    I heard a few people say Canales got the HC job a year or two early. He has a learning curve ahead of him.

    Canales is safe. He has a 6 year contract (Dave is still paying Frank) and Canales is only here because no other candidate wanted the job. We have no good options if we fire him. Tepper has a terrible reputation and he has to keep DC around for at least 3 years to repair it some.

    We had a good start to the season when Sam was here too. Then it fell apart. Let’s see how this season pans out before declaring Sam an all-pro.

    It’s not just about Canales though. It’s Tepper, Dan, the entire scouting staff that wanted Bryce. So many in the panther’s org who don’t want to be wrong about Bryce.

    Right. The only thing that could change this is if tickets sales plummeted. (Teams share ticket revenue with the entire league) and ratings in this region plummeted. Outside of that, I don’t see why they would care

    He was the only option. It didn’t sound like any good outside candidates were interested.

    Because it’s a vehicle for Tepper to meddle. It also is a huge distraction for the coaches. Let them focus on getting better instead of wasting energy making the boss feel better.

    Partly yes. I suspect nerves are getting in the way. By all accounts, he plays better in practice and the preseason. His size and arm strength are still a huge issue and I think he’a realized it.
