  1. To be fair, Minshew actually had a pretty damn good year stats wise (and for the most part play wise), and he was benched a few games to secure the #1. There's only so much the QB coach can do with somebody like Mike Glennon etc... They turned to tanking a bit into the season too, didn't start out that way. Plus this team is such a dumpster fire, it's lucky anyone with significant NFL experience was willing to jump in.
  2. If 1300+ yards and 10 TDs is figured out... Sure. Otoh maybe it was also Manning's slow decline. McAdoo also gave up play calling in 2017 - the team didn't really improve without him calling plays. He was a bad HC all around. Better OC and offensive assistant more generally so hopefully that carries over here.
  3. Mcadoo did suck playcalling as HC but it had nothing to do with OBJ. OBJ was not figured out in 2016. He was highly productive. The offense wasn't great by any means, and I wonder if some of that was leaning on the D so much... Their rushing O was terrible 2016, but passing was still good. OBJ was injured in 2017, so... McAdoo was in over his head with both playcalling and HC. As just OC he seemed good, but he had excellent QB and Wr play.
  4. As bad as Rhule is, there's enough talent on this team I expect them to win 4 to 5 games. We may pick top 5.... But I doubt it will be #1 overall...
  5. Believe so, but he may have improved in that regard. Also may not be as much a problem for an OC. I'm actually surprised because this is the kind of move that could actually save the offense, although I expect it won't happen (him taking the job or being able to rehab the shitstain we call an O). Certainly better than the other options we've heard about, anyway.
  6. Wow, THE Scottie Montgomery? Glad they weren't kidding about about rock stars.
  7. Not unless Rhule does very well next year we aren't. He has to make the playoffs or I bet he's fired next year (barring something like an injury to the QB torpedoing a great offense)
  8. I mean, the few times the defense needed a stop in the 2nd half against decent opponents it just crumbled. And it often crumbled despite momentum from ST or the offense. So... Yeah. Average sounds right. Still far ahead of our offense but that isn't saying as much as it seemed midseason...
  9. Oh I agree but he Actually is better than what I expected. I was pretty sure we were going to get Nixon or someone Rhule knew from college that had position coaching experience just because nobody at all in their right mind should want to be here next year lol
  10. He also loved Rosen so a bit hit or miss there tbh. And not wanting Darnold at 3 is different from not liking him... Seems he saw him as a bigger developmental project than the Jets, that's all. Honestly he isn't the worst possible candidate because at least he has a ton of NFL experience.
  11. I doubt legit NFL coaches want anything to do in with our poo show.
  12. Darnold had terrible decision making when he had time. He has trouble reading defenses. Maybe if he had more time to do it he could get better at it but I doubt it. Our OL was one of the worst in the league in pass block win rate. The idea that any of our QBs had tons of time is wild.
  13. Other than a star OT, it seems much easier / more consistent to build the OL thru rounds after the 1st than it is to find a good QB, too. I do think we need to invest in the OL this offseason but ideally this is the last time we will be in the top 10 for a while, so if Fitterers guys are sold on one of these QBs I do hope we take them. I just worry what Rhule would do to a rookie QB. Dude is such an awful coach he might ruin whomever it is...
  14. Ah you mean in last year's draft? I mean, other than Tom Brady, what playoff teams are running with a QB not taken in the first round? Dallas and Philly? QBs often take time to make as much of an impact as OL. Not always, but usually.
  15. Er? By what measure? This isn't true. In general OL is critical but so is QB. It's technically easier to build an OL outside the first round, harder to do so for QB. But I'm not great at evaluating QBs to know if any of these are worthwhile. Unfortunately it looks like our staff is just as bad a I am lol.
  16. None of those three were can't miss. Burrows was a one year wonder, Tua had HUGE concerns about durability, and Herbert had injury history / leadership questions. This doesn't mean those criticisms were valid but they were not can't miss prospects.
  17. Trading back isn't easy in weak QB classes though, and the best OL are going to go pretty high. Trading back could let us get ab IOL but that's betting a lot on BC.
  18. not knowing how good someone is, is still better than knowing someone is fuging garbage
  19. Darnold is a veteran that just had one of the worst seasons of a starting QB in the NFL - his fourth consecutive case for being the worst starter in the league. Jones and fields are both promising rookies - one of whom had a better season than Darnold outright, and the other of which flashed great talent repeatedly, but is still raw...
  20. Right but everything you're saying is no different from "Rhule is fuging incompetent" which is true of the explanation he gave as well as the personnel choices he makes on the field. Horn may very well be a better player and a better fit, but he had to go stuff his foot in his mouth anyway. He just comes off as having no clue what he's doing or saying often lately.
  21. Yeah the thing is everyone makes mistakes in the draft. But not everyone tries to make it sound like they actually weren't wrong etc. It's okay to like one player over another but you don't need to come off like an idiot in saying that. Horn may very well be a better pick long-term. That will never justify rhules comments lol
