  1. Hate this for him... really hope the report is wrong.
  2. CJ was definitely above BY, but I read it as CJ being "strong to above average for the NFL", but with incredible accuracy / feel for timing, and not the greatest on the move, and BY being "average for the nfl" but with elasticity to have the same velocity throwing from various angles, off balance, when scrambling, etc. Like top end was below CJs, but not by as much as it definitely seems to be so far...
  3. CJ - I felt he had all the tools and was so impressed vs Georgia. Plus, I wanted him because I felt he had a high ceiling but also was generally the guy that was the most likely to have a good career. Both AR and BY were huge risks in completely opposite ways.
  4. CJ didn't even have some super arm. He just has a good arm. AR was the dude with a freak arm. BY wasn't supposed to be this far behind CJ in arm strength according to scouting reports I read...
  5. I don't know if his height is an issue or not, but I'm more concerned with his arm strength right now. Whether he doesn't trust his arm/what he sees, or just can't make the throws, he isn't able to stretch the field the way he needs to.
  6. For me it's mostly the arm strength given the way he likes to play / played in college... There's glimpses of the mental game and scramble / play making, I think, but if he can't use that supposed "arm elasticity" to deliver the ball in those situations, it hardly matters...
  7. My biggest concern is that Bryce's arm looks ridiculously weak, far more so than I expected. He was supposed to have average NFL arm strength and he just looks... not that. Maybe he's trying to put too much touch on balls? I don't know, but in the first half a couple of incompletions would have been complete with a stronger arm to fit into the brief openings he did find...
  8. Can't say I have much to hang my hat on so far, but it's only two games, so here's hoping his next one he turns the page.
  9. Young is not looking good at all so far. Hopefully, they find some rhythm but he just seems unable to get the ball downfield at all, whether due to our receivers, play calls, or Young himself... can't tell. Fwiw, our defense seems completely unprepared for Hill... blech.
  10. The concussion appeared to come on a TD run... I unfortunately agree with you... it's the Cam conundrum, tho. You draft a guy for those physical skills, you don't want to just give up on them
  11. NFL refs are a joke. Ridiculous the calls they miss and make.
  12. Concussion:/. Or at least in the protocol
  13. Talk of Stroud not reading the field well doesn't seem true, at least not in this game.
  14. For sure. We can support and like all three young QBs and hope they all succeed. Total overreaction to think we made the wrong choice
  15. Appreciate that! Just my thoughts. It's totally possible he'll never be aggressive in the NFL because he may never feel comfortable enough with the game to be so. I hope that is not the case, but plenty of rookies end up playing scared at the next level. So we will see.
  16. There's a bit of a difference between safe and cautious. At times last week he was cautious but in college he certainly played aggressively when he needed to. He was a play maker by extending plays etc and I think we will see more of that as he grows... I remember some pre draft videos where he was fitting the ball into windows that would be called risky.
  17. What's to develop? We already know he's a failed draft pick since he didn't put up 100 yards and 2 TDs in his first game. Why settle for mediocrity?!?!?!!
  18. Weird to come away with such different feeling... I thought the video highlighted some great plays and ways we will hopefully see Bryce improve in the future...
  19. Lots of reasons to be upset at Fitt, but Horn specifically isn't a very good one. On the other hand, general depth at CB does seem fair...
  20. Bryce Young wasn't good.... for a veteran. But for his first game, it wasn't bad... the film breakdown supports that IMO. Maybe it's me, but I'm happy when I see a rookie early in the season have a couple of good drives in the game. Ideally we will be seeing development quickly. I get harder on players by the mid and end of the season... but right now, eh... still a lot to learn. He definitely made his share of mistakes. All we've heard suggests he will learn and grow from them... we'll see. And an awesome, incredibly useful thread here. Thanks OP and huddle fans for the good discussions to read so far.
  21. Can't blame the GM for the injury bug that has bit Horn... I don't think Horn had a serious injury history in college, did he? Hopefully he comes back from this quick, but I'm not exactly hopeful for his longevity.
  22. Seems our short yardage problems never are resolved...
  23. Him playing is because both he and the team expect a deal to get done to keep him here, imo, even if they're apart now.
  24. It's okay to be disappointed and even frustrated or say a bit upset that we aren't seeing better play, but realistically this is preseason for a team with new coaches and new players at key positions... Now, preseason isn't inspiring any confidence in me, but eh, it doesn't need to. I'll wait until week 1 to overreact;)
