  1. Dumb move. He isn't really playable anymore, he fell apart after 1 game this season. If it's for more than vet minimum it's a waste of cap and roster space. Just pay him to coach and free up a roster spot. The start to another disappointing offseason is underway in Pantherland again.
  2. It would take someone shooting up the boards to change my mind but the guys I want us to take early should be gone by 8 so I'm hoping for a trade back. Getting an extra pick in the top 100 picks would also be a bigger win than an offensive pick or CB at 8 IMO.
  3. Might as well pretend Brooks doesn't exist, which really doesn't take much effort since he hasn't in 2024 and won't again in 2025. He isn't a part of any future until he can stay healthy long enough to matter. Could be an injury settlement or 90 man body in 2026 over making the roster then. It won't even be worth looking at or planning for until then. Best case he shows up and contributes in some way and worst case he has already played his NFL downs.
  4. I think Moton would be out if they are looking at LTs at all. Old guy needing an extension to make space or guy still on a rookie deal with a 5th year option? I still would be surprised if they were even looking at LTs. Like you said, when they feel they have the position covered it's an acceptable pass. I just don't think it takes franchise to the decision makers. The needs are hard to ignore when they are large and staff have always had a thing for 'their guys' they feel are doing well in their plans.
  5. Good teams can afford to go BPA. Bad teams have areas that they need to improve or they will continue to be bad. It also justifies ignoring positional value to some people. Also BPA depends on the evaluations. Who's BPA? The media talking heads spewing their usual BS? Morgan who sure as hell didn't take BPA with the first 2 picks last year unless you can admit he did a bad job in his evaluations. Such a lazy take it's become. It's so overused. Just like generational talent. It's become an oversimplified concept that proves it is completely subjective with how many drafted players bust or become over drafted.
  6. The team hasn't had a winning season since 2017. The Panthers are not a destination except for guys looking to get overpaid or prove themselves with playing time to get paid. Hard to build up a team when you spend as much draft capital and cap on 1 guy while the needs are so vast.
  7. The 2011 team had talent but they were a locker room of losers. They literally were coming off a lame duck HC year that was horrendous even for a team that ended up earning a #1 pick. The core was a great but there was lots of waste on the team too to combine with terrible rookies other than Cam. It took Ron some time to rah rah the team up into what it became. Hurney running the team poorly without help from a HC in 2010 was a big part of that and he was fired the year after in October of 2012 and riverboat didn't show up until 2013. Ohh and 2011 and 2012 were 6 and 7 win seasons so they were literally losers too lol. So much so that Ron was almost fired before he went riverboat in 2013. Meh, if they want to fight then whatever. The team still stinks and is in it's longest losing season streak ever. They were coworkers and nothing more with 2 personalities that are like oil and water.
  8. Middle of the 1st really doesn't sound too much different than 8 talent wise from the rumblings if one of the top guys doesn't fall. Some team needing a CB or WR might make that trade, picks I am hoping we avoid. Getting a 2nd would be a big bonus. Not sure when the teir 2 guys drop off in this draft but it sounds like it runs through most of the 2nd. Anything 20 or before could net a sweet haul without moving too far back. In a more top loaded draft I wouldn't be for it but this one sounds lite on teir 1 guys and heavey on teir 2 guys.
  9. We picked Moore in the later 1st at 24. Plenty of very good WRs in the 2nd. I would rather them take an OT than a WR at 8 this year. Trading back and getting an extra pick and spending that on D guys would be way better IMO. Too lopsided of a move with their recent moves and much bigger needs. The D needs talent desperately. If a DT is there I would hate to see a WR over that.
  10. Dude should have gone out with playing the sceen from Half Baked at the last home game and locked the music on replay of something truely horendous.
  11. They literally picked up a starter at CB for cheap last year. Only worth it if they have to trade Horn. Jackson will hopefully return. It also didn't help enough having CBs last year if they keep neglecting or picking the wrong front 7 guys. Just take a DT and then a pass specialist.
  12. 32 and 32 in his 2nd year here. Talking championships at this point is as much waste as waiting for Evero to turn around his unit significantly IMO.
  13. Waldo

    #1 need

A DT and then a passrusher might be the best move they could make in the draft. Going offense the first 2 picks, if not 3, is a bad sign IMO. I just don't know if the passrusher will be worth it at 8.
  14. It's not wrestling but there is absolutely a finger on the scale that's beyond the human element. Hell look at the SB in 2016. Wasn't the ref wearing a broncos shirt the next day celebrating after those calls on the field?
  15. Depends. Are we talking a contender with that need or a team picking in the top 10 consistently? Because he is still a WR so that helps very little with the bigger issues the Panthers are facing which also includes a general lack of talent especially on the other side of the ball and cap space. Also he isn't getting traded for 1 pick if he is a true #1 at 24. So how many picks and how do they fill out the roster with out the picks or any cap space? I don't have issues with trades but I'm not interested in seeing them draft a WR early let alone trade for one. Hell I wish they would have done that before trading up for XL.
  16. Johnson was a known character issue, people here willingly avoided it except for a few. Injury seems like a much bigger issue IMO, the NFL is brutal even if he is only 24. An extension only works if he agrees or it's just an expensive 2 year rental. Maybe he wants out of the Jets so bad he doesn't care about winning or getting his biggest possible payday. Once his 5th option is picked up it's as guaranteed as his pay next year so he doesn't have to sign anything if he doesn't want to do so and still hit free agency in 2 years if the team trading for him doesn't have those negotiations locked up before the trade is finalized. Franchise tags being much diminished as they are and all.
  17. There is usually more money in free agency and every agent knows this. It's how we got those 2 OGs last year.
  18. Money talks for sure but he would be likely to make more in free agency. Adding in a chance for being relevant than it's not really close. As for the rest I think that more in the mind of Panthers fans than anymore not selling clicks. No where except entertainment sources are talking about the Panthers.
  19. Being Traded from the Jets to the Panthers seems cruel. Also, what makes anyone in all of this speculation think he would be willing to sign a new contract on another bad team when he is 1 contract year from free agency?
  20. I am completely not interested in looking at WRs or Safeties before the forst 2 rounds. Starting to feel like a trade back might be this year's empty wish. Who would be on the board worth trading up for? Also thinking DT would be more impactfull than any pass rush specialist...even if it's a big need.
  21. Why would they want Dalton? He has so little left and wouldn't solve any of their QB issues for very long if at all.
  22. Morgan is a bad GM and there were people calling it before he proved it. Also he and Frittz worked hand in hand, friends at work and away. Even with the final responsibilities falling on Fritz as the GM, Morgan's work as an AGM was enough to pass on his promotion. The guy traded into the first 1 spot for a WR that wasn't worth a 2nd and then took a RB who will be in year 3 while still hoping to show meaningful playing time. The team also needs to purge free agents he was point on brining in at both positions here the last 2 years. Morgan is a suport guy, not a mastermind. He simply lacks the ability to be a top self GM. It was always obvious but fans get caught up in his player history and gave him way too much slack for the quality of work he did since he left Buffalo. Just like with Frittz, people here called it what it looked like when they were hired and then they proved it. Hell, Morgan is still obsessed with Dawgs lol. Now they have to restructure last years big, overpaid free agent signings just to field a team in 2025. Morgan isn't the same as Fritz in every way but they both suck regardless of any positives they could scrape together.
  23. So another year of the same BS? Cool story. Maybe they are trying to break the record they set last year.
