes coming up short in the Super Bowl is a terrible example too. Mahomes was doing everything he could, his supporting cast didn't do jack. Receivers couldn't catch after he scrambled for 20 yards behind a line anchored by Mike Remmers. Mahomes literally threw a dime parallel to the ground that hit a receiver in the head near the endzone. Seriously, go the watch BYU/Coastal game again. Game script didn't allow him to throw again until midway through the 4th quarter, due to poor defense and coaches wanting to eat up clock by running (and fumbling) and even then his receivers did him no favors dropping great passes and literally running backwards 15-20 yards on a play. Complete drive killers.
  2. OK so there is a better chance to sign Curtis than I thought at the beginning of the offseason. Here's why: Overall Salary cap is most likely not as high as originally anticipated The WR FA market looks to be oversaturated with top tier talent this offseason (Godwin, Golladay, Robinson, Corey Davis, Marvin Jones, Hilton, Juju, Antonio Brown, AND Curtis) The combination of the above two reasons COULD lead to Curtis taking a shorter 1-year deal that would allow him to cash in on FA the next offseason when the Salary Cap goes back up. I'm still only like 15/85% sure yes/no that it happens, but it's better than the 5% I originally thought.
  3. If you re-watch the game, Wilson did not come up small, everyone else in BYU did. Wilson was throwing dimes his receivers were dropping, his line wasn't blocking, one of his receivers ran backwards 20 yards, his RB fumbled, and his defense couldn't keep Coastal's O off the field. Wilson marched the team down the field with less than a minute left, threw a strike on the best option on the last play and came up a yard short. Wilson looked fine all game.
  4. For me at least, it's the confidence/swagger the kid has when the play breaks down and he rolls out of the pocket. He is calm and looking downfield to make the big play and you can tell he just expects whatever he's about to do to work because why wouldn't it? Then he whips it downfield on a rope in the perfect spot with awkward footing.
  5. I really like him as a prospect and feel the same way about the mahomes vibes. I want him. I hope we trade up to get him.
  6. My take: This happening would either be the best thing ever for this franchise, or the worst thing ever for this franchise. No in between. I don't know if we have the roster built up enough to offer what we would need to land Watson and be competitive. It very well could end up like a Saints situation with Breese 7 or so years ago, stuck in perpetual 7-9 mediocrity with no draft picks to make the team better.
  7. If the Jets don't take him then I hope we trade up to 3 to grab him.
  8. Still at the top of my wish list as far as rookies go.
  9. Teddy Bridgewater's game is so conservative it makes Ronald Regan look like Bernie Sanders
  10. Twitter thread below: Very last tweet is not surprising in the least:
  11. Some guy went through PFR and charted how well each team has done at drafting based on overall Player AV (Approximate Value) and their expected AV based on where they were drafted. So guys drafted in top 10 should have better careers than guys in the bottom 10 of the first, 2nd rounders should be better than 3rd rounders, etc. Below are the results. https://danmorse.shinyapps.io/nfl-draft-value-over-expectation/ Seems like there was some common denominator for almost all those red years... Can't quite put my finger on it though... And because we got a shiny new GM, here's how his team has done in that same timeframe:
  12. Trade up for Wilson at either 2 or 3, give up our first and 3rd and 1st + 3rd next year and then take rondale moore in the 2nd and I'd be ok with that.
  13. 16-17 Mill Per for 4+ years is going to be a steal in 2 years. Don't be surprised to see a Tackle break 20mill next offseason... Or hell, this offseason.
  14. That organization and it's style of football is really going to take the 90's by storm.
  15. https://sportsnaut.com/25-worst-nfl-free-agency-contracts-of-the-past-20-years/ Kalil didn't make this list. Or this one: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/list/worst-nfl-free-agency-contracts/48fkz11nzo0c1e8x4m1tv44v5/10 There are plenty of contracts that are way worse than Kalil.
  16. Whitworth was available but aging and didn't want to come here anyway. Still, could have had him if we tried hard enough... Maybe?
  17. FA signings? Absolutely. Overall contracts including extensions? Actually debatable.
  18. Verge and I have the same ranking for QBs. Dope.
  19. Ok, so the competition argument is a bit overrated for QBs specifically. What you are looking for in a QB prospect are traits that can translate well to the NFL: Makes progressions Strong Arm Throws guys open Coachable NFL Body type etc. If a prospect ticks a lot of those boxes, it really doesn't matter where he played. The fact that he DOMINATED at that level also helps his stock tremendously. There's also the whole background of the prospect that might determine how and why they are playing where they are. Look at Josh Allen for example: Allen lived on a farm in High School and about 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds. He hadn't attended the elite quarterback camps and wasn't a widely known prospect. His high school team didn't participate in many 7-on-7 camps because Josh and many of his teammates were busy playing baseball and other sports. A lot of his shortcomings were entirely fixable - footwork, inconsistent accuracy (which was entirely due to poor footwork), lack of experience, lack of competition, etc. Dude was incredibly coachable and received some MVP votes this year. He's obviously best case scenario, but there are other examples of QBs being successful in the NFL even though they didn't play in the best divisions in college.
  20. I don't hate it. Lance is my #3 QB. We need a QB. We would be picking in the #3 spot after my first two QBs are taken. Gimmie
  21. I'm getting more of a Rasputin vibe. They both are highly religious cult leaders that claimed to be helping people spiritually. They used their religion/spiritualism to gain favor with the Tsar (Rasputin) and Cal McNair (Easterby) They used their favor to gain massive influence. Rasputin became the de facto head religious figure in Russia (kinda) and Easterby essentially controls the Texans’ front office on top of being the team’s chaplain Easterby’s and Rasputin’s rise to power subsequently cause controversy and mass hysteria. Both the royal family and the Texans began to collapse around the same time. Under both of their influences, there was/is a massive sense of dread and paranoia among the Russian people and Texans fans regarding them. Within the Texans organization and Russian palace, Easterby and Rasputin were known to spy on people. Rasputin kept eyes on the Tsar’s court and Easterby on Texans’ players and employees.
  22. Who does it say we take after the trade?
  23. I agree he will get in, but like thefuzz said, there's a logjam at WR. He might not be first ballot but he'll get in eventually. The better question is Greg Olsen. Is he a HOFer? A few years back I got reamed for saying no, and I still don't think he quite is. Hall of very good, but not HOF.
  24. Also those shitting on minshew for "getting benched" last year, he tore a ligament in his thumb and tried to play through it. Then he got benched when they found out he was injured. That roster was tanking after week 4.
