  1. Here are some reviews and analysis from the last two years you may want to check out, as someone that wants to keep up to date with the literature: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1470204508701736 https://bmcmedicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12916-020-01677-9 https://academic.oup.com/ntr/article/21/9/1162/4998035 https://academic.oup.com/ntr/article/21/1/25/4793346 if you need pdfs lemme know.
  2. I would have liked veteran depth behind Sam because although Sam is more or less a veteran in many ways, I think it is always helpful to have a guy like that on the sideline. But I don't think Darnold needs competition ... He knows full well that this year is do or die. And the team is going to ride with him as QB1, or replace him next year like they did with Teddy.
  3. It's possible but one thing that indicates rhule values a big time QB is moving on from Teddy after 1 year. As hard as we all are on Teddy he was a middle of the pack QB on a team without its superstar RB with a mid to bad defense. Plenty of excuses for a coach if they wanted to make them... And they didn't when it mattered, moving on from him.
  4. Just worth a note - NE does have QB coaches intermittently. I'm pretty sure they had a QB coach in 2020, they don't always go that route. Not sure what McDaniels is negotiating there but no doubt that's part of what their situation is now.
  5. I mean, if Mac Jones is unable to get it together, and no small part appears to be issues with mechanics... It wouldn't be crazy to wonder if that played a part. But, OC/QBC combo is a different matter from the Jets. wasn't Gase doing it all?
  6. Several other qb needy teams passed on Fields, too. I'm not saying that makes it a good decision, but we weren't picking 4th or something with him drafted 5th. I personally loved him, but I think it's clear there were a lot of concerns about him some of us don't understand or know. Rhule struck me as someone able to get the guys to play well above their abilities last year quite often. If he can do that again I think it's a real indication of his strength as a coach. QB is a concern but I think they've already made it clear they don't mind scuttling a multi year contract if one year isn't great. And Teddy wasnt atrocious last year, just mediocre... That wasn't good enough and is a promising sign for what the coaches want out of a QB.
  7. Does this mean we aren't expecting PJ to supplant Darnold anymore?
  8. Fwiw, the main value of preseason games remains for bubble players and next for determining 2nd and 3rd string. On topic, I've wanted to see more Darnold but him playing an extra series is not going to make or break his year.
  9. I don't think it's just Panthers media hype that has this draft class looking amazing relative to some of good ole Hurndog's. Too early to say too much but when was the last time it looked like we added multiple starters, with talent added to both sides of the ball? It used to feel like training camp was where Hurney's 2nd and 3rd round picks went to fall out of the league heh.
  10. I would have liked them to give the 'starting' O a second drive with a couple more throws in the red zone for Darnold. I personally am still concerned with the red zone. It's been a big issue for some time for this team, and while I'm not ready to burn everything down from one series, it just looked too much like what we've seen from the Panthers since we lost Cam. How many 4th and 1s did we fail to convert the last couple years? Feels like a lot... Maybe it isn't as many as it seems.
  11. uh, at least give Grier a chance to make a play, wtf.
  12. I'd like to see the starting QB get more game reps yes, lol
  13. is this a joke, one series, with 2 passes? lol Rhule.
  14. I'm fine with going for it on 4th with a run but would have liked to have seen a pass in one of the last 3 downs.
  15. Ahh okay, glad its not too serious then. Allergies to stings can be damn serious, good to find out when you or someone else is around so she knows for the future. Let's hope for a great game from all our QBs tonight even if neither of us get to be there in person!
  16. I may be getting a bit tired of your PJ schtick but hope all is well dude. Fun to shoot the poo with you on this board regardless of difference in opinion.
  17. Good for Wilson to get some confidence vs 2s. Tbh I think that is a good strategy on the part of the coaches for a young QB, especially on a team predicted to struggle in many aspects.
  18. I feel like as Panthers fans many of us have lobbied for long shots at QB... I still wonder what would have been with Matt Moore if the dude hdnt gotten a concussion -and then played with it - in 2010. Lol
  19. Jury is out, but promising compared to past OCs. Some great stuff between the 20s. Felt like he was limited by what we bad at QB, but he also struggled at times with situational playcalling. Or Teddy sucked ass at execution. Or both.
  20. DL in total feels a bit low. Chinn must be ranked as a LB and not a Safety here or he'd bring Safety up more I think and LB lower. Everything else feels fair/right. Receiver is very generous... But maybe it is right with our offseason additions.
  21. If the above happens against the Ravens 1s I will be ecstatic.
  22. I don't normally complain about refs but that game certainly advanced some conspiracy theories heh. But then again, Cam always got treated kinda crappy . Reminds me a bit of how centers in the NBA can be treated.
  23. I am a little curious and concerned how long Cam downplayed injuries he had, too, because we had "built" a team that required him to even have a chance. How long could his time as a Panther have been lengthened if he sits more games, especially earlier in 2018? I suppose we will never know if more permanent damage was done. I love Cam and the very nature of his competitiveness meant we needed coaches that could more objectively assess his health. Felt like it didn't happen. It wasn't 'just' a failure to bring in competent offensive coaches or skill positions or a line...
  24. I'm trying to temper my expectations since it is just preseason, but it does look far more promising than past regimes. Crazy to think we might get better production out of the 7th we got for Little than we ever did from him...
  25. I love your enthusiasm hahaha. Guess we will see.
