  1. uh well he can, uh, make plays that involve tackling... Does that count?
  2. I agree with everything you're saying but I don't think we can bank on PJ being anything. Not saying cut him etc... He's the best option at backup atm. I don't blame him (hell, or Darnold) for not being better, I blame the coaches. That doesn't make PJ better than particular other players like heineke right this second tho. Frankly I hope a new offensive staff can come in and evaluate all our QBs in the offseason. Maybe they can make something of PJ as a backup who knows.
  3. I don't know why you think I need a QB to be drafted high or even at all. That isn't the case at all. I've been huge fans of the various undrafted or low round QBs we've had come through as backs turned starters. On the other hand, it does seem high first round draft pick QBs are the most reliable way to find a franchise leader.
  4. Heineke was only on a roster last year because of tons of injuries and he knew the offense. It wasn't like he was carefully developed. He made the most of the opportunities he got last year and that's why he's playing now. Sometimes backups have that happen. I have no dislike of the XFL. I legitimately have no problem with PJ. He's just not very good unfortunately, or at least hasn't been to date. Maybe that'll change some day...
  5. as to heineke being protected last year but PJ wasn't.. Lol... the dude was forced into action because Fitz went on IR this year or he'd prob still be on the bench... it wasn't like Rivera was babying to develop him... now the WFT were comfortable with him as their QB , since he performed pretty damn well in his relief appearance (remember he came in late vs us) and his only start last year, unlike PJ... 3 TDs and only 1 int in >50 passes thrown. Compare that to PJ last year, 1 TD and 5 INTs (and that many INTs was on fewer balls thrown than Heineke last year). Both Heineke and Walker played in relief of their starters and had one start, and the difference in results was, ah, abundantly clear. I'd love for PJ to have a better career but yeah, it isn't looking like he is more than a backup... this team isn't really able to develop a QB clearly.
  6. Walker may have been a better college QB too... Doesn't look like he's a better NFL player, which is all that matters for us.
  7. I love Rivera and would be very happy to see him win a Superbowl. But he has always been good at reaching the cusp of greatness. I just don't see him as being a good enough coach to take the next step. Then again, people said the same thing about Andy Reid and yeah.
  8. I know people see Rhule as someone that is willing to walk away, and that is true, but that is after he thinks he has built something. There's no way he sees the state of the team and thinks he's built something good, lol. I don't see him leaving
  9. Coaching is bad, players lack talent, and we are making curious personnel decisions... We continually rotate players (to some degree for necessity) which can't be helping the line gel together either. They aren't at all playing in sync.
  10. If Cam plays like this over multiple games I'll have more negative to say. People gave me poo for supporting darnold as long as I did and I'm sure as hell gonna give Cam at least as many bad games as I gave Darnold. Tho frankly, this just confirms my feelings of how bad this offense is outside the qb... And that starts with the Oc and other positional coaches.
  11. Cam was bad... But it was clear he was far from the only problem on offense. Somehow our top two receivers just can't create separation. It looks like defenses know our play calls no matter who is QB. Our OL fails at the worst moments. It goes on and on...
  12. silver lining for sure. dude has been out of this world the last few weeks
  13. the maddening part is this roster is more promising in terms of its strength at critical young positions yet the coaching is so fuging terrible I want to gouge my eyes out whenever I watch this team for more than 1 drive most weeks.
  14. we'll need one after our first round pick regresses in a startling and disappointing way in his second season, leading to numerous fans calling the player a bust. and ofc we will resign DJax and let Gilmore walk.
  15. lol imagine being a coaching staff that prides itself on talent development and refusing to play your fuging rookies that play well at positions of desperate need
  16. this is fuging unwatchable. all defenses need to do is watch a bit of tape to figure out our offense?? really? actually our success with Cam now makes sense. New QB, new plays, no film on him. Then they get some film on the QB+OC combo and we get shut down. Same way it was with Darnold, just took longer since we had a bigger playbook to work with.
  17. I liked Ron as a person but being a better coach than Rhule does not make him a good coach, either.
  18. plenty of us criticize cam and don't get called racists. if you're new to the board (looking at you @glenwo2) there actually was a very long list of racist posters here the first time Cam was around that mods gradually banned as they showed their true colors. Very early on, we had posters claiming because he was black he couldn't win a superbowl (yes, this did happen), focusing exclusively on his negatives, claiming they didn't like how he looked, that he didn't REALLY care about football, commenting derogatorily about his personal life, called him "Scam", continued to hold up shitty debunked draft reports about him faking smiles, etc etc. Meanwhile they would always be begging for our (white) backup QBs... now I dont know if any current posters hold any of those thoughts, but the racism around Cam in this franchise was VERY REAL. In early 2015 I got into an argument with a Panthers fan that argued Derek Anderson should be starting for us because he had moxie and had what it takes to win, whereas Cam just didn't have "it".
  19. 2 drops I think in the first drive and then some terrible throws on his part, some bad routes by WR/quitting on routes, typical Brady playcalling, etc. One nice throw to DJ for a long gain.
  20. this team has so much talent, but the coaches keep bungling it. we even had a decent OL going for a while and then they go and rotate players around again...
  21. I dont mind players celebrating good plays but yeah. I can barely watch this team. I'm not sure i'll tune back in after half time. just feels pointless.
  22. Darnold may suck, but this game makes me wonder how much of this offenses issues was always on the WR coaching staff / OC, because these guys haven't played with intensity consistently all year. The narrative they hated Darnold or whatever from training camp never made sense. Something more serious is wrong with this offense.
  23. Ugh what the hell is going on... Cam was so good last week.
