Is this fanbase not suited for a rookie QB?
Waldo replied to BrisbanePanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
When he could use his freakishness he was absolutely clutch. When that ended so did his clutchness. And yes it wasn't always through the air but when he was healthy we always had a chance to win. Sadly your not wrong about the injury. Running was always a giant part of his game and that was the begining of the end. It was still fun his first game back but that also had to do with how bad everything had gotten and just having fun for a game again. -
If you are employed by Carolina, Thursday is a must win

I stopped selling tickets under face value. I'm stuck with that bill anyways but I don't have to help them fill seats if they can't produce at a level that allows me to not sell at a discount. I did it for the Texans game and said fug it moving forward. Thank god the Cowboys fans were dumb enough to massively overpay for my tickets before the season started. I hate everything about this but I'm not helping Tepper beyond the 2 years I am stuck with at this point. I sure as hell am not wasting a whole day to see this quality of football. -

Thursdays are terrible quality games and these are 2 not good teams. All I know is it's going to be unwatchable and likely 1 if not both teams playing very bad football. It's going to take a lot worse than just bad football to crank the pressure up. They had 2 years of really bad football under Rhule and still signed up for year 3. Again, still no signs anyone in the organization is at a breaking point yet where we see change. -
I am not impressed with Brown either. He is extreamly raw and it's another Brady situation at best again with him. Frank just came here and continued his spiral into retirement. It's exactly what it looked like when he came here. Even Ron had a small window of mediocraty before he continued his own downward spiral with his new tram, Frank did not. The entire staff and front office should be purged. But that just leads back to the biggest problem, the Teppers.

Rookie QB or not good enough filler, the results have been the same except under Wilks with the mentality of calling it what it is and not what they wish it is. And I wanted none of Wilks long term but he was dead on in that basic approach. I'm not so sure on Bryce in Houston. A bump in play? Sure. He is just so limited and to set him up requires so much more than a Stroud. Our oline falling apart to accomidate him is example #1. I think he can do better but his limitations also are very real. I see no real reason to respect our run game in this scheme and roster build. It looks built for Bryce at the expense of the rest of the roster IMO. The lack of talent is another multiplier of the other issues. It's so bad and them playing away from their roster's strengths makes it so much worse. I'm past mad and into just making fun of it. Tepper is the one I save anger for and I am fine watching him eat dookie while he continues on with his failures.

There is zero 'how do we make this work' mentality and it's always 'this is the new way' BS since Tepper came. That was the one huge positive Wilks showed and no one recognized it or valued it. I'm with you. Bryce is screwed here at best. I was never a fan of him but even I can see he is just another symptom of the Tepper problem around here.
-
He certainly isn't worth building around in the future and at this point they should flip the oline back to late last year and if he isn't good enough to play in last years easy oline scheme then it really doesn't matter. I don't think anyone involved can afford that yet. Until the blame potato firmly lands on someone that won't really be an option.

Not me. I hate wasting my life on a check working for an destructive idiot. I 100% get it and respect that choice to take that money but it's not for everyone. I also have never been locked into a contract so it's easy for me to say, i can just go look for another job and jump ship while they can't. That's hard for me tonaccept because I value freedom above pay, as much as I can grab for myself. You are dead on about the situation. I still think something breaks and leaks a little again as Tepper applies more presure to 'fix' the issues. The last time he did people were talking a lot about what was in the grapevine. There really doesn't look to be any relief from the Teppers problem any time soon.

They picked the wrong QB at an embarrassing price, they hired the wrong staff and their rosterbuilding has the same vision that Ray Charles had but it's a fan problem in the end... There are things in the new NFL that are dead from the old NFL. Fans just being blind simps with open wallets is one that I personally won't miss. Fantasy football, the modern draft experience and everything that goes on in the internet have helped to kill the old ways. Blaming the fans for any of this is focusing on the symptoms and none of the causes. Having it come from another source that helped kill the old NFL is peak irony. Bryce always looked like a miss but the rest has made that fact so much worse. But the fans... -
He is terrible and the Panthers could absolutely do better. We could also do worse but that is just because of our Teppers issue. I get the married GM/HC philosophy. It's solid. I also don't think Tepper can hire a better GM with a decent plan in mind to overcome their coaching staff issues without another crew. If he could hire a GM with a HC target in mind and just ride out the year with Frank then cool. I just can't see anywhere near the competency from Tepper to think of this let alone pull it off.
-
We fans are sure. I haven't seen much beyond the OC calling plays to suggest they get how bad this is and make moves that big like changing back to a mauler apraoch. Too early from this game but I completely expect more of the same. Tepper is too clueless to understand anything and it's not an approach any of this staff would willingly do as far as I know. It's more of the same until something breaks the cycle.

Moore is going to go Smitty on us lol. They could end up with 3 wins on Thursday. It would be hilarious becaude it's at Tepper's expense
-
Yup. And suddenly the run game would improve. Short term fix but what low hanging fruit when there are so little positives to be had.
-
It's special in all the wrong ways
-
Fug it, just run the old blocking scheme. At worse you build up his value for a trade if they want to continue their dream build. Hell the entire line would probibly improve.
-
It's a short week and they get to play the team they gave the #1 pick to on Thusday. At least wait till after that game. IDK. I think we can hire a GM and let him take the lead on a rebuild. Yeah he would work with the current coaches but if they hire a GM with a HC preference then he just gets an extra year to prepare over Frank's corpse. Doesn't matter. There is a Tepper problem that has grown from one to two. I have zero hope left. It's just all a comedy now to me
-
Which is fugging hilarious anyway you look at it
-
QB is a weird position when it comes to need. Teams end up with crappy players all the time. He would have had a shot to go somewhere he could have had a chance at a second contract which looks to be dying here. I get why he took the money but that is on him. Just talking blame, he earned his though it's a drop in the bucket of suck they got going on.

What about the Panthers is appealing to HC/GM prospects?

It's a blank canvas for a rebuild in 25 -
The trade is what makes it so much worse. Waste a 1st on a dud QB? It happens. Waste 2 # 1 picks and more on a dud QB? That is soooooo bad lol. He isn't the worst QB ever but that trade will make him be a bust just by the cost alone.

You had me at 'Don't pick a QB #1 with obvious physical limitations'...
-
I can. It was a good move to get that #1 money but he may have screwed himself in the ling run. Can you imagine if he went in the 2nd and didn't have that trade hanging over his name forever?
-
All he had to do was half the combine stuff to make his hype disappear so yeah he played his part and made it way worse for himself. Too much blame for the Teppers, FO and coaching staff to really matter.
