How close did the Panthers come to getting Stafford? Dang close.
Waldo replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
The move makes sense for the Rams. They are a playoff team and Stafford is the missing piece. We were hoping Stafford makes us a playoff team. Not the same thing at all. I do not like how rushed this felt. We would give up our chance at options to lock in with Stafford way before getting into free agency or time for the new GM to get his feet under him. No thank you. -
One year deal, at the minimum an upgrade over Teddy. Then we could draft and sit a rookie. No deal if he wants any guarantees in 2022.

Remmers starting at LT for the SB
Waldo replied to TrevorLaurenceTime22's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sadly better than our LT options currently. Man I hope that changes soon. Still, good coaching should help this less then desired situation. Hard to get to the SB without injuries. TB has to know to throw speed at him for 4 quarters non stop. -

I like Rhule as a HC, not as a HC in charge. Not sure how Fritters fits in but there are plenty of reasons to doubt. This trade with thr amount of time he has had to take in the team leaves me concerned about thr level of dumb incoming. -
Stafford didn’t want to come to the Panthers

Final say on the roster is a huge power. Especially from a guy that isn't interested in player evaluation. That makes this dynamic a different and interesting to see how it goes. -

That is what it sounds like they are pitching, it's just that during the hiring process it sounded like Rhule gave his blessing to find someone who would work that way with him. Tepper is certainly the boss, to call his football IQ young is polite. I don't get the feeling that we are doing it the way Ron is running WTF, a sad attempt at the NE model. Still, I'm not sure Rhule is 50/50 power split with Fritters. It's just too young to confirm yet. -
Meh, senior bowl is just the NCAA giving a kick back to less talented players that stayed in school. There really isn't a QB I would be happy with in the pack.

I hope so otherwise anyone in front of him is just so amazing.

What Carolina and others offered for Stafford
Waldo replied to Calboyz13's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't you know that all QBs have to play to 45 like Brees and Brady. It's thr new normal. -
Lack of control and direction. Hell, Roger's has more influence then most of the staff on a team owned by fans. Nothing about that leads me to be optimistic this doesn't underwhelm. It is goofy and dangerous. His ego has been a known thing. That makes it also incredibly stupid and avoidable. For Love? Just dumb on so.many levels.

As far as the terrible choice vs terrible job, we will find out soon because if he keeps making bad choices it will confirm he is also doing a terrible job.

Stafford didn’t want to come to the Panthers
Waldo replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
That was what I understood, I am just waiting for actual confirmation through actions. My response was more tuned to the other poster that doesn't understand you can evaluate more than just the guy in charge. -
The fact he said he has no regrets should be enough to fire the guy for doing a terrible job.

Yes Rhule is the HC and all signs point to him having control to some degree. He still has people working under him that can be analyzed. -
Im encouraged by looking around. I'm concerned we are on the cusp of doing something incredibly dumb that will result in another wasted year or years.

Stafford is the peice that gets a playoff fridge team over thr hump or new staff hired. We are not even a fringe playoff team and trading for an old QB vs finding a young on to build around is my concern. Maybe that's how this will go, I just think it's a crap option. -

I'm not concerned with what they netted when Hutney was involved. If this guy thinks a 30+ QB is the missing piece to this roster then I feel confident saying I have serious ongoing concerns about our new GM. Different circumstances and it would be a viable option, not with ours. -

Fritters not looking very good so far. This would have been a massive fail for us. I don't have an issue with exploring options but the #8 for Stafford with our roster issues is concerning approach to roster building. -
That's very disappointing to hear. It's gross like ketchup on a steak.

I'm not convinced Teddy is on this team regardless next season. There are plenty of other backups we could have starting as a long shot to do something more with an opportunity.

Yall are discounting the risk the Rams are taking. They are also dumping their last drafted QB. I don't want to take the Rams path, seems like a lot of unnecessary risk. If Stafford went down with an injury this can blow up in their faces. KC spending 2 first and a 3rd on Mahomes, yes please! I just like the KC approach more. Some drafting, some dealing pucks for players and some free agency acquisitions. This approavh and its well roundedness vs the Rams all in gamble, I would choose KC all day.
