Clean house in the front office. Hire a consultant that has never worked with Hurney to teach Tepper how to run a team. Won't happen but it's a good dream. Hire Steichen with a focus on his DC being a stong candidate. Keep Tabor and Campen. If moving to 3-4 extend Burns if feasable. If staying in 4-3 trade Burns for 2 1st, one future. Extend Bozeman and Foreman if possible. Get rid of bad contracts from the roster. No big trades with a savy and cheap approach to free agency the firdt year. Cheap short QB vet contract. Draft DE, QB and TE as best you can with big bodies on both line being added. Use future 1st to move up and make the big 3 needs work if possible. Watch non-Rivera boring ball all year next year and finally be excited for a Panthers product for the first time in 5 years.

It's a red flag when considering next year, if people are still comparing Wilks to Rhule then it's not focused on who the best hire is for us moving forward. Wilks needs to be compared to the competition not the past failures. Hell it's hard to find any HC candidate that is worse than Rhule, Urban and Hackett come to mind and they had plenty of red flags themselves. Go ahead and project to hire this QB coach as HC compared to Rhule lol. It's this guy and I already forgot his name. It's ridiculous. Rhule was never an NFL quality coach and I even doubt he is a top tier school HC either. He can be used to prop up most hires as a great hire lol. Leftwhich has looked bad this year and he looks great next to Rhule lol. Doesn't matter in the end, Tepper has his people and I have zero faith at this point in any of that group. Who in that group stood up and said there should be no year 3 for Rhule? Yeah that is a sobering thought when considering the next 2 months.

Whatever cheap QB that can hand it off and do some dump off passes id good enough. I don't really care who the vet is, I care how long it takes to get the rookie we draft read to roll. As long as we avoid a massive trade or contract, just make it cheap with a rookie in training. It's hard to worry about QBs when the HC hire is a much bigger step we have to nail first.

If they are a proven OC why would they want to become our OC and not a HC? If we keep Wilks then we are going to have to take a shot on the offensive side and it will likely determine Wilks chances of success of making it over .500 as a HC. This is why so many are just calling for an OC hire as HC, DCs are easy to come by compared to OCs. Hell this thread is all about the Eagles losing their OC and QB coach in one offseason. We know Rhule was an issue, it's already been confirmed this year. We don't know what Brady is as an OC because that has never been seen without Rhule. I get what you are saying but I need to see Brady without Rhule before confirming he is a complete dud and it wasn't a huge part of Rhule that made him fail here. There is just no confirmation until he gets another shot and by him going up to the Bills I am guessing it won't be long because that pantry will get raided on the offensive side sooner than latter too.

I have a hard time believing that the Eagles would watch their OC walk and then their their next potential OC walk in the same offseason. When they lose Steichen, and they will, they will promote that guy most likely to their OC. Just hire Steichen as HC is the most obvious best option.

Article: Derrick Brown: We want Steve Wilks to be our head coach
Waldo replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm glad the players are happy right now but I'm tired of bad football. If you average the last 2 games then it comes out to not good enough. Looking at the whole of his work this year it's just not good enough, or it shouldn't be. His coaching connections are a negative. His coaching philosophy is a negative going from interim to full time, they are perfect for an interim HC. Having Holcomb tied to his hip is a big negative. You don't hire a HC to slip into the playoffs on a bad year, you hire a coach that can win a SB and hopefully keep contending for the next one. Wilks is very similar to Rivera, neither are bad coaches but neither are great coaches either, no matter how much their players love them. -
He needs to do better than anything he has connections to but I also expect a coaching crew built heavily on his connections. I would hope the OC came from outside of that but I would expect Holcomb to be his DC. I'm not sure he can put together a crew that would survive more than 2 years here regardless. Once the free pass of his interim year passes he projects as a very meh candidate who will make his players happy but I just can't see anything but mediocrity. The Holcomb as DC is a dealkiller for me personally but whatever, some people just have to learn the hard way.

Been over that guy for years. Don't care and won't care about him anymore. Fug him and DG. Dude was burnt toast years ago, it wouldn't be any better now lol.

Darnold looks not terrible behind a massive run game and good oline play. He has lost when the run game fails. Watching the Lions come into a game completely unfocused while the Panthers played pissed off after being embaresed was the game on Saturday. Darnold is not turning the ball over but he also isn't producing as much compared to when he was. As far as G Smith goes it's a nice story but it isn't a long term option beyond buying time to keep trying to hit on a franchise QB. I'm really currious how much is system and coachig vs the player after watching Wilson completely flop in Denver. I wouldn't want Geno here but going from franchise QB to Geno could have beem a lot worse but it's not good enough anyway you look at it. They don't look close to winning a SB with Gino so it really won't matter who is better because neither is good enough.

It's year 5. He is a bust for where he was picked without any doubt. If he went in the 3rd and was played conservatively then he would be a good backup. The dream he is a butterfly and will come out of his chrysalis as a franchise QB is the reality it was just a cocoon and he's a just a moth. Needing the best around him just to function at a rudimentary level is not good enough. He has had a rough ride but he was a big part of why those people failed because relying on Sam just proved how bad they really were at thier jobs.

Watching Zach Wilson play reminds me EXACTLY of Corral
Waldo replied to DMathematics's topic in Carolina Panthers
In the fully guaranteed contract conversation it's a lot less about Watson's personal issues but the fact that him and Wilson have turned into failure 100%. I like Lamar but a fully guaranteed contact which he is asking for in the NFL for a top QB contract with a cap in place is a non-starter IMO and the fact the Ravens are haven't signed him long-term while still wanting to do so suggest it's an issue. I wouldn't want us to do it for any player at the numbers you are talking about with a franchise QB attached. I have no idea how either the Browns or Broncos salvage their situations. -

He also wants a fully guaranteed contract and those are 0/2 on an epic scale of don't do it or else. -
He is a highschool OC coach and NFL network analyst, as far as I can tell he has never even coached in the NFL or done any FO stuff. I want to hear what Reid, BB and others like that have to say over Warner. There is some truth there but if that is all you have as a GM, HC or OC in the NFL and can't see the difference between say Newton and Gabbert coming out then you are going to get fired. What the hell did Reid see with Mahomes or Beane/Daboll with Allen that made them take that swing? That is what I want to hear, not this generic overcomplication of it's hard and imperfect.

Seems like an alt to prove the main's opposing point type rant. It only matters if we roll into the new season without other options. If we do that then we have much larger issues than a 3rd round IRed rookie the last crew targeted. -

No real idea on Corral. His practice reps were criminal level neglect and then he got injured. At this point the injury stuff is the only concern I have so far and he should get a chance to earn his spot in the new regime. I'm not a fan of short QBs but 6'2" isn't concerning. -
Amazing moment…..and as always….respect to Rivera
Waldo replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ron is last in his division 1 game over .500 behind a 1st year HC playing D Jones as QB and keeping his job because the team is being sold where he will likely see something similar to a rerun of what unfolded here when Tepper bought the team. We would be better off today if Tepper hired someone better than Ron and not a buffoon who hustled Hunrey and Tepper while eating some meatballs. -

What is the backstory on a guy with 17 tackles and zero starts being a pro-bowler? I am amazingly confused. -
Should but maybe won't - Panthers, Saints, Arizona, Colts and Texans. They all probably should but all have a reason to not pull the triggers. Maybe - Bucs, Broncos, Rams, Chargers, Commies, Browns and Seattle could happen but it's only a guess at this point. Ron probably gets another year until they have new ownership and we have all seen that run it's course already. Who the hell wants to go to Denver now? No one good so they should probably suck it up and roll with Hackett while brining in a Wilks for the probable end to that massive failure and eating another year of hell they did to themselves. Same for the Browns and the Watson debacle. 6 teams make the move this offseason is my guess.

Cool Go check his first 3 games last season, this is actually worse output lol. 2021 vs 2022. So maybe it's just Sam being limited and completely the same guy. Dump off passes after the scripted plays are over, holds the ball too long and makes a splash play once in a while. If needed he is absolutely not good enough. Next please.

Go back and look. People were frustrated as Cam deteriorated and a few lashed out. Most were bad coach but good guy takes. That's why I said Copium take was more true with Ron vs Rhule. It's not coping with Rhule, it's just outright dislike and that's not going away. I am going to enjoy watching him fail there now and would be shocked to see anything else after all we learned about him.
-
Nope. I wish nothing good on him or them. Nothing to respect or like about him. Now it's he was a good school coach...not really. Little to no meaningful knowledge of the sport, relies on the skill of his underlings to do any footballing and wants to do anything but coach. The only positive I can give him is that his hustling ability will help him recruit at that level.
