  1. Liking and buying in are definitely two different things. The claim the players had already checked out/were thinking of boycotting etc suggests a dissatisfaction that could prevent success. But I think those stories are just a fake narrative.
  2. I understand this take but with weird posters claiming players are widely unhappy etc it's good to read/listen to someone that is very in touch with the players supporting the Tepper decision, as it does kinda counter some of the other misinformation. Not at all trying to kick Wilks when he's down etc with that. But fug Rhule and his college poo.
  3. Sounds like a lack of investment in the process, hmmm
  4. Rhule was a bad hire and not a good coach, but while his resume was certainly inflated early on, it says an awful lot about Jeff Saturday that Rhule has a decade more coaching experience and so much more to show for it than Saturday...
  5. I know if nothing else changes but I really don't know that would be the case. Yes the bucs sucked BAD but maybe they don't look as bad against ATL with a playoff spot on the line etc etc... Hard to know. All I mean is it's no guarantee Wilks gets us in the playoffs, though I wouldn't have been surprised if he had. Fwiw I think Reich does too.
  6. You want a thread exclusively for talking strategy moving forward for Reich, make one. This thread's title is pretty damn general and many fans like the fluff and old images.
  7. It did not seem a particularly well called game. The Bengals also had a few very sloppy plays...as did the chiefs, and not all of it got called on them. It's unfortunate that shitty officiating got in the way of a great game.
  8. Other angles make it pretty clear he shoved him. Idiotic play regardless from a player that had a great game before that.
  9. Agreed... Just... No more retreads... A bridge is fine... But we need to build around a prospect and keep trying until it works out. But honestly I'm afraid we'll be going for Carr or something...
  10. Hmm, maybe. I think we only win at most 2 more games, and perhaps only that browns game because remember Darnold was hurt. That may have been enough with tiebreakers. Wilks is was a fine coach but it makes sense to go in a different direction on the other side of the ball.
  11. Matt Ryan was atrocious last year but he was 3-3-1 with Reich. He was 1-4 without him ...
  12. Referring to Wilks? Definitely....
  13. Last year counts... But so do past years and future plans.
  14. And a large group of vets and team leaders supported the decision to go with Reich... I like Wilks but we needed an offensive coach for once
  15. Reich is aggressive, offense minded, and has worked with a slew of different QBs from superstars to washouts to just good backups with solid to excellent results on the offensice end. Winning record in 3 of 4 years and playoffs in 2, and that's with a new QB every year. He's less inspiring to fans but his resume is excellent. He isn't my first choice but my first choice stayed in Detroit lol
  16. Okay but 2 of those guys have worse career winning percentages than Reich. I love all three too and would take them in a second (which is why I wanted one of the younger OCs), but Reich has a pretty good record.
  17. I agree with everything you said - but I don't really see evidence of this being Reich coddling up to Tepper. That's all I meant in my previous post. I completely get not being excited by a retread coach. He definitely has cons (as did my favorites in Johnson and Steichen), but he looks to be more promising than Wilks. I'm hoping somehow he gets Fangio in here, too. Sounds like he has good coordinator connections.
  18. Reich went 50-43-1 overall, with only one losing season out of the four complete seasons... He was fired while 3-5-1, but it seems Irsay is insane. Given the tumult there after Lucks retirement, that is pretty good record tho. It may seem a lot like Rivera's record but what a lot of people point out is Rivera basically rode Cam to that. Hard to argue that for Reich given the many QBs he's had.
  19. Okay, so who actually has a better resume than Reich? I'd agree Tepper seems to be playing it safer with this hire relative to his last one, but I don't see how this is a poorly made choice made over meatballs or something. Reich has an impressive resume, he's just not as exciting to fans.
  20. Not true on Reich, at least in terms of interviews.
  21. Reich has an extremely strong resume, tho. Outside of Payton, the strongest overall in terms of experience with an offensive focus. Plus he has worked some QB magic at times, too.
  22. I personally like what Steichen has done lately but Reich feels like he was doing similar things for QBs before Steichen.
  23. Regarding the second version of this thread, I don't mind discussion around tweets/the search, but maybe save the draft status of future QBs for a different thread. Very curious to see which of those virtuals become in person, how many 2nd interviews we have, etc...
  24. Well doesn't he seem enthusiastic. Good for Denver. I'd like to keep our first rounders.
