  1. I fully intend to return to insanity by this afternoon, thank you very much!
  2. if anything what the 49ers trade shows is that if you feel you only need 1 piece to be competitive, you can sacrifice a ton. We are not 1 piece away, so sacrificing a ton for unproven commodity, even one as enticing as Wilson, seems too big a risk.
  3. Wilson will cost as much as Watson would have before, it seems, which just feels ridiculous. Given that, and the fact that Atlanta is not a viable trade option, we're simply going to need to see how the draft falls.
  4. Maybe... maybe not. Talk of SF taking Jones could mean Fields or Lance (more likely imo) is available to us. If not I'd like to take a shot at Minshew.
  5. If we get one of the top 4 QBs, there is no reason to spend any significant draft capital on minshew. But if they would give him up cheaply, sure maybe. I still think you're looking at a 3rd or 4th and if you get a qb in round 1, I don't think you want to effectively get another qb with 3/4. I'd rather ride with Teddy for another year in that case while the rookie learns on the bench.. at least early
  6. Worth noting that Minshew's percent of throws resulting in TDs was 4.9, and INTs was 1.5. Teddy's numbers were 3 and 2.2...
  7. there's something ridiculous about internet trolls insulting division 1 athletes.
  8. Do we know NE is still interested or is it just speculation?
  9. I would probably prefer Minshew to most of the QBs outside the top 5 or 6... if we can get him for a 4th, we should.
  10. All I mean is that if we can't get a QB in the first I still expect them to draft one at some point.
  11. Maybe, maybe not... that contract suggests the Patriots themselves aren't so sure. He certainly will have a better offense around him now.
  12. Not at all. Our team has lots of holes. But QB is a big one and Teddy's inability to perform with the game on the line was obvious.
  13. ok, so Teddy can't win the game but if you put a star cast around him, maybe he won't lose the game? heh
  14. More his game logs show inconsistency from one start to the next, and this year it was particularly clear in the last 4 games relative to the beginning of his year... I do think that coaching could correct his issues but I haven't watch as much of him as some others. I don't like him in the first round but who knows after that.
  15. His job is to win games, if having to lead 4th quarter comebacks or game-winning drives is too much pressure, what is he good for?
  16. The thing is, Teddy was billed as someone that would always take care of the ball, yet his int % doesn't show that to be the case. He may not want to take risks, but he sure isn't making the best decisions all the time, either. I would love last year to just be an unfortunate blip and for him to become a franchise guy for us this year, just don't see it as possible.
  17. Hadn't seen this. Deeply disturbing. Feel horrible for those women... edit: this reads like a dude who is used to getting what he wants from women and thinks all he needs to do is demand it. given the frequency and some of the things he says it makes me wonder how many other women are afraid to come forward. fuged up.
  18. I think regardless of how they perform on the field, the class will be historic because of how players will be taken, etc.
  19. I would rather have Mond in the third than giving up 3 firsts for Lance, but if Lance is there at 8 or if we can get him without giving up the kind of haul SF did (should be possible), Lance seems to have a higher ceiling. Of course, Lance's competition is hugely concerning. He didn't look good in his only game in 2020 and his team didn't ever seem to trust him to carry them with his arm. However, he looks to have all the physical tools to succeed and clearly has decent decision making skills.
  20. We also need a better backup option, though, because our current options are severely limited. Its true it is rare you get an elite guy outside the first, but that doesn't mean we should reach for any QB possible in the 1st either. I think we're in a position where we need to add something to our pool of QBs and the draft is still a possibility there, even if it isn't our "franchise". I also am fine with trading up a bit if one of the top 4 slides, or if Jones is who SF picks, I just don't expect that to happen.
  21. he is infinitely better than Clausen. That still isn't saying much. lol right I mean remember, it isn't just our team / our offense impacted by covid, either. even if we assume Teddy does step up a light bit next year, would it be enough to truly make this team not just competitive but great? not really.
  22. One reason I like going the route of one of the developmental prospects in not-the-first-round is that as painful as it might be to have Teddy as our starter in some respects, knowing there's someone behind him that has a shot at being the QB of the future would at least be nice.
  23. Alex Smith has also had far, far better teams around him at times. IMO, they are very similar players. On Minshew, depends on the cost. I'm not sure I would want to give up a 3rd this year. However, I do think he has a chance to be a good starter... He was benched so they could tank at one point, and although he did play a bit, they weren't going to let him win.
  24. I actually do think Bridgewater is good enough to be the QB of a playoff-contending Panthers team. The problem is, I don't want to just get to the playoffs. I want to win a Superb Owl, and as much as I like Teddy as a person, and do think he can play better than he did last year, I just don't see us as being able to build the kind of roster around him needed to carry him to a SB victory. An elite QB can make up for so many deficiencies on a team.
  25. I'm not sure how desperate our FO really is. We have no idea what they've actually been doing on the QB front, other than being involved - which is what all of us wanted. We know they've been outbid a few times... So, desperate to an extent, but not insofar as to make moves that IMO would have been a bit too costly. As to Teddy B, his contract isn't as terrible as some here make it out to be... He was paid 16th in the league last year and that is honestly about where he fell in terms of QB level. Luckily it is a relatively team friendly contract and we can ditch him without a terrible cap hit next year. Tbh I would have rather gone with the much cheaper Kyle Allen, but oh well. I don't blame a coach for not wanting to go the tanking route, heh.
