It's so funny how Evero is incapable of ever adjusting the defense to actually put our best player on D on their best player. -

All you guys complaining about play calling - Bryce Young is the QB. What exactly do you call? He just chucks balls out of bounds and checks down instantly no matter what, if the drive isn't scripted. -

Shitty, shitty defense. Got to be better. -
If we'd beaten the saints I would 100% be sure we'd lose. Now ... I'm not sure. I half expect us to pull out a sloppy win where Bryce isn't as ass as usual.

I feel like early in the season we saw a few great YAC efforts by TMac where he caught the ball able to make a move. It's just really hard to do that with how limited the passing game is.
-
Tbh it was one of the high points of my Panthers fandom the last few years to see that kind of energy and confidence from a QB... I may not want to see him anymore but that pass was great.
-
Ugh come on I don't mind AI entirely but can we not just use it to randomly respond to posters.
-
Oh I don't want him here. I'd just rather watch his brand of football than Bryce's. I'd rather watch a competent QB over either.
-
I get that. Winning cures all, and shitty play is hard to watch. What I find difficult is he never feels like a threat - anything he does down field feels astonishing. When I watch Fields I find him frustrating because of how ineffective he can be but there are moments I just know he can break out a huge run or deliver an on target bomb 30 yards down field.
-
I don't know - perhaps it's because I've never needed to root for his team's, but I find him more entertaining as at least he can threaten every level of the field.
-
I do think with Fields you must include his rushing, where he has averaged 800 yards per season over 17 games. So he'd be at 3400 yards total in a season. Bryce in comparison is at 2900 yards passing plus 250 yards rushing so just a bit under Fields. Still not even impressive numbers for either of them. I personally found Fields more fun to watch l but I wouldn't choose either of them anymore.
-
I get this but I also think we'll never know exactly how Lance would have looked developing with Shanahan, longer term - he didn't look atrocious in his couple starts a few years ago for him, but he also was clearly a worse option. He was very raw. He's still only 25, and it does seem lately some of these guys right their career older than they used to. I doubt he is the answer but I am of the mind we still knock on every door as it were at least scouting wise (I know we're all good at scouting QBs, heh)

It seems unlikely we even end with a winning record at this point, and to do so, we definitely need to win this game.

ESPN's Benjamin Solak on Panthers QB situation
mav1234 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Regardless of how tall any of them actually are based on past measures, Stroud looks ~2-4 inches taller than Brees (Stroud isn't standing up straight so hard to say exactly) who looks 1-3 ( hair makes it hard to be sure) inches taller than Bryce. If Bryce is 5'10" Brees looks 6'. Maybe just, but still. -
There is some of that but honestly last draft was pretty good. I don't think we can evaluate him on QBs as long as Bryce Young is around. Somehow the guy captured the Teppers attention and the Panthers are those twos personal Madden experience, at least with a QB.
-
I mean if he throws too many picks, just run it. The threat of the deep ball will be more effective at opening up the run game than the threat of the 5 yard hail mary.

Dave Canales Panthers are 3-6 following a win
mav1234 replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is something quite similar though about the losses to the Cardinals and Saints. The blowouts tell me something different - I think the team losses confidence against complete teams rapidly. That is a coaching aspect, but also young players. Tbh, I can live with that for now if they beat the teams they're supposed to and give a good fight in other games (as they did). But the Cardinals and Saints games were stories of the offense either giving the game away or being unable to do ... Well, anything. While that is on Canales, too, both those games also featured standout (or truthfully standard) performances from our QB early and sometimes across the entire game. I do think it's hard to evaluate Canales when he has a QB that can't or won't execute an NFL offense for huge stretches or entire games. But there are signs of concern. Still, the very fact we had a win streak being a predictable as we were indicates the team has come along. And most of the team showed up vs the Saints, and I really think it's clear that was an incredibly winnable game with a different QB.
