  1. trading the farm is an expression that doesn't mean you are actually crippling the team in every way by actually trading all of your farm system (or draft picks in this case since there's no farm system in the NFL)... But we were going to send HOU multiple first rounders/equivalent value... and we'd probably need to do the same to move up to draft a QB in this draft.
  2. Never know what we'll do. New coach, Tepper is clearly willing to bet the farm and Fitterer is in on every deal. A trade up for someone seems likely but I think it'll be after CJ is already gone... Which I understand but would love to have him be a Panther.
  3. I'm not sure - If you defer, you are only guaranteed the ball for one possession to score. If you take the kick, you are guaranteed two possessions or the win as long as you can start with a TD.
  4. almost like us fans aren't involved in personnel decisions for a reason
  5. Coping? What are you talking about? My preference, as I've said over and over, is for us to pick a young OC. Doesn't mean I deny Wilks did a good job with what he had.
  6. I'm not saying he'll make the right choice, but I don't think this is true, or he'd have definitely gone all in on Harbaugh.
  7. I think it's fair to say our defense didn't improve with Wilks but there are mitigating factors, including injuries and what you point out. However, I don't think he really has a resume of being a coach of exceptional defensive units from what I recall. No denying his ability to motivate though.
  8. If you believe the draft value chart, Buffalo traded a pick worth 1300 for 680 (27th) + 136 (91) in 2017 and a first rounder in 2018 that if we assume average value (mid point of the 1st or 1000 in year of trade, halved to 500 since it's a year later) would be 500 for a total of 1316 or nearly spot in for exact value of the pick. In some ways the Bills may have bet on that 2018 pick being worth more than it was - it's actual pick at 22 meant it woulda been worth less (780) than mid-point of the round.
  9. Yes probably but the reality is this class on it's face does not look like a huge huge upgrade over Fields... And I think they'd get much less return from trading Fields than from trading the first.
  10. I think they started with a much, much larger list and this is what's left of it. Appears to be a mix of previous experience and new up and comers, mostly leaning towards offense. Seems like a good pool so far
  11. Wow you've really outsmarted the league here... Seen right into Teppers true plans of genius. Misdirection at its finest. Why waste our time on some low ceiling OC that has transformed young seemingly mediocre QBs into excellent players when we can get someone that really understands the process?
  12. Where's Hurney? We need an outside consultant immediately to switch on recruiting mode behind the scenes before the Giants[edit: obviously not them but whomever we actually are competing with for coaches next year] get wind of our plans
  13. so on a very rudimentary comparison, just based on Pro Football Reference's expected points, and excluding the shitshow of a NO game because of who was missing on D and the fact the O just... I have no idea what that was... anyway... The offense saw a veritable explosion, with more ppg (22.2 vs 18.6) and more total yards (331 vs 271) owed primarily to more rushing yards (but a small amount more passing). Opponents had about the same but with more passing yards (~30 more pg) but fewer rushing yards (~30 pg). When we consider PFR's "expected points" values as averages over their time as HCs, the offense with Rhule underperformed (-7.7), but overperformed with Wilks (3.8) vs expectations given how their opponents play. The defense under Rhule slightly outperformed (-1.2) it under Wilks (-4.5). If we throw in the NO game, the defense stays mostly the same but with a slight improvement in expected points (to -3.9), but the offense loses a bit and looks worse under Wilks than Rhule. So not a nose dive, but also I'd say slightly worse. Owed mostly to injuries? Maybe... though the points we gave up in his first month was awful.
  14. Someone had made a post comparing before and after Wilks, but it was before the NO game, so the comparison isn't necessarily valid. One strong mitigating factor is timing of injuries, though, and also IMO Burns' overuse, which is less a Wilks issue and more a depth issue.
  15. Wilks didn't take Rhule's job. Rhule lost his job and Wilks took over. I don't think a young OC rising to HC is going to worry about that much.
  16. I think a young HC coming from an OC background will know they need a strong DC. I'm not sure Wilks recognizes that.
  17. Lutz's second FG was blocked, but yeah. Was a shitshow of a game all around
  18. I'm in the same boat. I have some personal thoughts, but also know that none of us are going to privy to the interview, until maybe we hear someone made Tepper meatballs again and his wife had to restrain him from whipping out more than his checkbook at dinner. I am leaning not-Wilks right now but I recognize that he has had a good overall run as interim HC and if the right questions are asked and he comes out on top, awesome, that's great for him as I'd be excited for him personally.
  19. This has been happening to me a lot - If I wait long enough, usually a page becomes "interactable" again. Not sure what's up, it only seems an issue on the last page. I was wondering if it was my adblocker. edit: Definitely gets worse as more posts are added to a page - I've seen a few other posters comment on this too.
  20. I don't know what exactly is meant by haul but we absolutely have to go out and get the QB we like if we are in position to do so. Enough with retreads and reclamation projects. We're interviewing a boatload of QB gurus and offensive coordinators for a reason.
  21. I actually think Burns was exhausted by the end of the season and maybe slightly injured. In general our best DL did not get enough breathers and I think it showed in the TB game. Still, despite how hard some guys fought the team still fell short and/or sucked at key times. I just don't know if Wilks is the answer - leaning more towards not, tbh. But as I've said, he deserves an interview and if he has a good plan I hope Tepper goes with him.
  22. And even against the Saints, we were bailed out by Sam fuging Darnold turning into Sam Newton and, after completing like one total pass, throwing a dart to move us into FG position. Admittedly Burns wasn't playing but our team looked dead...
  23. This is awesome... Would love to get a chance with him as our HC...
  24. that might be true but our division is a combined 29-39, so is that really saying muhc?
