  1. Where is Sweden on that chart?
  2. Extremely high. Almost certain at this point. The next question is, what are the odds you’ll ever return to the office? Lots of companies saying they are going to keep work from home arrangements.
  3. That’s a tough situation. Working in 90+ degree heat with a mask can’t be easy.
  4. I just read the link in his post. It said hospitalizations were up by 12 since Friday. Now that link says hospitalizations are down by 38.
  5. I don’t consider +12 to be ‘soaring’, but yes it is going up. Thankfully, we’re not seeing doubling every two weeks. At least not yet.
  6. 23 Clemson football players tested positive. All are asymptomatic.
  7. I think Cooper has been wanting to do this for a long time but knew the legislature would just pass a law reversing his order. Hopefully, he has enough cover to do it now. I’m not sure what ‘teeth’ would come in his order, but hopefully they add mask requirements to the building occupancy code. Ive been to a few businesses here in clt that require masks, and I’ve enjoyed watching idiots be turned away and kicked out.
  8. Ingles? You in Boone or Asheville? You should have just starting coughing on her.
  9. Not looking great. N.C. is on track for NY and NJ levels. NC = 450 cases per 100k people NY and NJ = 2000 cases per 100k people. NC could be that high in a month or two.
  10. This person said on Facebook: “As you know we’re a group against mandatory anything”. Something tells me this person was all for mandatory curfews and dispersal orders during recent protests. Just a hunch.
  11. The 20 mill a day comes from the idea that everyone needs to be tested once per month. 20 mill tests every week-day equals 400 mil tests a month. If you take out kids and young adults, then we could test everyone around twice a month (14 day incubation period). Its an impossible number. Even if we had the supplies, the man power to administer that many tests just isn’t there.
  12. Sure, but given the risks you would think daily testing for staff would be required. It’s not that many people. Also, if a resident tests positive move them out. Lots of empty hotels out there.
  13. Meck county now has active outbreaks at 21 elderly and congregant living facilities. Seriously, why is it so hard to protect people in these places? It’s not like these folks are out in the streets riding public transport all day.
  14. Exactly. If there was a huge outbreak in Nashville or Dallas or CLT and nyc was untouched, the narrative would have been very different. The northeast centric bias in the news has always driven me nuts.
  15. I was told that claims were auto approved if the employer doesn’t respond within 2 weeks.
  16. Someone somewhere is going to bring it to a training camp and infect an entire team. NFL players are too young and healthy to suffer much from this, but it will be disruptive.
  17. Checkout the videos of NYC from this past weekend. Maybe 5% mask usage in these big street parties. Of all the places....
  18. That’s very optimistic. Beijing is seeing a new outbreak. People were out in droves without masks in NYC this weekend. Numbers are going up in a lot of places. I was out this weekend a few times and no one is using masks anymore. A few weeks ago 80% of people I saw had them. Now, maybe 10% are using them. Without social distancing and proper mask usage, this thing spreads quickly.
  19. It’s been well past 14 days since the start of protests in Minneapolis. The expected Covid surge did not happen. The question is, why? https://m.startribune.com/testing-of-protesters-could-reshape-covid-19-thinking-in-minnesota/571173082/
  20. I googled it and found many stories about it. It sounds like officials are still not releasing hard numbers on how many cases come from these sites, so it’s hard to know what is actually going on. Here’s one. https://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2020/05/19/county-seeing-covid-19-cases-on-construction-sites.html
  21. Those are one type of ‘outbreak spot’ that consistently comes up. It’s an essential service. Lots of people working closely together, taking it home to their families. More than one site in CLT has been closed down because of it.
  22. It’s unbelievable that only 7 states are requiring masks in public. Going into lockdowns every 2 months is not a sustainable strategy. We should be throwing every thing we have at this to avoid more lockdowns. I know the research on masks is mixed, but I can’t help but think the reduced social interaction that comes with mask wearing is an unstudied benefit. Every state that requires a mask in public is seeing dropping case numbers. BTW...50% of all Covid deaths in NC come from nursing homes. Im willing to bet a lot of our cases and hospitalizations are originating from construction sites and churches. From what I’m seeing, the smaller churches with older congregations are the primary ones trying to hold physical services. It makes sense since it’s been 3-4 weeks since the state court ruling.
  23. I’m no history major, so I don’t know. But, I can tell you I’m definitely not wearing a face mask.
  24. It works if everyone and their mom isn’t an essential service worker.
