Panthers settle practice site suit for $100 million
Krovvy replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
How are fans still boot licking? -
No, you draft or sign someone else who will produce. Running backs are found every year throughout the entire NFL draft and as undrafted free agents. They're just too easy to acquire and will produce as long as the offensive line and scheme are there. We also will gain more from letting him walk and some other team signing, possibly giving us a compensatory pick.
-
That has to be the worst throw I've seen from Geno this year.
-
Who's ALT are you?
-
Guys, they're going to call what they think will work. They don't want Darnold to throw a pick early and start his moody spiral. It's basically the same thing that Matt Rhule did with Darnold his first few games, and even in training camp. They won't ask too much of him until they start being schemed against. When that happens, he'll go back to a 1:2 touchdown to interception ratio that he's built his career on.
-
There's the Darnold we know.
-
Yeah, we're the new Browns. Great offensive line with a carousel of poor quarterbacks.
-
It's such bullshit we have to watch Darnold play for this team still.
-
If the Rams win a few games and jump behind us in the draft, then I would have to say the Panthers won the Baker trade, and release.
-
On the bright side, Saints fans are is an ever darkening place. Maybe we can trade up with the Eagles for a quarterback.
-
The classic 'how did they lose it' special.
-
To think that Tepper and Fitterer tried their best to trade for him.
-
It's going to be hard to find an offensive coordinator that's a stud without a quarterback. It'll also be impossible to retain them without them being given the head coaching job. That's why a lot of teams bring in offensive coordinators for head coaching positions as you lose them every couple years if they're competent.
-
I have a feeling those two second round picks, and next years first, are going to vanish really quickly the first night of the draft.
-
Yeah, then don't expect anyone to take you seriously when you, being charitable, overstate others positions so you can strawman for a dunk without actually arguing anything of merit.
-
The only problem I have with it is the idea of trying to find an offensive coordinator and quarterback to make it work. Defensive head coaches do well to right teams and keep them competitive. The only problem is you're usually left with a team that changes the offense every couple years from coach movement. That's difficult to deal with when you're going to be shaky at quarterback. If you have a great quarterback, obviously it doesn't matter as much, and you can make it work with just about anyone calling the plays. In other words, the Rivera era. This however feels like the recipe for the legendary 7-9 Rams.

We're stuck in quarterback purgatory. A lot of posters said this would happen, just as it has, years ago. We can only get lucky now, and it might take years. This is bad news considering the league is transitioning from the quaterback era to one where there will be possibly 20 teams seriously looking at quarterbacks every year. It's going to be much harder to get lucky.
-
I'm disputing it. I don't care about a minority of posters making off-hand comments, and mocks that some posters make every week for their own entertainment. Show me were there are multiple posters "banging the table" to trade multiple firsts for Wilson. This wasn't some contingency.
-
Oh poo, you've found two guys. Thanks for posting the receipts. One is doing a mock, and the other is making an off-hand comment about how if we're going to do something insane like trade for Deshaun Watson they would rather do something adjacently insane instead — trading for Wilson. Really, POUNDING THE TABLE! The intent of his post was dismissing the idea of getting a better draft pick for long term building of the team, instead of short-term wins. Someone could easily point out the Bengals as a counter, if we're doing silly anecdotes. In other words. Some huddle poo.
-
Okay, now I have to read threads to find a poster that specifically stated they wanted to trade multiple firsts? Are you serious?
-
Oh, what happen to "multiple firsts"? Don't make up some silly poo and then shocked when you're called out on it.
-
So, you took the time and didn't find it. Shocking.
-
The Panthers are very close to being known as that '5 win team'.
-
Who was slamming the table?
-
It's the fall off of great quarterbacks without replacements.
