You can harp on a bad situation he was put into 6 years ago for one season. I’ll factor in the entire equation. He was successful as a positions coach here. He was successful as a DC here. He was successful as an interim HC here. He was successful as a DC with SF.
-
Why do you think Chase Young was traded so willingly? Also, Arizona has been an ass organization for quite some time. Much like Carolina, one guy isn’t going to come in and clean everything up in one season.
-
So you’re saying he brought a very bad situation to an above average situation in Carolina, and then maintained greatness in SanFran?
-
Probably the most realistic take. If we want to infer it’s a personality conflict I think that makes sense but we should stop throwing his resume under the bus. He’s an alpha. Can’t have multiple alphas on the coaching staff. Anything with two heads is a monster.
-
I did. My comment stands. They don’t make it to the SB without his efforts. That defense played stellar for 3 quarters.
-
Why’s that? He got fired here and went to the Super Bowl the next year. You could say people wanting to get rid of him didn’t age well. This isn’t the flex you think it is.

This list is awwwwwwful

You missed an opportunity at an epic rhyme. Nill ill will to Will. For real. His skills just aren’t a big deal.
-
There have been several forms of that around here. Some have wanted CMC to fail from the start. Conveniently around the time Newton started to fall off talent wise. But I’m the biased one…
-
Dude, go back and read the fuggin first comments. I started with I’m not even a Purdy fan but I could see how others are rooting for him to succeed.
-
Bias is exactly why you’re taking my words out of context. I never said I was a Purdy fan or that I only cater to athletes who work in silence. I’m not a Patrick Mahomes fan and I wasn’t of the real GOAT, Tom Brady. It honestly sounds like you have some bias of your own to work out. Did you hate CMC while he was here too?
-
Yeah I’m not sure what narrative I was trying to spin by saying some people admire humble athletes who have an underdog story. I’m not even a Purdy fan but his story is essentially Hollywood.
-
I believe he’d actually make a better HC simply based off his leadership ability.
-
What are we calling it?
-
My “suspicion” is that the dude was drafted dead last and people like a good underdog story. He also generally seems humble, not making a spectacle of himself which is also a quality people appreciate.
-
Wtf does that have to do with claiming Wilks called a good game and should have been our HC? You’re acting like that loss contradicts my point. It doesn’t.
-
It was the equivalent to a team giving up a lead via multiple penalties and defensive collapse and then blaming the kicker for not nailing a 60 yarder to win the game by less than a score.
-
He didn’t. The usual suspects have been mouth breathing and salivating for the NFL script to drop so they could come in here touting how right they were about Steve.
-
I stand firm on the title. That loss had little to do with Wilkes and much more to do with special teams blunders. Also of note, Chiefs went multiple quarters without a penalty. Go figure.
-
Why? Because special teams handed the Chiefs a TD and missed an extra point that would have prevented OT? Get the hell out of here.
-
I’d hardly call Andy Reid the “next young offense mind.” He’s been in the game forever. And the 49ers don’t make it here without that defense IMO.
-
Strongly disagree. Wilkes is just the type of man teams need in a coach. Old school, accountability, leader of men type.
-
Everyone was so into wanting the next offensive mind. Now you see two of the best offenses in the league with only one tuddy scored in the first half.
-
What say you, fools of men, who told me he didn’t earn his keep here?
