Anthony Ricardson Board Work with Steve Mariucci
Krovvy replied to SaltAndPepper's topic in Carolina Panthers
It shows when you watch his games. If he had problems with processing or reading a defense I don't think they would have kept him as the starter. Their offense was generally a pro-style, where he would stand tall, keeping his eyes up field, going through his progressions. His lower body mechanics just were so inconsistent he had poor overall accuracy that would fluctuate. -
It should be apparent from the fact the Panthers traded so much draft capital for him and just let him walk when they currently have a barren quarterback room. They obviously didn't want him here even in a mentor role.
-
Jesus, 49ers down bad.
-
If the Panthers are serious about moving back it is for Richardson. I do not believe for a second it's a 1a/1b situation when they have an entire scouting department to make definitive rankings for draft day.
-
You're talking to a person that predicted he would be traded to the Bears, months ago. If you want to post D.J. Moore's stats in relation to other receivers, go ahead. It's not going to change the fact that it's going to difficult to replace him. Tee Higgins would not be cheap and most likely not directly replace his production.
-
With what? The 2024 first round pick?
-
Why would I care about comparing Shenault to Moore? This is about Moore's profile as a receiver, and he most certainly is profiled a highly elusive YAC receiver. If you want to deny it, go ahead and look blind. Every highlight, every draft profile. In his rookie year we used him quite often as a running back in gadget plays.
-
Only on the Huddle can you get poo on for saying that D.J. Moore was a YAC receiver. It's literally in every description of him ever. Every draft profile, in every highlight. We actually used him a lot in his first year in quite a lot of gadget plays as a running back. Ridiculous.
-
It is what it is. I'm just saying that for the trades he's made, a lot of them didn't work out at the time. This trade is more or less necessary. You can't build a somewhat complete team, with a great coaching staff, and not have a quarterback. At this point they had to move up to get their guy, either first overall or third.
-
There was also the Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, and C.J. Henderson trades.
-
D.J. Moore's best attribute was his elusiveness and YAC production. It is beyond hilarious that any fan would try and argue otherwise.
-
I called this so hard. I knew it was the only real leverage the Panthers had compared to other suitors.
-
I don't even know what to say to this.
-
D.J. Moore was known for the YAC production. Nearly every highlight for him includes shaking tackles after the catch.

DJ Moore traded as part of trade to Bears!
Krovvy replied to Doc Holiday's topic in Carolina Panthers
More or less a top 10 receiver with joke quarterbacks throwing to him. -
I wouldn't be so sure of that. I understand our fanbase doesn't give D.J. much respect, but around the league he's much more appreciated. Keep in mind, I'm one of the few people that predicted that the Bears would want D.J. Moore in a trade, months ago. My reasoning then, is the same reasoning now that it's going to be difficult to replace him as receivers are a premium position that are difficult to find. Receivers are now the second highest paid position group behind quarterbacks. They don't usually become available in free agency when in their prime, and when a trade happens it usually includes a first round pick(s). Receivers are so valued that 6 were selected in the top 18 picks of last years draft.
-
To be fair D.J. Moore's contract was a steal for his production.
-
Yeah, but as I said it's not easy to find a receiver in the draft or free agency. It's difficult.
-
Let's not start equating prime Cam Newton with a rookie just quite yet. Generally speaking we want to put as much talent around a rookie as possible while they develop. It's the reason why Hurney brought in Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey to compliment the veteran Steve Smith.
-
Currently, the league has a wide receiver deficit. They cost first rounders to trade for, are the second highest paid position group in the league (last I checked), and are being over drafted yearly. Six receivers were selected in the first 18 picks of last year's draft. It's not going to be as easy as people think to find one without being lucky. We have to start taking shots this year.
-
It's true, but that means we need to really, really, really get it right with who we choose for quarterback.
-
The funny thing is the Panthers could have had the Fields to D.J. connection. I hope they know what they're doing. Scouting these quarterbacks is difficult this year. The talent is there, but it's a give and take with every prospect.
-
So then, we’ve got a WR corps to build. What do y’all got?
Krovvy replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Take a shot in the draft if we believe in our scouting. If you can hit on a receiver right away it would make the compensation traded to the Bears seem minimal. I'm going to watch a ton of videos on receivers tonight and see if I really love any mid round guys. -
What realistic targets do we have chance at that could fill the X receiver role? I'm going to start watching videos tonight.
-
I don't know if it's young fans that weren't watching in the days after Smith and before Moore, but finding receivers is very difficult. This trade could be what the Panthers need to finally start building a real team, but finding a new number 1 receiver won't be easy unless we're lucky. Josh Downs anyone?
