That's fair. I think we've heard from other sources he really doesn't meddle, but those are obviously sources close to the org so who knows if you can trust them. edit: I think the only thing we know for sure is: 1) Tepper was repeatedly said to have wanted Fields and pushed for his drafting in pursuit of a superstar franchise QB, and 2) We ended up with Wilks on the coaching staff, who had no real connections at all to Rhule, who was made interim HC, which really looks like a move by the owner.

MOST DCs seem cut from the same cloth. I think they see the offense as losing them the game more often than not. Not controlling the ball long enough, or having a turnover, or whatever, that makes their defense have trouble. They want the game low-scoring, so their defense has a chance to control the tempo of the game. That's an outdated way of playing IMO. Can it work? To an extent, yes, and especially with the right QB. But most of us want to go out and win games, bury teams entirely, and take risks on offense to put ourselves in position to win, not just to avoid losing.

I think Tremble has also had a very long way to go at being a complete TE. And with Rhule as his coach for his whole career until now, what can you say? Bozeman is our highest priority, I agree. The growth of the OL is undeniable. It is so nice not to be going into an offseason with multiple OL positions as complete unknowns. RE: Sam, yes. He's a top tier backup it seems. Given how desperate teams are, it is possible he will get a starter guarantee elsewhere and with it good money, but I do hope he comes back to be our bridge, and we actually do the bridge QB thing right.

It is absolutely not Dan Snyder or Jerry Jones meddling to have discussions with your GM about potential trade of star/perceived star players. I mean, we absolutely know that Tepper, who wanted Fields, let his GM and HC overrule him. But he also probably forced Rhule to put Wilks on his staff. We know that Jones has been the one to make draft selections in the past, which Tepper does not do. We also know he has forced coaches on staff, which Tepper may have done - but, most of us actually saw that as a necessity. I actually think that by letting him have control early of his staff he demonstrated he ISN'T Jones. What's weird to me is this forum has people that say all of these things in the same breath: Tepper is an idiot for hiring Rhule and letting him pick his staff, but meddles at the degree of Jerry Jones in player and coach choices.

I don't know what was going on with him and Bozeman that game. I don't fault him for the Ickey sack-fumble. I do for the INT. Can't turn over the ball in games like that. He doesn't have control over the OL, but he does where / when / how he throws the ball, and he made the right read and the wrong throw.

Man it's so hard to evaluate anyone that was under Rhule for most or all of their career. I get where you are coming from, but there have been these flashes of exceptional play, reasons for hope. I agree that we have no reason to expect he's going to be elite. Our next coach is so important and I really hope we bring in a good offensive mind.

Great "shout-outs" there. Luvu has been amazing. Easily the brightest one of Rhule's misfits (well, at least those still on the team). Tremble, I wanted and expect more. But he hasn't been bad, and he's had a couple of nice catches. But I think we need a real receiving threat at TE. Maybe he can help develop along those lines, but he's not there quite yet. All of the OL took a step up. Yes, Icky hit a rookie wall, but that's OK. He is our franchise LT for a long time. And I'll go with another one... dunno if I'd put unheralded, but I do think it's a bit controversial: Sam Darnold. 9 TDs, 1 int, 1100 yards, 8.8 y/a, 105 QB rating on the year so far. I've been cautious about him, I think. But I decided to see how this five game compares to starters on other teams. I was shocked, actually. It really shows how much he has been an active part of this offense, not just along for the ride. His TD% of 5.6 puts him in the top 10 this season, currently at 6th between Josh Allen (6%) and Geno Smith (5.4%). His 0.8% INT% is phenomenal and is the best in the NFL among multi-game starters - nobody else has less than 1%. He's using every level of the field, and his adjusted air yards per attempt (9.6) is above Tua (9.4), Jalen Hurts (8.7), and Patrick Mahomes (8.4). PFF has his ESPN QBR at 57.5, which puts him at 12th between Lamarr Jackson (59.7) and Justin Herbert (56.8). His bad throw percentage is also down to 9.7%, from ~18% in previous seasons. And perhaps most importantly, he's gotten the ball to our main playmaker. DJ Moore has 376 yards, 4 TDs, and ~19 y/r over the last five games, and is averaging almost 40 yards more per game with Sam. Over a 17 game stretch, that's ~1300 yards receiving and 14 TDs. Sam resurrected his career and has a shot at being a good backup / bridge QB for us, or if he continues to play well, perhaps someone's gamble as their long term starter (despite all these numbers - I do not want him as that for us...). He was also the only reason we were at all in the TB game, but also just wasn't able to push us over the top. This is the best 5 game stretch of his career and whether with us or someone else, he's played himself into a shot at a starting role on a team next year. Edit: And before the Darnold bit gets trolled, I do not want him as our long term starter and I don't believe that he'll necessarily maintain level of play like that. But I think we can acknowledge what a huge step up it has been for him to be able to even have a stretch like that...

It's hard for me to know what is Fitterer, and what is Rhule and our owner. I guarantee you that Tepper was consulted on the Burns trade. I'm not saying he is the reason it didn't happen, but for any player of high value, the owner is consulted. The repeated attempts at shortcuts and reclamation projects has me very concerned. Was that Fitt, or Rhule? I tend to think more the later than the former, especially because half of those guys were people the idiot recruited in college. So what next? Where does this team go from here? Hopefully, we build the team right. We're going to have some difficulties navigating contracts the next year or two, but I think we have a solid team with some very big holes.

He made the season interesting and brought meaningful football to January for us. Nice. Now to find a coach that has us playing in February....

For fans it's a 2nd and 2 1sts; for the team it more like 2 2nds and a 3rd depending on where they value the Rams picks in 2024 and 2025. Orgs generally cut the value of the pick in half each year in the future they are. Not saying that you and I need to do the same in our minds, just explaining what the apparent thoughts are of football execs there. We also don't know why the deal wasn't taken... I'm very curious what all went into the decision and I doubt we will ever know.

Not quite. They can't win the division but are (for the moment) alive in the WC, but need some combination of teams to lose ahead of them that makes it unlikely.

He wasn't bad today - even his INT was the right read, but a poor throw. He's a fine bridge QB for a rookie to learn behind until they're ready. That's been a bright spot of the last 5 games for sure. Lots of overhauls needed on the roster for sure.

How is that "bad ball handling"? He got jacked on his blindside a second and a half into a play. That turnover was NOT on Sam (others were tho).
