Thanks. Should open a lot more stuff up in the playbook for next season. Y'all look like you have a good one coming up with Baker as well. Will be interesting if he starts as a true freshman.

Really excited for this kid. We had to run some agonizingly simple schemes for a large part of this season because Maalik Murphy was a statue and couldn't run RPOs and had other issues in the short game. It's part of why we scored zero points in the first half against a bad UNC defense (even though we ended up winning the game). We brought in a solid pass-catching tight end as well. Want to see us add a portal WR, too. Duke should be even better next season, the defense doesn't look like it's going to take a step back.

I'm not sure how much control regional affiliates have over what game they're showing. I've heard conflicting things. I sent in a message to Fox national. Not sure how much it'll do but since they switched the Greensboro game back to ours, hopefully if they hear from enough people we'll get the game in the Triangle too. This is 100% the network hoping to get eyeballs from Philly transplants and holdover fans of whatever the team in DC is calling itself now.

Literally the only positive thing I can say about Tepper is he cares about winning. He just has zero idea to do it, or how to deal with adversity. Bring in an actual competent GM and coach, then stay the hell out of the public eye. If he can't do that, then we're going to be no better than a below-average team for as long as he's owner. I've heard the reports that he's "learned from his mistakes," at least on the football side. Hopefully that's true, but it blows my mind that a billionaire in his late 60s needs to be told not to throw drinks on people.

Absolutely, and MSU will be really desperate for a big-time win after their debacle on opening night. We've also got that game against Baylor at MSG, so there are chances to pick up some good wins and see what this team is made of. Mitchell really needs to learn to slow down a bit on offense, but as you said, I wonder if he's not quite playing at 100% health.

Is that Miles Sanders on the stool? (Also is this DALL-E 3 or Midjourney?) -
Frustrating loss for us tonight. Obviously ESPN was trying to push the Love storyline but the real story of the game was Scheyer mismanaging the rotation and the offense. Arizona's a physical team that packs the paint, but the offense was standing around so much and not doing much to get their defenders to move out of the lane. No clue why Ryan Young got so many minutes over Sean Stewart, who would have countered some of Arizona's physicality. Likely would have made the difference. I suspect it has something to do with him struggling in practice. Still, Scheyer is just starting his second year and will figure it out at some point. Our next game is against an also-physical Michigan State team, so I'm really interested to see how we run our offense and manage the rotation.

Won't accomplish much but I totally get people wanting to vent their frustrations somewhere other than a message board. Can't imagine turnout will be very high but it'll probably be enough to get a little attention from the local news. -
You ain't kidding. I WENT to a bunch of Roof-era games at Wallace Wade when we were losing by 30+ every week, and aside from the fact the team had zero talent, you could tell Roof didn't have a clue whenever he had a microphone stuck in front of him. Not exactly a coach I'd imagine recruits would want to play for. But as your post relates to the Panthers - I think what you said about coaching being heavily about knowing people is bang-on, and why we should all temper our expectations about coaching hires until they actually start delivering success. I too was guilty of being excited about this year's coaching staff. Woof.

Was kind of thinking the same thing sadly. I'm an OG fan and started following the Panthers because I've always had the mindset of "supporting your home team is what you're SUPPOSED to do" But there are a crap-ton of people in this state - not just transplants but locals as well - that don't give any kind of fug about the team, and the Panthers have never had enough sustained success to draw in people that might otherwise be "meh" about having an NFL team. Then you have the fact that interest in sports is very different than it was in 1995 - not just in terms of raw numbers, but also the way people engage with them. You're absolutely right, and it's sad.

The 2001 team had quite a few good pieces on it, but Weinke was a poor quarterback who was already over the hill as a rookie and Seifert was easily the most inept coach this franchise had ever had until Matt Rhule arrived to steal his title. This year's team MIGHT accidentally win another game or two but they are far duller to watch than the 2001 team. Not a single player on offense with the exception of Thielen looks like they actually belong at this level. Whenever we have the ball, it doesn't feel that far removed from watching Ted Roof-era Duke football. I'm not even kidding. Continual failure to do basic crap correctly. Agree with OP - this is by far the most uninteresting season of Panthers football ever. You can lose a lot of games but still play a relatively entertaining style, and this team can't even do that.
