  1. 2010 was worse in season imo, but we all knew the pain was temporary. If you think 2021 is bad wait until Rhule 2022... It can always get worse...
  2. I wouldn't be upset with missing the playoffs this year if the team was competitive but due to one or two pieces we just weren't there yet... But it isn't. No identity, no toughness. It's a dumpster fire. Rhule needs to fuging go.
  3. Rhule is bound to Sam and needs to make excuses. He mortgaged assets for him. He sucks, Rhule sucks. Clean the house... That said ...Although Rhule is definitely coddling Sam and has been harsher on Cam, my understanding was that he finally broke down last press conference and said you couldn't evaluate either guy because of how bad protections been. I didn't watch Rhule's answer itself, though, so I may be wrong.
  4. In limited action he's shown he is still very good... Maybe a ton is an exaggeration though. The point about wanting to stay local may also matter though.
  5. It'll be interesting to see how negotiations with Reddick and Gilmore go... Both could command a ton of money but supposedly have bought into rhules culture lol.
  6. No better way for us to end up with a chance at a true franchise QB than to retain Rhule, go OL in the first this year, and start Darnold in all 17 (okay with his injury history it's gonna be more like 12) games next year. Our new coach will have a perfect opportunity to build around a great prospect with a top 5 (maybe even top 3 if Sammy stays healthy) pick in 2023. Alternatively kick Rhule to the curb and find another way... Which is my preference so we don't lose a year of player development.
  7. Ugh man he'll just draft Pickett and start him and run him into the ground... I feel like they can't let this dude decide on a third (fourth? Fifth? Depending on how you count it) qb to try to save his job.
  8. So I see competitive as different from contending. I think we were competitive most of Rivera's tenure in that we could threaten any team on a week to week basis, but only contenders in a couple seasons. The way I see it, with the right coach and QB you can contend often... Even a mediocre coach with a decent roster can keep a team competitive, but you need both the coach AND the QB to go from competitive to contending regularly imo. So for instance a good coach could have made this team competitive, maybe even make the playoffs. But they'll need a star QB to really contend. My one hope is Rhule's ineptitude, if kept for 2022, will grant us an opportunity for such a star QB.
  9. I think this roster, with some good FA and draft acquisitions, can be competitive as it was early this year. Not saying playoffs, but I think we at least could start to build something. Do need a new QB for anything consistent tho, but even a stopgap vet FA (assuming a couple guard upgrades heh) could keep us competitive imo. With a different fuging coaching staff anyway. This one is done.
  10. He was, but he also was in over his head. I think that he'd be good on a staff with tons of NFL experience and ideally with a successful former OC to learn from. But I think this was just too big a jump for him. He'll land on his feet some place I bet. He frequently got plays in too slowly and he seemed totally unable to adjust to anything defenses did in 2 seasons, which was a huge problem. Players were frequently out of position and it was clear we weren't practicing for critical moments like the red zone enough... He failed to take advantage of what we had too. As the team regressed in year 2, coaching seemed to really be at fault. He really relied heavily on a healthy CMC...
  11. Better than Paradis but still not good overall I think... He's not the worst on the OL at least but that isn't saying a ton. It's also hard to tell what is the C vs what is the Gs sometimes. But I'm no OL expert either.
  12. Their play on the field is doing plenty of talking.
  13. Did Miller go to Temple or Baylor or something? The loyalty to the guy is unreal. He's so bad. Giving him a shot was fine but man... Out interior is such a huge problem.
  14. Frankly all our rookies should be getting plenty of play time on Sunday. Need as much film as possible for the next coaching staff to work with.
  15. We do. This roster is not nearly as bad as it's played for the last ~3 months... That's on coaching.
  16. People didn't listen to the clip at all and took a very small piece out of context. That clip was bookended by Sam saying he should have recognized a blitz and on the other end by him saying he isn't playing well enough to win games. And the statement itself was a damn answer to a question about he and Cam suffering behind a bad OL. Cam was brought up in the question...
  17. I keep saying this is on coaching. It's frustrating to see DJ drop passes he can and usually does catch, yes. But when an entire receiving corps is dropping balls left and right, is quitting on routes, looks lost etc... The issue is above the players...
  18. Ahh. Thought it was a shot at rhules amazing roster building moves lol.
  19. Yup... Rhule can't get players to play with passion anymore... But maybe his culture all along is a sort of acceptance and apathy of poor play, I dunno
  20. Rhule also blamed Sam for Williams, it sounds like something he should have recognized and gone to a hot route for. Still, there were other plays that felt like they were on the OL completely...
  21. Bad coaching makes good players look worse too...
  22. Pff thinks 5 sacks were on Darnold. That seems high, but a couple definitely were.
  23. Hes gotten way worse the last 2 years btw. Big down turn. He was much more consistent years 1 and 2... His drop rate basically doubled from year 2 to 3 and 4...
  24. Did you just start paying attention to pressers again once Cam came back? He's said over and over "I need to play better", "I made x mistake", etc. Did you watch the segment btw? The reason Cam's name came up is because the reporter *brought Cam up* in a question, and asked if the OL play was at fault for QBs struggles. Darnold basically rephrased the question and said we aren't playing well enough. This was also just after he took responsibility for not seeing a free rusher lol. And the clip even ended with him saying *he* isn't good enough to win football games.
  25. There were plenty of drops when PJ and Cam were playing tbh. 3 of his 8 came in a 2 game stretch with those two. Chubba has had plenty of drops. Drops were overall worse very early... Robby seemed to play harder for Cam and PJ for one game but he's still been poo overall with or without Darnold ...
