Why do people think Bryce Young won this game yesterday?
mav1234 replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think you are severely underestimating just how bad Bryce Young has been in his career to date statistically. Does that mean he'll ALWAYS be that bad? No, of course not. Perhaps some day that'll change. -

I'd say he's definitely in the bottom half of starting QBs and maybe bottom third. But I don't really care if his label was generational talent. Bryce Young's was super computer. Lawrence wasn't a bigger bust, because he's actually produced significantly more, unless your definition of bust is not actual play but media/fan expectations - in which case, Bryce's was also very high, so I'm not really sure, and if you're talking expectations you have to talk cost because that is part of what built those expectations. Just in terms of pure play to date, Lawrence has been significantly better than Bryce Young and has two decent seasons. Is he a good QB? I don't think so. -

It's particularly telling you leave out 2023 and choose Lawrence's injured year. By no means do I think he's a great QB, but ... Career to date stats - Trevor Lawrence - 62.9% completion percentage, 230 YPG, 3.4% TDs, 2.2% INTs, 6.7 Y/A, total of 1.36 TDs per game (including rushing) Bryce Young - 60.4% completion percentage, 175 YPG, 3.2% TD, 2.2% INTs, 5.8 Y/A, total of 1.18 TDs per game (including rushing) There is no category in which Bryce is better across his career to date. Lawrence is a lower end starter. Bryce may not even reach that bar. -

Players like you described can win some games and do well. But they also can't be top of the league in turnovers while doing so... -

Trevor Lawrence has had multiple seasons throwing for 3.5-4k yards. He's not the generational talent people thought but he also isn't terrible. -

Bryce Young isn’t a bust, the Panthers are | SB Nation https://share.google/oYybGvyvzUOIgbplX From a couple months back, came up on a quick Google about Bryce Youngs processing ability. Emphases how struggles are not his fault but the poor team built around him. I don't really feel like looking for others; it's similar to various things said across the league. -
Agreed. He would absolutely get signed elsewhere too after the success of other failed early draft picks at second stops.

And just look at quite a lot of the media after he came back from his benching last year. Of course a lot of us were fooled by that too... -
Oh lmao I missed it, sorry. Pre coffee mountain time zone
-
I wonder where he ranks in total turnovers. 3rd in fumbles and 3rd in INTs is real rough.

I've been looking a bit this morning for anything other than speculation... At this point those trades haven't been reported elsewhere so I suspect they're just rumors (or in progress).

I think there may be a difference of opinion of if limit / ceiling refers to typical games or the best possible outting by him. For some ceiling is meant in a career sense (what I think you mean) and others it's in a per game sense. I get both sides... if someone says game manager is a player's ceiling they don't mean they'll never possibly lead a team to victory on their shoulders ever, just not something consistent. But that isn't technically what ceiling refers to usually outside a sports players projections for a career

Bryce CAN throw a good ball but he throws those ugly ducks so often. I don't know if others have been picked off but they definitely have allowed defenders to get back under them. For our sake I hope he can adjust mid season and fix that. I'm just... Skeptical he can. Fwiw I thought he was attempting to get the ball to the pylon too.
-
I can't even tell where the ball is supposed to be going from how it's thrown and the trajectory.
-
Nah man - I just dislike the double standard. I don't hate Bryce at all - in fact I like the guy. I don't think he's our QB of the future tho. But I can use clear, direct language to assess him and other players: "Bryce threw a bad ball that got picked." I don't need to say "The ball came out fluttering and the wind took it," as if the ball itself decided to just be a bad throw. For instance... TMac shoulda caught the ball. Not... Not the ball came out of his hands. Live I thought the ball was thrown too high but it was better than what I thought. Like I said.
-
Ahh I get your meaning there. Agreed completely
-
So call me crazy but given what I've seen NFL athletes do, I don't blame a defender from shoving a dude in bounds. I'm glad Bryce didn't get hurt there and he looked to be going out but the way these guys run I definitely think it's better for defenders to finish plays.
-
Making excuses. Come on, you can do it. Throw better balls.
-
I don't think we can blame that int on him. But he does seem to have terrible luck, such as slipping
-
Looked worse as a throw to me than it was, and I still said he should have caught it. Now where are you calling out Bryce's shitty fluttering passes he throws every week? Where's "Throw better balls"?
-
I'm not sure why you're needing to quote me over and over when I said he should have caught the ball already Edit: Not worth fighting Bryce obsessed fans...
-
-
I get we may force him to ride out his contract but I also bet there will be pressure to get rid of him if we don't pick up his 5th year option. You either pick it up or commit to moving on and try to trade him to someone that'll pick it up, imo
-
That throw is atrocious... Wind or not, the "spiral", ugh. I wish he could become consistent throwing the ball.
-
He's still young and has had some good plays. High motor can take you far as a young guy
