  1. for sure, he may also get better offers than what we're willing to pay if his next games are at this level.
  2. and drafting a QB doesn't preclude us from bringing Darnold back if he continues to play well the rest of the season...
  3. questionable... so you're saying there's a chance?! but in all seriousness, fug. hope it isn't too serious
  4. are we really having an argument about Burns in *this* game?
  5. he's thrown so many picks in his career even with the last 3 games started he's actually averaged an interception per game started. 52 starts, 52 ints. Is this a new Sam? I hope so, but he's historically had 3-4 games of decent play. Happy for him and have no problem bringing him back for cheap.
  6. I missed the first drive - are you talking about that? or the ball that he was hit throwing? That woulda been a phenomenal catch
  7. this is probably Darnold's best half, very impressive placement and using different depths but his inability to connect with Moore is very rough. need to iron that out!
  8. at least vs the Steelers our D made them really grind it out
  9. At very least, he is showing he has good potential as a backup. Protecting the ball and making the smart plays. Maybe with time he'll grow into carrying McAdoo's offense the way we all want...
  10. I don't think this makes a lot of sense. Very few QBs outside the first round work well... Better to try our luck at a first round prospect we like and try again if it doesn't work out.
  11. There's no one formula that is the only thing that works, but even the Rams drafted a QB very high and rode him to the SB. Sure they then built a roster the most unorthodox way ever after to win, but still. Hard to argue they didn't have success with their first rounder.
  12. Yeah np - I think most of us appreciate thoughtful analyses and there's a few out there on this. I was very sure QBs busted more than anyone else yesterday and decided I'd see if my suspicions were right and turns out it is nowhere near that simple.
  13. I actually think the whole "Qbs bust more than anyone else" thing is a bit overstated. They're one of the harder groups but year to year it depends, sometimes they aren't as bad as others. Some analyses suggest other positions can be more prone to busts: https://walterfootball.com/nfldraftoffensivetackles.php https://theriotreport.com/more-than-50-of-first-round-picks-are-busts-and-other-terrifying-draft-statistics/2/ https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2441018-which-positions-are-the-safest-riskiest-at-the-top-of-the-nfl-draft Kinda seems like QBs have one of the highest bust rates (not the highest) but also if they're first round hits they tend to be very good. Not surprising tbh given QBs are drafted for their potential as much as existing ability.
  14. I think something happened in interviews with Fields that made teams doubt him somehow. I just don't understand how else it happened. I'm not saying that was deserved, I think he's developing nicely overall and wouldn't be surprised if he's one of the top 5 QBs in the league in the next 3 years. But, he was 1b for like two years. Something happened.
