A leap implies that he is behind the curve... He's a 2nd year player on a meh team and he was in the top ten in a ton of categories for a QB... you say 25 TDs like it's a bad thing - he was 9th in the league in TDs thrown. He also had another 5 rushing. He was 9th in the league in QB rating, too. His 1.4% ints thrown per pass was tied with Justin Herbert (as was his # of TDs)... If his improvements continue, even without some kinda leap, he's one of the best QBs in the league probably. Seems like you're taking the generational talent moniker to mean he should dominate from the start... I think people put too much stock in that. I didn't expect a #1 draft pick to be the best QB in the league in his first year or two.

There was no predraft drama at all around his selection, and post draft was quite a disappointment given the coach etc. It is very rare a #1 draft pick is overshadowed by his shithead of a HC, but that was the case for Lawrence. But he had a very strong 2nd year. If we get his production in the second year of our #1, we'll be ecstatic. Lawrence taking "another leap" means he's a top 3 QB in the league... Dude already had 4.4k total yards, 30 total TDs, only 8 INTs. He still has room to grow but a leap implies he didn't play quite well last year.

Mediocre coach, great person by all appearances. I don't think these comments about Lamar move the needle on him in any direction.

Why would Arizona trade with us? And Will Anderson at #1 would be such masterful trolling on the part of this entire organization I would be absolutely down for the chaos it would cause hahahaha -
Hope it goes well for him. I don't want him at our draft position but I was excited about his potential at 9.

could you imagine the chaos here if we traded the #1 pick for him? Lol -
Nice, good for him! always liked him. fwiw, this is why I love this board. aggregating interesting Panthers-related content from all sorts of sources. Appreciate it @GRWatcher!

Unless HOU is enamored with Levis, we could have had him at #3 most likely. So, if they are, claiming we're very interested could create impetus for them to try to swap picks with us. But I kinda doubt it. They'd have to believe we might be moving down to #3 instead.

Darnold is at best a #2. Signing him tells me they're long term banking on Purdy getting healthy as their answer. Otherwise maybe they try to go for a better backup. Lance may not even be a #2, at least right now. He has looked the worst of the starting QBs on the niners. The 49ers are good enough a #2 can look very good.
-
I was under the impression Purdy won't see the field for quite a bit of 2024. Hence why I said until Purdy was healthy. No way Darnold starts over him. Lance... Seems not very good. He could definitely turn it around. But I'm skeptical. I think the 49ers are, too.

Darnold makes sense for them, I could see him being a decent starter until Purdy is healthy. I don't think he'll get them a Superb Owl, but still.

Really hope it's CJ if it's down to Stroud vs Levis...

This is... Surprisingly little compensation. Only giving up a first rounder next year is a massive win. I love DJ and his departure leaves a big hole, but if we were gonna move up this is about as good a deal as we could expect....

Certainly it's a big risk to move to #1. We can state risk without making such a specific player comparison. Leaf had character flaws, and didn't go #1. So he's an odd comparison to make. I don't think there are many sure fire guys.... So I'm less concerned about that. I don't love the idea of giving up so many picks for any player, but I also think that without a great QB we are limited. So, my opinion is that if we're completely sold on a prospect, they're worth a couple extra firsts. We brought this staff in to develop a QB. Time to do it.

There will be more than 2 teams interested - it's still very early, I think.

Carr and his people aren't dumb. They'll be anticipating that and acting like they'll go for a teddy Bridgewater level deal in equivalent dollars seems dumb.
