  1. It is what it is. I'm just saying that for the trades he's made, a lot of them didn't work out at the time. This trade is more or less necessary. You can't build a somewhat complete team, with a great coaching staff, and not have a quarterback. At this point they had to move up to get their guy, either first overall or third.
  2. There was also the Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, and C.J. Henderson trades.
  3. D.J. Moore's best attribute was his elusiveness and YAC production. It is beyond hilarious that any fan would try and argue otherwise.
  4. I called this so hard. I knew it was the only real leverage the Panthers had compared to other suitors.
  5. I don't even know what to say to this.
  6. D.J. Moore was known for the YAC production. Nearly every highlight for him includes shaking tackles after the catch.
  7. More or less a top 10 receiver with joke quarterbacks throwing to him.
  8. I wouldn't be so sure of that. I understand our fanbase doesn't give D.J. much respect, but around the league he's much more appreciated. Keep in mind, I'm one of the few people that predicted that the Bears would want D.J. Moore in a trade, months ago. My reasoning then, is the same reasoning now that it's going to be difficult to replace him as receivers are a premium position that are difficult to find. Receivers are now the second highest paid position group behind quarterbacks. They don't usually become available in free agency when in their prime, and when a trade happens it usually includes a first round pick(s). Receivers are so valued that 6 were selected in the top 18 picks of last years draft.
  9. To be fair D.J. Moore's contract was a steal for his production.
  10. Yeah, but as I said it's not easy to find a receiver in the draft or free agency. It's difficult.
  11. Let's not start equating prime Cam Newton with a rookie just quite yet. Generally speaking we want to put as much talent around a rookie as possible while they develop. It's the reason why Hurney brought in Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey to compliment the veteran Steve Smith.
  12. Currently, the league has a wide receiver deficit. They cost first rounders to trade for, are the second highest paid position group in the league (last I checked), and are being over drafted yearly. Six receivers were selected in the first 18 picks of last year's draft. It's not going to be as easy as people think to find one without being lucky. We have to start taking shots this year.
  13. It's true, but that means we need to really, really, really get it right with who we choose for quarterback.
  14. The funny thing is the Panthers could have had the Fields to D.J. connection. I hope they know what they're doing. Scouting these quarterbacks is difficult this year. The talent is there, but it's a give and take with every prospect.
  15. Take a shot in the draft if we believe in our scouting. If you can hit on a receiver right away it would make the compensation traded to the Bears seem minimal. I'm going to watch a ton of videos on receivers tonight and see if I really love any mid round guys.
  16. What realistic targets do we have chance at that could fill the X receiver role? I'm going to start watching videos tonight.
  17. I don't know if it's young fans that weren't watching in the days after Smith and before Moore, but finding receivers is very difficult. This trade could be what the Panthers need to finally start building a real team, but finding a new number 1 receiver won't be easy unless we're lucky. Josh Downs anyone?
  18. Unless Fitterer pulled some insane move like trading back with the Colts.
  19. I said this months ago, but the Bears can find pass rushers and other linemen in free agency. Receivers though usually aren't available unless they're coming off injury, are old, and generally have knocks on them. The Bears probably were asking for D.J. from the first call.
  20. If you think so you aren't watching the same league. Receivers are not easy to find.
  21. I get the feeling they may want Bryce Young, but who really knows. Out of the top four quarterback prospects he's the only one I haven't focused on, watching his games multiples times. The reason being is his game is almost complete, with size being the only thing holding him back.
  22. We have to immediately scout and take a shot at a receiver this year. Right now we just have developmental guys on the roster that may or may not pan out. Free agency is also an option, but it's going to be a bloodbath as so many teams need receivers.
  23. Yeah, Moore's contract was a steal. I wish the trade included one less second round pick.
