They have been bad a lot longer. The Panthers just recently unsealed them from the spot at the bottom.

If you are talking about here I have to ask you what makes you think they have been in years? Hurney gave the nod on Rhule over meatballs because he loved the sales pitch, Reich was going to build a powerhouse with one foot in retirement on a large guaranteed contract with zero regards to what went doen with him in Indy and DC was friends with the GM who was hired because the owners wife with zero business or management experience liked him (they also hedged the process by brining in a consultant group to legitimate it while giving Caldwell the vote to lock the owners choice anyways in a 3 way choice on the HC).

I still think it's a great time for a house cleaning. They have 12 more games to prove that wrong but as of today I would pull that trigger and not look back. Top pick incoming that we still hold, possible to move past the Young mistake and plenty of reasons to make that move. As for the team moves it would be building a roster that meshes with who is here, something they keep doing poorly no matter who is in charge. Plenty of dead weight still on the roster and they missed on too many of the middle and lower teir guys the last 2 years, that has to be improved. Don't target any of the top teir free agents, too expensive and this team needa hungry guys who want and need to prove their value. Draft guys who are not projects in the first 4 rounds while drafting to the strength of the draft vs agaisnt it like last year. Injured players and guys on the older side should be avoided next year. It's early. I hope they change that but it's not looking good for Dan and Dave is looking meh IMO.

I was not. Morgan's work here last year had me hoping he was not going to be staying either. DC is Morgan's friend so when Morgan was hired I knew we were fugged. The entire Seattle connections was always a dead end IMO that started with Friterer. I was hoping for Peters and more KC connections.

Very low. I was not high on the DM promotion, the DC hire or keeping Evero. Young was always going to be a bust IMO but only having to endure 2 games vs the 16 game of the suck marathon from last year was a nice surprise. Looks like we are easily picking top 5 again so that's dead on there. The Dalton bump was fun but also predictably short lived. The draft class is looking as predicted unfortunately. It's just not a good team and that includes what these guys chose to do this offseason even with the few positives. I keep hoping to see more improvement. I haven't see enough yet. 5 weeks down and 12 to go. Get going or I would cheer for a house cleaning. No Caldwell or Morgan or any of these guys? Sounds great even if Tepper fugs it all up again. I was hoping more from Tillis but maybe he is biding his time waiting for the rest to fail to step up and be Tepper's new in house guy? It was 3 to 5 wins for me but I think 3 would be hard to hit if they don't change up what they brought last game. Injuries stink but adapting is what the NFL requires in the best of times. Get to it or fug off IMO

Some and that's the concerning part for me. The idea it has to be perfect to get a fair idea of what is going on...which sounds really familiar. I'm just not impressed and don't get the hype.

Panthers Tankathon (Week 6 Edition)
Waldo replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
Looks like a lock at this point. Don't worry when they hit their ceiling we will be in awe... -
Panthers Tankathon (Week 6 Edition)

The neat part is you really don't have to cheer for them, the Panthers will do all the work to make it happen... -
VR can' fix a complete lack of talent. Looks like it can help someone who should be in the NFL though
-
He wasn't ready when they made him OC here and freaking Rhule threw him under the bus for an easy excuse. Well Rhule and a bunch of fans here. I was one guy who said he had a lot of upside and it was a fugged situation so it's funny to me that I don't think the same about Evero.
-
Well good coaches adapt to what they have and bad coaches keep ramming that square peg into the round hole... Again this is like a mirror image of the crap people were saying about Young last year. I don't think it's all him, DM can also take some flak for his part, but there are a lot of excuses flying around for his poor performance.
-
I saw upside in Brady and he was way greener here. Is he getting scapegoated in Buffalo? That's weird because their O looks to be doing better than their D on paper. I think Evero is way overhyped. His time in Denver wasn't great and then last year here which was mostly offenses not having to do much to bury this team every game. I would take Saleh over him 10 out of 10 times. I just don't see the positives.
-
It's year 2. Some of that bad talent he had brought in. Is it all on Evero? No but he is part of the problem IMO. I think he is way overhyped here. I was happy to see him go elsewhere before we blocked him. They were 4th in yards allowed in 2023 and 29th in points allowed. Any way you look at it the opposing offenses didn't need more yards to score with the play on the other side being 31 and 32. It was never a good D under him then and it has actually gotten worse with more of his guys brought in. The 2 good guys are also guys here before he got here so that's also not good.
-
Evero isn't doing a good job. There are plenty of other problems but he looks like he is one of them. The whole 'there is so much bad I can't tell if it's him' or 'it's not fair to judge him with the talent levels' reminds me of the same take Young got last year when people were saying he couldn't be evaluated or criticized. Plus he is in his second year which just makes it worse. Only Luvu is playing well elsewhere and the guys he chose look like mostly duds.
-
Better but I doubt he will be a HofFer. As long as the QB doesn't drop back out of protection or hold the ball forever he should fine. Probably make a good LG but they already committed that space and cap.
-
Hahahaha. It’s the Jets. The closest team to the Pantherd at the bottom. Putting a DC in charge when they have offensive issues is on point. It's Hackett sonI don't know who has bee3n happy with him for years except Rodgers
-
Finish playing Rodgers into retirement and go get your guy year 2. Someone always takes those jobs, we got one this year. I agree about BB. No idea if he can mesh with that owner tho
-
Yeah it's a deffensive guy as HC that should just be a DC. He already built the D and the Roger's move was desperate and already failed last year. Go ahead and bring in an offensive guy who gets 1 year with Rodgers to build it up now vs waiting till the end of the year.
-
I'm not sure why they even brought him back for this year. I just assumed the media was the only people slurping up the Jets hype.
-
More reasons to run it first. Hubbard has done really well. I'm not sure it would be close to 19th without him gashing it when given an opportunity.
-
Just run the damn ball. It's not exciting but it's been effective. Keep Dalton to under 30 passes a game and run the ball. DC keeps trying to be a pass first team and it's not going to work this year. Adapt or look like fools.
-
His tendency to body catch makes him a project alone. I'm not grading everyone else on the first 2 games, that was about Bryce and this teams past mistakes. He was always a project compared to the other guys they could have drafted who were much more NFL ready. What was the stat, good WRs produce immediately now and don't really have a slump? He looks closer to Mingo and TMJ then the guys doing well now in his draft class. He is a project and always was. Hopefully he can become an Evens but he looks more like our regular 2nd round WRs and that's not good. And the GM was part of the failed staff last year so no passes on that either. If Dan would have come out and drafted like Fritters wasn't still here anymore then I would give him one but it's way too similar for me. DC wants to pass when he needs to run so it's not like he isn't comparable to the past failures either. His expensive oline is falling apart also. He has all year to prove himself but nothing but benching Bryce looks good yet. It's early but there are plenty of earned criticisms.

Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers' Week 5 loss to Bears
Waldo replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would rather get middle of the pack OGs in free agency and trade for TEs that are underutilized in their current offense. Paying top money to free agents is a bad strategy IMO.
