  1. Darnold makes sense for them, I could see him being a decent starter until Purdy is healthy. I don't think he'll get them a Superb Owl, but still.
  2. Really hope it's CJ if it's down to Stroud vs Levis...
  3. This is... Surprisingly little compensation. Only giving up a first rounder next year is a massive win. I love DJ and his departure leaves a big hole, but if we were gonna move up this is about as good a deal as we could expect....
  4. I think in this context people are talking about elite like "can't miss" / "generational" Luck/Manning kind of prospect, since there are also elite prospects in this draft
  5. Certainly it's a big risk to move to #1. We can state risk without making such a specific player comparison. Leaf had character flaws, and didn't go #1. So he's an odd comparison to make. I don't think there are many sure fire guys.... So I'm less concerned about that. I don't love the idea of giving up so many picks for any player, but I also think that without a great QB we are limited. So, my opinion is that if we're completely sold on a prospect, they're worth a couple extra firsts. We brought this staff in to develop a QB. Time to do it.
  6. There will be more than 2 teams interested - it's still very early, I think.
  7. Carr and his people aren't dumb. They'll be anticipating that and acting like they'll go for a teddy Bridgewater level deal in equivalent dollars seems dumb.
  8. 35 mill is quite a bit more than 20 mill. That's a lot less roster flexibility... AND most people were very unhappy with Darnold's 20 mill. Teddy's was fine and I'd be fine paying a bridge QB that or that range. I don't think Carr comes here for 30 mill but maybe I'm wrong. However, I don't think Carr wants to go some place that is being partially rebuilt to hold a seat for a rookie for a couple years. If we get him, he's out long term starter, and he will expect us to build a team around him, not around a first round rookie. We may draft a rookie QB at some point this draft and may even get a first rounder QB in his time here if we pick him up, but it just doesn't make sense to spend both 35 mill AND the 9th overall (or more) on your QB of the future. And my preference is just through the draft right now.
  9. Carr is underrated by a large portion of this board and I wouldn't object dependent on his price (as if they'd ask me lol). But I just feel for our staff we've built it makes more sense to grab a rookie this year, a vet 2 year bridge guy, and build the rest of the roster. Carr would immediately make us better and imo the favorites for the division but I'd rather have the flexibility of a drafted QBs contract while our new staff builds the roster.
  10. Sam wasn't a rookie. We need a QB with upside and potential to build around and Sam isn't it.
  11. Good for Wilks and I wish him nothing but the best. I wanted an offensive coach but appreciate what he did last year given the circumstances.
  12. Can't help but think Evero may find ways to put Chinn back in position to succeed. Curious to read more about the hire in the coming days. Great move by the team.
  13. Liking and buying in are definitely two different things. The claim the players had already checked out/were thinking of boycotting etc suggests a dissatisfaction that could prevent success. But I think those stories are just a fake narrative.
  14. I understand this take but with weird posters claiming players are widely unhappy etc it's good to read/listen to someone that is very in touch with the players supporting the Tepper decision, as it does kinda counter some of the other misinformation. Not at all trying to kick Wilks when he's down etc with that. But fug Rhule and his college poo.
  15. Sounds like a lack of investment in the process, hmmm
  16. Rhule was a bad hire and not a good coach, but while his resume was certainly inflated early on, it says an awful lot about Jeff Saturday that Rhule has a decade more coaching experience and so much more to show for it than Saturday...
  17. I know if nothing else changes but I really don't know that would be the case. Yes the bucs sucked BAD but maybe they don't look as bad against ATL with a playoff spot on the line etc etc... Hard to know. All I mean is it's no guarantee Wilks gets us in the playoffs, though I wouldn't have been surprised if he had. Fwiw I think Reich does too.
  18. You want a thread exclusively for talking strategy moving forward for Reich, make one. This thread's title is pretty damn general and many fans like the fluff and old images.
  19. It did not seem a particularly well called game. The Bengals also had a few very sloppy plays...as did the chiefs, and not all of it got called on them. It's unfortunate that shitty officiating got in the way of a great game.
  20. Other angles make it pretty clear he shoved him. Idiotic play regardless from a player that had a great game before that.
  21. Agreed... Just... No more retreads... A bridge is fine... But we need to build around a prospect and keep trying until it works out. But honestly I'm afraid we'll be going for Carr or something...
  22. Hmm, maybe. I think we only win at most 2 more games, and perhaps only that browns game because remember Darnold was hurt. That may have been enough with tiebreakers. Wilks is was a fine coach but it makes sense to go in a different direction on the other side of the ball.
