I'm not so sure he is willing or desires to work with or under another NFL GM or Owner after what went down in SF. I get the opposite feeling. He knows he likes the colligate level and wants nothing to do with all the NFL BS he has been avoiding. Good coach but I don't see him coming back to the NFL anytime soon.

The more that comes out. The more it shows how deep the issues are

Ahh the front office Hurney built. So there is more. Go ahead and fire the cap guy also. We need new people and a huge shakeup in the front office side. -
Don’t be surprised if Panthers beat Rams Sunday
Waldo replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol maybe. Who knows how this team comes out and the Rams look not good so far. It could also be a get right game for the Rams. I have no idea and that is so much better than knowing what we would have got for a game just last week. -
I agree that you can't blame him for everything under Rhule but he also wasn't a great hire, just the guy that would take a GM lite job under Rhule who was hand picked by Rhule. Maybe he is good or maybe he is worse than some of us think but he was never hired to be a full or real GM so grading him by the job he took and did is fair even if there is the asterisk of Rhule's rule attached. He even came from an organization where the GM took his directions from their HC so it's not like he was trained to be a fully functioning GM in the traditional since. It could just as easily say it's not fair to give that kind of candidate the benefit of the doubt when there are better options out there for a traditional GM role.

I hope you are right.

The list of offensive coordinators as first time hires had me excited about potential options. The list of failures that already proved they were better coordinators than HCs make me realize I had better learn to settle for the safe meh because it sure feels like that is what we are rushing towards. And fug Payton, it wouldn't work here and I doubt he doesn't washout in 2 years wherever he goes. Talking on TV is such a cushy job compared with the coaching grind. His best days are years behind him.

Person: Rhule ran the team at times "like his personal kingdom"
Waldo replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
But all those leaks were faked by the media to make him look bad unfairly... Sounds like the smoke did indeed lead to a fire. -
That would be a deal killer for me also. I was always expecting a washed up HC but I at least thought they would have had some success in the past as a HC...
-
Yeah that would be a hell no. If that if what Fritterer wants then it's best to do a hard reset under a consultant becaude he is a dead end as a GM. I'm not impressed with the current crews coaching tree conections. We need new options beyond Quinn and Dorsey and Ron again lol
-
What do all of you think Fritterer will do now? His position is far from safe so what does he need to do to save his job? I don't see how he doesn't start finding deals to dump longterm cap and if not stockpile then at least recover lost picks. How that works with Wilks trying his bestest to not lose would be some interesting friction and the potential for a huge mistake can't be far away. I know picks are far from guaranteed sucsesses but it is a volume game and right now we gave up way too much for for way too little over the past few years.

We all owe Teddy Bridgewater an apology
Waldo replied to ENC Pantherfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Your not wrong about his deal and how the team handled all of that. I was harsh on Teddy. He is a limited QB but he was dead on about the circus here. That doesn't change any of the rest. -

He was right. They made that man look like trash and he was speaking the truth the entire time. Sorry Teddy. You still don't take the easy shots downfield but you were right and I was a dick. -
Meh Wilks is a place holder. Rhule left him a mess and McAdoo is still calling plays. IMO Wilks isn't close to a long term answer and we need a HC with a better coaching tree. We are not hitting .500 this year.
-
Just IR him with Sam and start trying to forget it all ever happened.

Great coaching would make the team competitive enough to win some games. Unfortunately we will have to wait and hire that later because the rest of this year should be better but not good from here on out. I don't see how we don't get a top 5 pick moving forward, especially if Frits finally starts a fire sale for draft capital to save his job.
-
I was wrong about him and his version of that D scheme was college level vs what the 49ers run. I bet Wilks had some fun today. Good for him, he got a raw deal in AZ.

Luke is the one guy that I would be fine with as a DC or as crazy as it is HC. Tepper gave Rhule the team and Luke knows more about football on the field and off than Rhule looks to be able to learn in a lifetime. Obviously not ideal but more fun than Payton coming here for an easy paycheck and the realization that it is hard AF and retirement was comfy...at a cost of multiple picks. Could be worse moves, ie Rhule lol.
-
I am so full of joy at the reality I never have to hear Rhule talk ever again in my life. That guy does a legit Rhule impression. Would have been better if he blamed some players for his firing.
-
Meh it's addition by subtraction. My only expectations is that the players should be put in a better position to succeed in game...at least on D. I don't think the wins change much this year or that Wilks is a long term answer. We still have a McAdoo problem and Wilks was never more than a good DB coach with 1 year as a DC and HC. Just added basic stability and not Rhule's erratic BS along with a chance to see guys who Rhule wouldn't play for whateverfugging reasons. Watching Rhule's guys have meltdowns if they can't get their behinds in gear will be another positive. Time to cull the herd of overpaid underachievers that were on that bus to nowhere.

Organization was so embarrassed they tried to avoid being on hard Knox
Waldo replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn't want us doing it on a good year let alone the buffoonery we have been operating under. Someone was smart enough to dodge that bullet.
