  1. Our opponents have something like the best or second best starting field position in the league. It's a HUGE reason why our defense looks bad in scoring - We are the worst in yards per point, because fields are so short. When you have a bad rush D like we do, that is exacerbated. Despite that, we've got some things in our favor - Our defense's third own stop rate is something like top 10 in the league. We're top ten in yards per play. We've got a very good passing defense across a number of metrics. Evero doesn't have all the players for his scheme and despite injuries he's done a good job IMO. The reason I'd consider him for HC is because of that - because he is making it work despite a far-from-perfect situation. I'm not saying you give it to him outright, and perhaps we will have better candidates, but he's making it work decently well with limited options.
  2. I think our defense is extremely good all things considered (that is, in context with injuries and our offense lol), but we're lacking a real pass rush (ironic) and somehow have a really good secondary (weird), and we don't have the kind of players yet for a good run defense. The short field and frequent turnovers on the part of our O are a big, big reason our yardage is so low - but it's also why our scoring D is so bad. I think this is a case where advanced stats aren't really telling the whole story. I think Evero has done an amazing job in a single season. edit: For context, I'd say we are probably some place between 10 and 15 or so as a defense. I don't think we're elite, but our defense is good enough to keep us in games.
  3. You expect a kicker to make a cheap shot like yesterday tho. I'll agree on relying on the D. I think being disappointed in the offense but happy with the final drive itself is reasonable. Calling Young's throws on that final drive underneath throws is a bit wild tho. He had 3 deep throws that drive for like 60 yards... Amusingly probably his three longest completions all day...
  4. Given the OL play and how abysmal our passing game has been (meaning almost always loaded boxes) Chuba has, imo, been very good. I wouldn't say he's an elite player but his improvement has been noticeable.
  5. I think we all did, lol. It was bad. I do think they could have scored a TD on that last drive, if they needed to. Chuba was running with intention. The FG was the right choice, though.
  6. I don't think Bryce has a strong arm but his problem is footwork more than arm strength imo. And his height exacerbates that. Also overthrowing someone isn't evidence of a strong arm. I don't think Bryce has a weaker arm than Tua for instance, but Tua has better footwork.
  7. Bryce's throws are always low velocity past the first few yards. It's very concerning long term as it does sometimes limit yac. But yesterday a lot of balls were ducks because of the weather/wind. The weather was atrocious...
  8. Would appreciate your perspective on the moments / plays you see something special... Not doubting you, but rather, I think you're better equipped to judge that than I am hahaha.
  9. We won't, no, which is too bad. He'll be a HC some place and do pretty well, I bet. He's definitely one of the best DCs in the NFL.
  10. Tepper having zero interest is the tragedy here. I think if he'd had interest in interim it woulda been a way to keep him. I just am terrified of what Tepper is going to do next. Things can't get much worse, but it doesn't mean they'll get better....
  11. I think he could be realistically our best option this offseason for an HC.
  12. Wish he was out interim tbh. I think he's going to make a great hc
  13. Good for Bryce. Low bar, but he surprised me today. Build on it for next week.
  14. I wish we'd just given Evero the interim gig. Would not be surprised if he ends up a HC someplace and excels.
  15. Definitely agree it'd be interesting. I was a huge Moore fan back in the day, lol
  16. 2010 was a worse team, but we had the number one draft pick to look forward to, and so this is a significantly worse season overall for me.
  17. Very interesting article. Hard time believing that Tepper actually stays out of what he doesn't know, as implied there...
  18. I suppose it depends what you consider a game manager, but IMO, Dak is aggressive with the football, even at times he shouldn't be, which pays off in part because of the talent around him. He DOES change the game. He's very hot and cold tho... Like to Cam's point, his team is so stacked he could win games by just doing nothing. But that isn't what he does, and it's a big reason why they've scored 30+ in 6 of the last 7 including 4 games with 40+ points. I mean IMO one of the best ways to measure a difference maker / game changer is 4th quarter come backs, come from behind wins, etc., tho of course this also depends on the team. But still, Dak had 8 4th quarter come backs and 14 game winning drives in his first 3 years... Brock Purdy, by comparison, has only 1 4th quarter comeback so far (albeit in only 22 games). Lamar Jackson has 8 4th quarter come backs and 10 game winning drives... Fwiw, Cam - who I love, and am not knocking - has fewer game winning drives (20 vs 21) across his career and with basically 40 more starts only has 3 more 4th quarter comebacks. A lot of that is the teams and I would 100% take prime Cam over Dak in a heartbeat.
  19. He is wrong about Dak. Dak isn't always amazing but he's not a game manager... Others are harder. They each have their moments.
  20. I mean Teddy showed much more his rookie season, let alone after. At this point, BY getting to Teddy's level as a pro would be massive improvement
  21. Bryce Young is only here because he went to Alabama. All the talk pre draft of how we can't trust Stroud's play because of the team around him and low and behold Alabama wasn't being carried by BY after all...
  22. I don't put tons of stock in pff but I thought the line has looked better lately.
