He was like Norman (his one year), zone CB that locked up good WRs. Kind of looked like man but he just didn't have the speed for true man play. Was true for both when their new teams went the other way to hard. He is still only 28. If you play heavy zone he is a great CB to have.

I thought he was a strong zone CB? Maybe I am completely getting that wrong. Looked it up and it said he was strong in zone schemes and bad in man. Giants stuff

What are the biggest weakenesses on offense and defense?
Waldo replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
O - QB play, CMC's health & building the O around his past production and then TEs. D - Run Stopping, Pass rush and too many DBs on the field sometimes (please tell me they won't be playing Chinn at FS again). Anything could change but I expect to see this at the start of the year. -
IDK, zone CB play is something I don't miss. Maybe a switch to safety? I would guess someone would pay him more than our needs allow. Solid player and guy, dependable if you don't ask the world of him.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2021/opp.htm Says 21 for 2021. I get your point but we were not a top 10 D by the end of the year. Snow is a solid DC for sure. A little DB crazed but solid unit. Plus add in the failed 2019 D switch that basically left our D to be rebuilt from ashes in 2020.

I think Sam, PJ or whatever warm body for the first 6 weeks is reasonable to expect with a 3rd round QB. If Corral can beat that timeline then great. Maybe some spot duty before then. Add in the Rhule effect and anything could happen. I think if it is looking bad at week 8 and Corral isn't playing for good or bad then it's time to finally fire Matt Rhule and let someone else interim the rest of the year.

That nickname is awful. Is this really a thing?

Hope is great but Sam is a very easy test to pass. It's like giving a curve to the kid. It's that easy.

They all stunk last year. I just wouldn't try and prop up Rhule unless you want to use Urban. That was the one coach that was actually worse than Rhule. Hell, flip it and ask yourself if Brady was working for Reid would he have improved? Maybe. That also says a lot about that situation...

My limited understanding is that the county may step in and do what Rock Hill couldn't or wouldn't do to make it happen...they just have to beg and renegotiate with Tepper. Maybe this is a little in motion and good faith in those discussions? IDK, trying to make sense of governments is a path to insanity from what I have seen.

I absolutely agree with that but it only supports what I said about Rhule and his other people. That was what made Rhule hire outside of his Baylor flunkies. That is on Rhule, just like Rhule is on Tepper for being clueless. I said I liked his upside and he was way overpromoted. I can't say anything that positive about Rhule. I really don't know how else to say about it.

Meh, you way overvalue his college work. Most of it sounded like poor offenses and Snow's D. Lol fix it with McAdoodoo? More like settled for the desperate coach looking to get back into a real job after having to consult last year. The good coaches wouldn't take the job, remember that? You make it sound like we got a great coach when it was a guy no one else wanted to hire. But he has NFL experience? LOL that the bar has to be that low to make Rhule look good. I never made Brady into more than a promising coach with way too little experience for that job with upside, the love you speak of is in your mind alone. The fact you are comparing Rhule to that is all that needs to be said. He isn't worth propping up but as a salesman. His coaching has been terrible. His running of the organization has been terrible. He just isn't a good NFL coach let alone an NFL HC. His record supports all of this.
-
Brady wasn't ready but he also didn't get the support to be successful here. I fully expect to see him again at OC in the NFL after he spends time with a much better staff and picks up some much needed experience. In the end, it all falls on Rhule. It was his scheme, his QB and his massive failures as a HC that led the way in 2021. Pretending it was all Brady just let you know you the level of BS you are looking at. Hell Rhule is still building a run game around CMC. SMDH, some people never learn.

What if Rhule turns out to be a really good just being a coach?

Remember when some people would go crazy when Hurney was called a failure? 14 years, he is doing something right. Turned out very true, we are still dealing with his mess lol. Or that Ron just couldn't change, he still doing the same old up in Commieland. Rhule hasn't shown jack in this department that I can see. The most I can think of him doing directly is coddling Sam last year and that was not a positive in any way. I hope Wilks can coach up the DBs, he used to be very good at that job. Probably oline, tho I don't know how much that guy has left in the tank at this point in his career. Not sure on the rest of the position coaches. As far as Rhule, he appears all mouth and little of quality anywhere else. That may sound rough or an attack but it is as nicely as I can say it. Hell appears to be a salesman and little else in my eyes.

Because with Sam we all know that Corral will get his shot and plenty of it. We already spent that money and picks on Sam, just play him for a few weeks and see if Corral is ready. If they both stink it up, pick in the top 5 and try again.
