Wasn't just Slye. A lot of his running commentary was pretty insulting to other players, too. He even had a dig at Curtis Samuel at one point.

Hope his next landing spot is a fresh start and he leaves the yips in Charlotte.

I found the level of disrespect for a lot of guys struggling to make teams rough to listen to. On the other hand, some of his insight was unique and interesting. He can be funny without tearing people down... I'd prefer that route.

So... Sam Darnold. Are you encouraged or discouraged
mav1234 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Very encouraged. He started antsy, settled down, and showed very promising signs throughout. He'll make mistakes but he had good ball placement most of the time and made some big league throws, especially that last drive. Regardless of this was against 2s, he was solid, which is all we can ask for. But look, the real story is the OL is total garbage and barring some major change we are going to have a lot of trouble because of it. -

Darnold has an arm, and he doesn't need to chuck it 30 yards for the difference between he and Teddy to be clear. If his decision making improves, and if the OL can give him a bit more time (lol) he has a shot at redemption. -

Darnold throws a much harder ball than Teddy. We aren't seeing anything deep right now, but there's not been a ton of time to do so, but he has the ability to. He does need to settle in and get some mid range stuff going though. -

That was a nice play by Hartsfield. -

I don't care if they sit the starting skill players but the OL is a disaster and at least some of those dudes need to keep playing, probably with some shuffling of where. -

ok, that was a really nice play on Darnold's part to find Arnold -

can't really tell much about Darnold because any time we try to run a play that needs more than a second to develop Paradis spins in circles. -

he acknowledged the middle was pretty clogged too. I'm not sure empty backfield will meet with success with this offense. we've had success with the quick short routes just like last year, but at some point we will need to hit some deep ones. -

this OL is garbage. Darnold will be lucky to survive, what the fug. -

I get these are as vanilla play calls as you can get but come the fug on. -
For the talent we had, Shula was the most disappointing. Davidson was worse as a coach, albeit with less to work with. Henning... I don't really agree. I think he was kept far too long, but he was a big part of some of our early/mid 2000s successes.

Tbf Bills fans are basically known as some of the nicest NFL fans there are despite a rough exterior. The stuff the Bills Mafia does is really impressive. -

Pretty much this. The poo talking northern cities amuses me, as someone that has lived in both NC and the northeast. Edit: not defending Pittsburgh fans btw, lol. Many stadiums are full of shitty fans. -
Matt Rhule's QBs troughout his coaching career
mav1234 replied to JABANOG's topic in Carolina Panthers
The very fact we moved on from Teddy B Average is strong proof this staff thinks they need a dynamic QB to win. It doesn't mean they think we need Justin Fields, no. I think they just weren't nearly as sold on Fields as many of us were. -

Herbert was gone by our pick... And personally I'm glad he didn't trade up, his trades always seemed to bite us in the ass. -

I think this is fair for 2021 and even some of 2020. But man, Chinn just seems totally nutty, and D Brown needs to regress hard to be anything lower than a consistent starter. IMO if those two bust it's even worse because of how damn good they looked. YGM is still an unknown but showed potential.... -

The real test will be the red zone offense, where the field is condensed so harder to dink and dunk. -
Teddy Bridgewater named starter over Drew Lock
mav1234 replied to @bonafidebanter's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it was just as much the fact it was abundantly clear he lost multiple games with his inability to push the ball down the field. I don't think the coaches saw his arm strength magically improving, nor him getting some killer instinct.
