  1. A week ago I would 100% said Nay, but I ended up putting Yay. If for any reason just because I believe the Panthers should take a shot. If he plays poorly, or even mediocre, take another shot next year. Willis, Corral are also options — much more athletically gifted options. I've already stated I think Rhule is going to take a quarterback, as I think it's the only way he can save his job. If he hits on a quarterback it'll be very difficult to fire him. Whatever the Panthers do they need to make sure not to oversell themselves on the pick. That's how you end up with the next Blake Bortles.
  2. I feel like the Panthers should take a shot at quarterback every year until they find one. I just wish Matt Rhule wasn't the one taking the shot. I've watched a ton of Pickett's games at this point, and I can see he has some good qualities. I don't know if it's enough though. I might be selling myself on this kid just because it feels inevitable, which is crazy to say when we're this far out from the draft. I don't know.
  3. Maybe I'm just at acceptance, but he does some things well. I think at worst we get a good backup quarterback. However, I hope the Panthers take the Arizona approach if that's the case. He really needs to learn to step up in the pocket though.
  4. True, but I honestly trusted Hurney at scouting compared to this front office. Other than Will Grier he wasn't bad at finding quarterbacks.
  5. Last year was especially weird since a lot of draft gurus were stating how much we coveted Jaycee Horn. Verge was completely off.
  6. I'm glad you want Rhule fired, but that doesn't change the posts you've made, and then poof didn't make the last few years. It's not like you're anonymous. So Smithers loves the sixth round long snapper the Panthers drafted, even if he has to sit a couple years to be coached up by Rhule to snap the ball. Yeah, and I'm the one not coming across as intelligent.
  7. How are you so biased you can't see that drafting a long snapper was a waste? Long snappers are rarely drafted and are arguably the least important position for a team to fill. Signing JJ even goes further to prove it was a waste since he was already on the roster. Every year 6th and later picks come into the league, and end up starting and playing well. Some of these end up as elite players, as you said. Please don't make someone waste their time finding a list of these players. We already know you'll just ignore it to prop up the front office that you're loyal to.
  8. There's almost no way to with trades and contracts signed last year. Watching Pickett's games show that he's not going to be prepared for poor line play. His line was so great, he was barely touched. You basically have to hope Pickett has "IT" to overcome the roster around him.
  9. I still can't believe we wasted a pick on a long snapper. Absolutely wasted.
  10. Okay, so I watched one game of Matt Corral now. All I can say is he has an amazing arm. His offensive line, and receivers, were so good though that it just looked easy for him. I feel like at worst he's going to be an NFL backup for years. Someone will try and coach him up if for nothing more than his arm talent.
  11. No one wants to come to Carolina. Tepper has to be tanking right? When the off-season starts we're going to fire sale.
  12. Somehow this old timer is the sharpest looking person in the current Panthers organization. We have to have the sloppiest looking staff in the league.
  13. I watched another of Pickett's games, and he made more throws in tight windows and on the run. A lot better than what I was seeing. However, he had a team around him. His offensive line was great, receivers did well, and the scheme worked. I guess I'm trying to stay positive. He has some interesting traits.
  14. I think Walterfootball has been underatted. A lot of their draft rumor section is fairly accurate.
  15. That's my pro comparison to Pickett. Except Pickett thinks he's a gunslinger. In the NFL Pickett is going to get picked.
  16. That's weird. When I watched Howell's games he always had an incredibly quick release. In the side by side drills earlier this week Howell always got the ball out quicker than the other quarterback.
  17. I can't watch the game at the moment, but I'm following social media, this thread, and a Lion's thread. In the Lion's thread they're talking about taking Malik with the second pick. I'm wondering what's the difference in our fanbases that we're seeing the game so differently. Social media is also somewhat hyped on Malik, but I just keep seeing the same two highlight plays.
  18. I personally don't see the accuracy in Senoir Bowl drills, games or even highlights. Just use this for reference. Look at how many balls in a highlights video are underthrown. His receivers are wide open, his line holds well, and he's underthrowing constantly.
  19. What traits though? I've watched a lot of his games this week, and I don't see anything. Weak arm, slow release, holds onto the ball too long, mediocre athlete. What's there to like? It's weird we have this report now. This entire week has been reports of teams cooling on Pickett.
  20. Too bad we don't have a second round pick. There's guys even moving up the boards now.
  21. The Panthers next Clausen. You can even still call him pickles.
