  1. We don't have the players for man, either - I don't know that he's a great d coordinator, but can't really judge from this shitshow of injuries.
  2. I'm not convinced BY can win us games consistently against good competition... But he's gotten to a point where he isn't usually the reason we lose, and had a nice stretch of keeping us competitive. So... Let's keep building the team (especially defense), not reach for a QB but if we get someone in the later rounds the coaches like, keep adding to the QB room and have a bit of competition in camp.
  3. He had a chance to break the single season rushing record for a Canadian... Hopefully he isn't seriously injured...
  4. He was not very good vs the Cowboys in that same time frame - maybe better than Stroud vs the Ravens but overall he was very bad.
  5. I feel like the Cowboys game is a more appropriate comparison given they're more similar shellackings at a similar point in the season. In both cases a strong pass rush threw off a young QBs ability to read the field well. Imo, Young still outperformed Stroud - in that game in specific.
  6. I know it's a meaningless game on a season he's been pretty healthy but I really do not love any injury related to Horn. Just concerns me.
  7. Agreed. Stroud will be fine. He'll adjust. But their FO NEEDS to prioritize OL this offseason imo. Been a really terrible year for Houston, injury wise... I think Houston's weapons will be fine (well maybe not Dell from reports ). Just such a rough year for them. We'll see how next year goes for him. Hopefully our OL continues its high level play, as it's really helped Bryce adjust to the NFL. I still believe a good OL is a young QBs best weapon.
  8. Oh I'm not saying our OL was better or that our QBs weren't under constant pressure. I watched almost all our games and I watched several Texans games... Their OL was very bad too. The numbers reflect that. I think that Stroud's decline this year is a reflection of the type of pressures he's taking, the lack of consistency in who he is playing with weapons wise, and a sophomore slump.
  9. It's not a false narrative. One poster posted career stats to clearly argue the gap isn't close; you posted their since week 8, then quoted yourself to sum the TDs and just said "context matters." If what you meant by that was "Stroud is obviously still ahead but Bryce is playing better", I'd agree with you, but you could see why "12v10" or whatever it was may not convey that, no?
  10. Overall I don't disagree with you. But you are downright wrong about Stroud not being pressured on drop backs last year. He was hurried a lot, hit quite a bit, etc last year. This is per game... Chart courtesy Icege. To put those numbers in context of how often they dropped back, Bryce was pressured on 24% of his dropbacks last year; Stroud 22%. Bryce is actually being pressured on MORE dropbacks this year than he was last year; 25%. Stroud is at 27%. Stroud's offensive line was bad, and it was barely above ours last year. But as you point out, he had a better scheme and weapons (and a defense to lean on). This year, his weapons have missed TONS of time. The D hasn't been as good. The OL fell even further off a cliff and they didn't invest like we did in OL. We spend a lot of time talking about supporting cast - let's not forget the OL investment we made for Bryce.
  11. There's a difference between closing the gap and claiming they're at the same place, which is clearly what is being meant by posting stats out of context. Clearly the gap is closing given the original story is basically arguing that the gap was "may not last in NFL" versus "potentially one of the top players at his position" and regardless of where Stroud is now, Bryce at least will be here next year, so that's a MASSIVE movement on Bryce's part.
  12. When we need to exclude some games because they don't fit our narrative, it's not great. Stroud is having an overall better 2nd season than Young. Let's see what Y3 holds for them both.
  13. Earlier in the season I felt like he made some great catches but missed some easy ones. As time went on, he seemed to have more and more trouble, which I think corresponds to injuries and perhaps exhaustion. Not saying he's gonna be great, just that I want to see another year of him. I do think we have a Serious problem with WR talent eval and development tho. We miss on virtually every WR somehow.
  14. My response was to your comment specifically about two of the three QBs referenced. You said they were "just ball distributors." They were not. You then said in Y2 they were... They still were not. Brady won a Superbowl and Manning was considered a generational talent. We don't need to compare BY to these guys. As to Brock Purdy, he's had a great 2.5 seasons in one of the NFLs best offenses. And still, that offense has been better with him than any backup as well as any QB before him. It'll be interesting to see how the 9ers handle him. If your point is that the greatest of all time aren't the greatest of all time in their first couple seasons, you can just say that without denigrating some of the best QBs to ever play...
  15. XL doesn't look good, I didn't say that. I said he wasn't particularly bad for a rookie. There are some bright spots. He needs to develop to not be a bust, while most of those guys will have a place on a roster even if they don't.
  16. I mean Bears offense isn't too different - young QB that is VERY up and down. XL has had a veteran that wouldn't start hardly anywhere else and a QB with the worst rookie season of all time. Not a great situation and he's done OK in it. Lots still to work on. Pearsall isn't doing comparable work because he hasn't been on the field (170 yards and 1 TD).
  17. Peyton Manning had 7k yards and 50 TDs in his first two years What type of QB do you think that is? Brady had 20 wins, 6.5k yards, and 45+ TDs in his first two years starting...
  18. Sure, but despite being targeted less, he has more TDs than Odunze and more y/r than Nabers (and same number of TDs). He's got a very similar y/r as Worthy. He isn't stacking up that poorly to other WRs, but he has trailed off late - something that imo may indicate injury or needing to improve conditioning. He's not ever gonna be the best WR in this draft class, but he'll be in the top 3-5 with a bit of improvement imo.
  19. Hahaha BY Reap. That was funny. I really love our OL... Hope we can find a way to keep these guys around for a while.
  20. Not taking Ladd already looks bad, tho how much of that is where he landed etc is hard to say. I really hope we can find ways the next couple games to specifically feature Coker and Sanders so we can better evaluate them
  21. I wouldn't hate this but I'm not convinced TMac will be the best player available And I will say if we've invested two first round receivers into our first round QB we better have one of the best offenses in the NFL next year lol. That is so much draft capital.
  22. I will say on the investing in the offense bit - I really think we need to invest far more in our defense this offseason, to the point that I don't want to ignore our offense but feel if must be treated basically like we treated our defense last year. We are clearly losing games because of our D now. And some of that is because, yes, I think we invested a ton in the offense this year and whomever is our QB needs to be able to run a functioning offense with what we have and a minor upgrade or two.
