That’s the sound of Marty drafting in the second round.

I doubt it’s really that simple. If it was, Peterson wouldn’t have flamed out so fast. I know it’s popular to say “boo math nerds - yay football guys”, but most of these “football guys” are pretty dumb too. My guess is the eagles had some good stuff going on but it came from the wrong personalities. Plus, they had some lucky breaks (as you said).

They still won a SB with that combo.

Roseman is the new Easterby.

Win. That’s kinda the point of sports. You win, you get paid. That’s fair.

He’s seeing ghosts out there....you know?

Or the patriots making it clear they’d like another option other than Cam. Or Denver wanting to move off what’s his face.

As the article pointed out, Darnold was Plan D. We’re now ‘turning over every QB rock’. Not ideal, but it’s what we should be doing at this point. I’m prepared for this process to take years, but here’s to hoping it doesn’t. I’m pleased they weren’t willing to trade the farm for the #3 pick. The team has too many needs.

Agreed....and that would be a historic turn around.

3500 yards passing 3:1 TD/INT 100 passer rating.

Right, we’re all saying the same thing. You need it all. Some people just want to solve the QB problem first, some want to build the team first. Personally, I don’t think it makes a ton of sense to build an amazing team without knowing if you’ll be able to get a good QB. Amazing teams are hard to build and typically only stay together for a year or two. Many ways to skin a cat in football. BTW..We went far in 2015 when Cam was actually great. Look what he did with a sub par WR Corp.

He sure liked Robbie in that game.

Are coaches allowed to talk football with players right now?
-
This staff is all about teaching and developing players. Their words, not mine. Teaching is supposedly a core strength of theirs and why I’ve been excited to bring them in. Obviously, developing QBs is job #1 for any staff, so Sam is going to be a huge coaching priority for them. I don’t expect them to turn Sam into an elite QB, but I am interested to see if and how much he improves. The degree to which he improves will tell us a ton about Rhule and Brady’s ability to dev talent. Prediction: If Sam shows no noticeable improvement, Tepper will start to get impatient with Rhule.
-
There’s hope for Sam, but it’s going to take more than one off season to fix three seasons of habits. My fear is him showing enough promise that we keep him several years thinking “he’ll have a big leap forward next year”, but that leap never comes. Sam will at least make me watch this season, but I have a feeling he’s going to be Kyle Allen 2.0.

I think we’d draft Fields if he fell, but I bet we pass on Lance.
-
Might as well put him in the hot seat now. It takes most teams years or decades to find a franchise QB after losing one. Realistically, Rhule will spent his entire tenure here without a top tier QB. That’s not a shot at Rhule, that’s just how it is. Great QBs are extremely hard to get. I can easily see Belichick spending the rest of his nfl career in QB purgatory too.
