  1. Wilks + Holcom = Rhule + Snow. DC is set under Wilks. No upgrade.
  2. How is this a good thing? Dude is going to be used up by the time he gets to the NFL.
  3. A stadium isn’t needed right now, but if Tepper doesn’t buy this land now someone else will and then where will he put it in the future? He can’t go to Rockhill anymore. Not that they can do anything about it, but I’m sure the city won’t be too happy with Tepper if this land stays empty for 10 years.
  4. It’s not correct to say because a Player hasn’t played a game that means they didn’t get a chance. That’s what camp and practice is for. Also, in the past 12 years 39 QBs were selected in the 1st round. 103 outside the first. I’m not going to list the 1st round talent that hit vs the non first round that hit but it is a big gap. Both in hit rate and the talent level of first round guys vs 2-6 round guys. Its about odds. Nothing is guaranteed even if the NFL used your super secret guaranteed formula.
  5. Ok, let’s keep Brady and the Manning’s in. In the past 12 years 17 different QBs have played in the SB 11 were first rounders. The non 1st rounders were Brady, Brees, Foles, Wilson, Kapernic, Garapollo. Ive said this a million times. There is no magic formula. It’s all luck to some extent. Many ways to win. BUT, in a QB driven league where defenses are being neutered, If you need a QB your odds are best in the 1st round.
  6. well the Texans are going to get #1 overall. They don’t need to trade.
  7. Right. 1st overall has a bad record because those guys always go to dysfunctional teams. Also bad teams just pick badly - which is why they are bad teams. 1st round talent is required. I don’t get those who think we can just pull some guy in the 2nd round. The odds are too long.
  8. 2015 is a great example. That season was setup because we actually took a chance on a QB. A QB that many said was a mistake. Everyone forgets that a ton of mocks had Cam going outside the top 10. Instead of going for the ‘sure thing’ like Von Miller or the top rated DT Nick Fairly, we took a chance on the most valuable position in football. What Darrin basically said was, “QBs are risky, so let’s just take the “sure thing” player and enjoy them because it’s better than taking a QB and failing”. That is such a loser mentality. Take the HOF players when you can, but when you need a QB take it. Especially since most SB QBs were selected in the 1st round.
  9. Yep, 3rd 5 win season. We’ll be trading up to pick the 3rd QB on the board.
  10. Sorry, the game was different back then. The whole, “let’s just enjoy a HOF player while enduring terrible offenses waiting 30 years to find a decent 2nd round QB and never having b2b winning seasons” is just as miserable.
  11. Brady really skews those number. Look at SB QBs the past 10 years or so. How many 1st rounders do you see? Now take out Brady? How many do you see relative to other rounds? http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/superbowl_quarterbacks/
  12. The Lions have two first rounders. 8 and 11 I think. I’m sure the Raiders would love those.
  13. I loved Julius, but he didn’t win a single championship here. If your goal is to have HOF players, great draft the best player. If your goal is to win, you have to get a QB. The best way to do that is take a chance high (top 15) in the draft.
  14. There is no sure thing. No magic formula. Finding a great QB is a ton of luck. However, teams tend to get luckier when they have high picks. The luck becomes lottery level the longer a QB lasts in the draft.
  15. Aaron was a unicorn. Most mocks had him going #1 overall. A very unique set of circumstances caused him to fall.
  16. So it’s specifically slit film? B of A isn’t slit film.
  17. It seems studies on this are pretty mixed. Who knows. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21985213/ This study analyzed 11 other studies. From the abstract. Not reading the full thing right now. “Changing between surfaces may be a precursor for injury in soccer. In conclusion, studies have provided strong evidence for comparable rates of injury between new generation artificial turfs and natural turfs. An exception is the likely increased risk of ankle injury on third and fourth generation artificial turfs.”
  18. Here’s what’s going to happen. We will have our third straight 5 win season. We’ll get the 3rd or 4th best QB in the draft. Neither that QB nor Corral will beat out PJ. PJ will start again next year. Another 5 win season.
  19. Reich lived in Charlotte for a period of time before going back to the NFL as a coach. His kids are still here. He also played for the Panthers as a QB and I believe he threw the first TD pass in franchise history in 95.
