  1. tbf, very few players can. Stroud has a better arm than Young and he couldn't make that throw either IMO. But he can make other throws that Young might struggle with to opposite siides of the field etc.
  2. There are far more draft profiles that list his arm strength as not elite. Dunno what to tell you. He's got the weakest arm of the top prospects in terms of strength, but he can still be plenty good. Arm strength can be overrated IMO.
  3. Not a noodle arm, though. Just not elite. Still good enough to be a high level starter.
  4. He doesn't have a noodle arm, but: " The deep ball is nothing special and his drive velocity fails to stand out, but he has enough arm strength to make the necessary throws. " https://www.nfl.com/prospects/bryce-young/3200594f-5512-4763-ab24-c1bd051ef0ef "Negatives: — Arm strength is not bad, but more would help ease size concerns." https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10048341-bryce-young-nfl-draft-2023-scouting-report-for-alabama-qb "Young’s arm is strong enough, but he doesn’t have elite arm strength. His velocity is good, but has a visible cap and can be inconsistent. He sometimes fails to push that velocity to the deep third. " https://www.profootballnetwork.com/bryce-young-qb-alabama-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2023/ More than good enough to be a good starter though.
  5. Stroud has better arm strength than Young. But Young isn't particularly bad. Other than his height and build, his arm strength is one of his only negatives, and it's more of a "not amazing but good enough" than a true negative. It's come up in a few of the videos I've watched. Stroud routinely displays impressive arm strength but doesn't have a cannon.
  6. I'm tired of rumor posts so I rarely post in them anymore and I get the exhaustion of them. But this is awesome content. Whether he's a Panther after the draft or not, clearly a young man worth rooting for. Thanks for sharing OP!
  7. If the only thing Cam brings over other backups is his personality there aren't many / any teams that would use a roster spot on him. A few of those teams he named could definitely use his veteran presence and experience but I fear that actions like this list reinforce what I felt were untrue opinions about his willingness to be a team player for any team. I think he has bad advisors and it makes me sad because I think he's still good for a few games as a backup per year and in goal line, and he has a lot he can teach younger players imo. But how many teams want a back up that will openly state they are only willing to play for a few teams... Comes off as arrogant.
  8. Fwiw I agree with your interpretation of change the game. Young looks dynamic and fun but I don't see how he fundamentally changes the game. Small QBs don't somehow play football differently or score points differently.
  9. A leap implies that he is behind the curve... He's a 2nd year player on a meh team and he was in the top ten in a ton of categories for a QB... you say 25 TDs like it's a bad thing - he was 9th in the league in TDs thrown. He also had another 5 rushing. He was 9th in the league in QB rating, too. His 1.4% ints thrown per pass was tied with Justin Herbert (as was his # of TDs)... If his improvements continue, even without some kinda leap, he's one of the best QBs in the league probably. Seems like you're taking the generational talent moniker to mean he should dominate from the start... I think people put too much stock in that. I didn't expect a #1 draft pick to be the best QB in the league in his first year or two.
  10. There was no predraft drama at all around his selection, and post draft was quite a disappointment given the coach etc. It is very rare a #1 draft pick is overshadowed by his shithead of a HC, but that was the case for Lawrence. But he had a very strong 2nd year. If we get his production in the second year of our #1, we'll be ecstatic. Lawrence taking "another leap" means he's a top 3 QB in the league... Dude already had 4.4k total yards, 30 total TDs, only 8 INTs. He still has room to grow but a leap implies he didn't play quite well last year.
  11. Mediocre coach, great person by all appearances. I don't think these comments about Lamar move the needle on him in any direction.
  12. Why would Arizona trade with us? And Will Anderson at #1 would be such masterful trolling on the part of this entire organization I would be absolutely down for the chaos it would cause hahahaha
  13. The comment on Young's drop backs mirrors what I've seen. But I'd be curious how last year compares to this for him. His receivers did him little favors, though when they were open early it would appear he couldn't see it (or wasn't looking their way)
  14. Hope it goes well for him. I don't want him at our draft position but I was excited about his potential at 9.
  15. Stroud has definitely had better receivers overall, but it's not like Young had nobody to throw to in 2021, which as a season is a big contributor to his draft stock. My biggest concern with Young is his durability... He's just much smaller at his playing weight than even other shorter QBs. But he got it done in college and I wouldn't be surprised if he excelled when on the field in the pros.
  16. could you imagine the chaos here if we traded the #1 pick for him? Lol
  17. Nice, good for him! always liked him. fwiw, this is why I love this board. aggregating interesting Panthers-related content from all sorts of sources. Appreciate it @GRWatcher!
  18. Unless HOU is enamored with Levis, we could have had him at #3 most likely. So, if they are, claiming we're very interested could create impetus for them to try to swap picks with us. But I kinda doubt it. They'd have to believe we might be moving down to #3 instead.
  19. That's a good question, Mr. Snow. How are you responsible for the Panthers draft!
  20. I highly doubt we trade down, but in a world where Houston is enamored with Levis and it's obvious, you never know. I don't think we are in that world but there's plenty of time left.
  21. I think you have to be very comfortable with at least one of the QBs and probably two to make the trade they did. I think they probably have an idea, but aren't yet 100% sold on who they will take.
  22. There is a small possibility we trade down, though I doubt it happens. I don't think they know for sure yet who they are drafting though.
  23. Darnold is at best a #2. Signing him tells me they're long term banking on Purdy getting healthy as their answer. Otherwise maybe they try to go for a better backup. Lance may not even be a #2, at least right now. He has looked the worst of the starting QBs on the niners. The 49ers are good enough a #2 can look very good.
  24. I was under the impression Purdy won't see the field for quite a bit of 2024. Hence why I said until Purdy was healthy. No way Darnold starts over him. Lance... Seems not very good. He could definitely turn it around. But I'm skeptical. I think the 49ers are, too.
