Most of the Bryce skeptics do admit he was in a poo situation (see above and a Frankw and I commenting how silly it was to think out roster was better than theirs). But man he was beyond bad in most games last year. CJs struggles this year are a mix of things, but he still makes a few good plays a game.

It's definitely comical. Nico Collins developed well with Stroud, along with the other receivers. But before that, posters here thought WE had a better roster on offense . This year, our OL is unquestionably better. But yeah I'm not trying to slight Stroud by saying his receivers were very good. And I agree on that mutual development. Stroud has a chance to be one of the top handful of players at his position; I don't know his receivers are quite that good, but when healthy they are damn good

I think the headline is making people think it says something different than it does... It does say not to judge either player by their rookie year, tho. But it says this: "None of this means that the Young versus Stroud debate should be completely reborn. Stroud remains the superior player and will likely remain so unless something drastically changes. However, Young has looked like he has the tools to be a solid quarterback in the NFL over the past six weeks – as long as he continues to improve. And Stroud still possesses the mechanics to become a top player in the NFL – just not in Year 2."

Overall he's shown huge strides. And I think he has shown he can make almost every throw he needs to, but some need to be done with more consistency and placement. Bryce is missing guys very deep in a general sense; sometimes they manage to get to the ball anyway, sometimes they drop it. Some of that is just the experience together. He also has times where his footwork is terrible, but it's so much better than earlier in the season. Last game, either he or Canales was not getting the offense to the line fast enough (this is hard to be sure of), which I think reflects the inexperience of both. Fwiw, we do have YAC guys in Coker and Sanders... Just need to get them on the field again.

It isn't hypothetical to say XL scores if he doesn't drop the ball because he dropped it as he rolls untouched into the endzone. It is hypothetical to say we would have scored if not for the INT as that'd be several plays.

I recognize they are two different grading systems, but where they diverge and where they line up is fascinating to me. This is one such case, where PFF has Bryce at "backup level" and QBR says that a team should win 85%+ of the time with his performance. Just interesting to see that.

XL has a lot to like. He's having trouble with catching the ball at times. He's a rookie, tho, so... Hoping that'll improve.
-
Anyone with premium know how they rated Bryce? I'm curious how PFF compares to ESPNs QBR because so far the two don't line up at all hahaha.

I wish I knew how the fug that thing is calculated given his KC game was a 40 something and his NYG game was a 60, lol

who do you think IS a good team, then...? They've beat the Ravens, trounced the Rams, beat the Commanders and Packers, destroyed the Bengals... They have the Steelers next week, so that's a test, but they are on a 9 game winning streak and are one of the best teams in the league IMO. Their defense is really good, their rushing offense is like watching a video game, I dunno man. They're a good team. They've been really good. Hurts is their weakness. edit: and he isn't a huge weakness. He is a player clearly being carried, but he's avoiding mistakes, and moving the ball often with his legs. He also can deliver in the red zone. So, while a weakness, he's still a good QB... Just maybe not as good as some thought.

"The Eagles did not look like a team close to the No. 1 seed in the NFC, even though they looked as if they might have been the best team in the league just a week ago." Hmm best team in the league until they played the Panthers?
-
this... man.. okay, so I didn't read the whole post initially but this is just such an idiotic take. The Panthers are not a good team. But you know, every team has QBs that throw INTs. The Eagles have won 3 of the 4 games Hurts has thrown an INT in. The Bucs have won 4 (including vs us the previous week). The Chiefs have won 7. I'm picking these teams because they are our last three opponents, and somehow they manage to win despite a turnover. Or sometimes many turnovers. When an INT is thrown at the end of the game, yes, it loses the game. When a fumble happens at the end of the game, yes, it loses the game. And when a drop happens at the end of the game - yes, it loses the game. You had a very reasoned Bryce take and then blame him for the loss, which is ridiculous.
-
remind me how much time was left in the game when the INT occurred? did the Panthers, you know, regain the lead at any point? was XL's drop in the first or second half? just trying to jog my memory of the game so I can figure out what happened, you know, since I distinctly remember having a lead in the 3rd quarter and having a WR drop a TD with less than a minute left... But hey maybe I'm mistaken and Bryce threw a pick to end the game.

tbf to Coker, he has 90 on just 263 yards receiving. He just hasn't been able to get on the field much. Sanders, too, has 50% of his yards on YAC. So we have those guys - they just were injured the last 2 weeks (very clear they are bringing Sanders along slowly given his play time this last game). Thielen will never be huge YAC for us because of his age. Legette, well, I don't know. I just want him to catch some fuging passes.

The last game the announcers pointed out how bad our center was on the screen play. I don't necessarily think it is that he's calling them when everyone knows its coming. We just don't have the practice to sell them as anything but screens yet, I think.
-
The one time I remember was on an early scramble drill. He seemed to cut his route off when he peaked and saw Bryce scrambling. I think if he keeps running down field he's got a TD or a massive gain.
-
So I didn't pay a ton of attention during the week, but I saw Coker had practiced Wednesday. Did he reinjure himself later in the week? Looking forward to his return... He had been really good there for a few weeks.
-
He's got things to work on for sure. I think yesterday he was off on a lot of throws he's been making, tho he made up for it in other ways. He also has trouble with a lot of routes beyond 20 yards, but I think that'll come with more reps with WRs
-
This is one of the biggest and more exciting differences for sure. He seems so elusive now and he sees blitzes as a chance to punish other teams. It's like.... If they don't get him, we're about to get a 20 yard gain, lol. He used to panic when people got near him and now he just maneuvers and finds the open player... It's pretty impressive, and a big reason I'm not worried about him being 'figured out.' That play out of the endzone yesterday was just amazing

Hurts is almost a cautionary story about buying in too much to a player, though.
