Johnson is very smart IMO. He will get paid either way but avoiding a terrible spot can save your career too. He looks to be working the system and good for him. I always thought hiring interviews go both ways and have been disappointed watching people not realize this. He handled DC roughly but it was also funny because he did see them as what they are which is a new ownership group, even with Petters, he would be likely be destined for failure there while they figure out the normal learning curve of the NFL. It's not lying it's just 'your great but I can't say what your not because that is taboo'. Sometimes lies are expected if the truth isn't what they want. I agree generally. Ron was doing great work as a DC where he put in 6 years as DC at 2 teams vs Canales 1 year as OC before becoming a HC. Ron is such a known quantity by now, he earned his 2nd shot as a HC and it went as expected given his proclivities. Offense is just safer in this NFL vs Defense so any one that can score will get a look. Ryans is a beast but how do you think he fairs without Slowick? Which HCs were in the SB? Offensive guys. It's a thing and makes laughing about TB, Atlanta and NO all having beatable defensive coaches the Panthers still can't beat LOL. It's a dump. If your building a career the Panthers are a long shot. If you are taking a shot, getting paid and/or ready to grow from this failure then this is a great option. I think the jobs are extremely valuable on many levels but there is always a turd in the punchbowl with Tepper. Hurney, Rhule, Friterer, now Caldwell and maybe Morgan. Tepper always leaves some dookie around to contaminate the next batch...they literally help him fug up the next time. It's Tepper's MO, spend lots of money and lean on past failures into new failures. There has not been a truly fresh start under Tepper yet which explains why he keeps failing.

It's like with Friterer was the same as Canales. 'He's a great guy' and everyone loves him but Seattle had a HC opening with ties and no interview, even with a playoff appearance in a weak NFCS to boost his name. The NFL is all about ties and connections. It's so much more a small pond than most sectors could be so the corporate NFL bs is sooooo much thicker. All of those openings and no HC interviews? B Johnson is an anomaly, like a Kiffin, where usually you have guys that will go whereever to take a promotion even if it looks terrible for a distance, Wilks to Arizona comes to mind. It's weird and interesting how the NFL mirrors and then deviates from the rest of corporate America in their MOs.

Sounds like reality. Didn't Seatle also not interview him for their opening?

Panthers Select Trevin Wallace LB - Pick 72, Round 3

It looks like they left a backdoor open to make another offseason of excuses for their jobs...or they are doomed if they believe it's golden 100% -
Does anyone actually think Bryce will actually be good?
Waldo replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Maybe but it won't be us. The new guys were hired for their pitch and we all know who that revolves around. I would rather watch a late round project than what I saw last year personally. -

He's a 5th round project? It's how he looks later in the year, I didn't think NO would be rolling him out game 1 anyways. If they had drafted him he still wouldn't be starting until later in the year. For a 5th a project is worth the swing IMO, especially given the situation. -

That or the guy getting cut in camp because he couldn't make his last team will be the one to put that unit over the top. People on this board are still pushing this as a good thing. -
Given the draft they just had it's hard to take any of these people seriously about winning. Who is the starting center? JFC nothing has really changed lol

He has a good eye. Stroud should have always been the pick and it should never have been close. Rattler in the latter rounds would have been a good rebound pick at that price given the current situation. I'll pay him $50 if the team would just listen to him next time the Tepper up the next draft. -

Great job Mr. Computer. So fiery and yet still just incoherent enough to be fun. -

153 mil on OGs but it's an UDFA and an OG at center like that is a praise worthy master plan. Suddenly that rookie OC in the 2nd or 3rd is looking like a better plan... -

Well the facts point that it's not a good investment. LV makes a lot of sense but show me another city like LV. You are speaking pure emotions while you ignore the facts. And trying to diss the Canes when they are the only quality professional sporting product in NC is something the Panthers bot would say. -

Waldo replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
That is not true and even KC won't give the their SB team a new stadium on tax payer's backs. Team owners looking to build or revamp big league sports stadiums often seek public funds in the hundreds of millions of dollars. But research conducted over decades indicates these investments almost never lead to massive economic gains for host cities. "Despite perennial claims from team owners that building new stadiums or revamping existing ones will result in a fiscal and jobs boom for a city or region, research consistently shows that the hundreds of millions of public dollars that are often outlaid are not typically a sound investment." It is most likely to be publicly funded profit for Tepper. You sound like someone that works for Tepper or if the bot found a chatGPT plugin. -

Meh looks like an ugly facade over what they already have. From classical to billionaire with ketchup on his steak. The only things they talked about that would be positive and worth the money spent is new seating (just new seats or layout remains to be seen) and new food options. The rest is more empty hype by blowing money so just more Tepper being Tepper. Looks like he went for the exterior of Atlanta and I wouldn't hold your breath on those prices lol. He has to pay for all of those bad coach contracts for years still. -

What a terrible draft...again Is it? Tepper keeps hiring the same kind of people so it's really no big surprise. Who was the expert in the hiring process. Caldwell...0% surprise unfortunately -
Will the Panthers be better than most are expecting?
Waldo replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
They didn't need much film last year. Atlanta shook Young early. Starting with a division rival makes me think it will happen again with a healthy Saints D. If Young is still scared to throw downfield then it will be over until the prevent D Stat padding time. -
We have known for years and we know this year. The big question is will it be pick #1 again or pick #10. The last time I didn't know was 2019 and how one-sided that D was. Cam went down and then it became known. Since then nothing has really changed just a revolving door of failures and mismatched personel and schemes.

Even AR had more upside it was just the injury issues combined with his play style. Young should have gone in the 3rd but experts and college play lol People were bashing Levis to make Young look better and look how that turned out. -
This is a team that will struggle to get to 5 wins and avoid being the worst team in the NFCS. This guy is obviously working for the house as a 'gambling specialist' because all that money will end up in their hands if you follow his advice. Calling all suckers. It's not even a football take but a betting take lol. And the Jets are favored to win in 14 games after Rodgers couldn't finish 1 offensive series last year LOL. If you are not making fun of this than you missed the point.

LOL at getting back to normal bad vs last year's terrible. So pick 5 instead of pick 1? Just take a vacation dude. Or start talking about '25s QB situation. Or that the people in charge blew so much money on OGs and ignored C. But that kind of improvement is just getting back to Rhule ball lol -
The BC thing was worst case. Seems like he should beat out what an UDFA (I didn't see anyone else thst I can remember) in that scenario where Ickey flops hard again. 100% on the work. That and coaching should get him to decent. I liked the work he did in year 1 but he took a giant step back last year. Hopefully he steps it up big time. Talent just is a necessity in the NFL just as hard work for success is also.
-
He looked like a giant bag of stink last year. No idea he he ever makes a big enough leap in his pass protection to stay at LT but it's at least a reasonable attempt for this year with the new talent he will be playing beside. It's not like he came into the league a polished prospect but more as a pass protect project and run mauler. BC will probably get a good look if Ickey can't improve. Could be worse, like a 36 year old back up sitting on the roster to force themselves to justify using the pick they spent on Ickey without giving any meaningful possibility of useful competition in a situation a reasonable doubt like this.

Lol kiss of death territory right there
