Can Sam Darnold play himself into becoming the 2023 starter?
Waldo replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I literally had no idea. I just find it all funny and have zero skin in that game sir. I will probably keep calling it USC like I have my entire life just because I don't live in California or even really care about either school which makes the entire thing even funnier to me personally. -
Chicken is what you order when you can't afford better food or your doctor makes you. I will only make exception for good wings, not those drum and flaps BS. They do make great pets though. What other pet poops eggs?

Wait there is a USC in California? Lol I thought that was UCLA. -
Edit: Link they knew the day before.

It was reported before the game. The fans thought it might be cancled and then they dumped the news that morning I want to say around 11 as confirmation. I remember that week, it was crazy AF. Went from 'poor guy' to vilian in 24 hours.

I get that but it was infront of the coach and GM in the parking lot the day before the game right? And not on the field mid game. It's 2 different kinds of trauma, add in the circumstances and it chages the dynamics of the trauma and coping process even more. Both are awful but on different spectrums. I think they were shook and then pissed off on how it was handled so they galvanized around that in the coping process and the NFL lost their control on the situation. I agree that some of the suggestions are a bit much. It was a scary injury but also looked like a freak injury.

It's ok to have guys who are a little injury prone as long as they aren't paid at a level that they need to be available. Unfortunately we crossed that line with Jackson. Jackson on his cirrent deal vs Jackson on the deal he is worth has a substantial gap. That 2.2 mil would look good on a player who isn't constantly not available next year or on a rookie we draft if he is tradable.

One owner won some games his first 5 years as owner. The other did not. The other also had a set of balls on his desk so I have to ask which one isn't a pervert?

All you have to do is run for more than 185 yards in a game and he isn't terrible. I just don't see how that equals being a starter by choice. I kind of want someone to take that shot so we can all watch it playout like Rivera in DC, just not here please. I respect him turning it over less this year but he is still a player I would much rather play against than cheer for if we are all taking winning seriously. -
I'm not sure with his current contract and expectations that he could do more than resign to avoid it. He obviously signed up to not be in charge so not being given that shouldn't be at all surprising really. Unless it's in his contract there shouldn't be any guarantees that he suddenly steps up into the GM with power role post Rhule, that is just speculation and hope from posters around here and the media. For all we know he could already be on borrowed time, I certainly have no idea WTF is really going on inhouse at this time other than massive auditions that have gone on by everyone smart enough to know the game.
-
How about show me one non-mistake lol
-
He was Rhule's personal ball washer so it actually sounds like a promotion regardless of 'title'. He is actually doing a job he was never hired for since Rhule was fired. Just call the new GM the GM's GM lol.

I would not consider these 2 really comparable. Most people don't morn murderers as much as random victims of life fugging them. The fact it isn't known, at least not publicly, what went down and how only adds to the situation and why they are not playing this week. Those teams are shook and the NFL's handling of it only made it worse. The Cheifs won that game and stopped an 8 game losing streak. It looks like that had the opposite affect that this had on the teams.
-
I like the idea that they can just call it a tie after next week if it doesn't have a big enough impact on seeding. IDK what the hell they will do if they have to play it after week 18. Sounds like they intend to resume the game and not start a new one so that is also a huge unknown with a whole other game in-between. I'd take the tie and just focus on the playoffs but that's just me.

His contract was even hard for NY to justify keeping so as much as I loved Bradbury you want to be the Eagles and get the good players at good prices at the right times. He is getting paid 7.25 this year and they are pushing 4 aditional years of dead money Saints style to hide the cap hit this year, not the 14.5 average in NY which would have resulted in us cutting him also. In both of those deals, Riddick and Bradbury, you want to be the Eagles though I think they are selling their future cap for a SB this year but at least they look like it's working this year. Roseman seems to have a great year and then go back to .500 so it will be interesting to see if he can hold it together which he hasn't in the past.

I am guessing he took a we bit less to go to a contender and it looks like a very smart choice at a chance at a ring and great production. I'm not sure that was every confirmed but it feels right. No idea if he was told they were spending it on Jackson, low balled him or he decided to go elsewhere first. What could have been if Rhule was fired for being a dud at the end of last year...
-
We paid Jackson instead. Now both of our starting CBs are IR bookends. It was such a stupid move to let him run away after getting him for so cheap in 2021. He honestly set the framework for Burns' worth, less than Riddick's $15 per year.

Report: Jim Harbaugh wants to return to NFL (Athletic)
Waldo replied to amcoolio's topic in Carolina Panthers
That is a bidding war that Harbaugh has been running like a pro for years. He leverages his contracts and jobs like a true mercenary. -
I would love to see him under new management first. I can see the need for another WR but I don't think we have to take one in the first 2 rounds to get someone that can contribute. We have Moore and TMJ has upside and I did see more from him post-Rhule which leads me to hope he was BCed or Bozemaned. Draft a later WR or pick up a FA with a chip on a prove it deal. I would like a route technician but I am praying the new coaching crew comes in with actual player improvement skills.
-
He deserves to get fired with the work he has done to date. I also think we can do a lot better than him, hell Seattle's draft was a lot better without him the last year. He was a Rhule hire and there is no escaping that fact and it should be enough to have already moved on from him. Do not do a mega deal with Burns. Do not do anymore stupid contracts that push massive dead money back into unplayable years, it hasn't worked here and it's time to clear the books and start over. Save that strategy for when we have a QB that is worth a franchise type contract. Clean the house and get rid of the crappy players who were 'OOU' and not good enough to justify their pay, Thomas and Jackson come to mind. Basically do everything he hasn't done here and I could start to try to respect him, otherwise it's his name we will be called to be fired next at games.
-
I'm waiting for the coaching hires. I'm over terrible Panther football and I don't want to watch any more Rivera ball unless we are playing against it. We have a few weeks of wait and see ahead of us. Hey, maybe Tepper will clear the front office of all the poo left in Rhule and Hurney's wake...It's a long shot but it's still on the table if Tepper gets smart and hires a consultant.
