There was no indication Cam was a distraction in the traditional sense of the word in New England. Now, being unvaccinated can create a distraction for the team in the covid era, and that carries a large risk with it all things considered. And it seems that is likely why he lost his job. Cam is probably still better than some of the backup QBs out there, so it really depends on if he'd accept such a role, and if a team wants to risk an unvaccinated roster spot... He did. I didn't see him play but he has pretty good numbers... In limited time in 2 games he had 3 tds, 1 int, couple hundred yards and a high completion %: Game 1: 7/12, 96 yards, 1 TD, 1 int. Game 2: 9/10, 123 yards, 2 TDs, 0 ints...

I lived in central Massachusetts for years... Nobody knew any Panthers save some people that knew Smitty until Cam was drafted. Plenty of people would talk about Cam, knew about Cam, etc in the early/mid 2010s, and we'd talk Panthers etc, the games vs the Pats... So yeah. Cam brought national attention to the team.

However, if we're talking about how much the player is actually making across the duration of his remaining time here, it doesn't make much sense to look at only 2 years of his cap hit when it covers 3 years. That is what my point was a bit earlier, why I was calling out the 2022 numbers vs his cap hit, etc. ALL of this started because of an argument of if he is making $14.75M/year over the duration of the contract, lol, and my point has been all along that it isn't a 2 year contract but a 2 year extension. 2) You claimed multiple reporters, me, and other posters made up numbers. I showed you where they originated. That they weren't described as "cash paid" in the press is irrelevant; they weren't made up, clearly, as the likelihood of a bunch of reporters all having sources telling something that happened to actually be real but was actually fake at the time is nonsensical. Man dude, you're awfully aggressive. OTC confirms his cash paid per year is 12.5M in 2021, 13M in 2022, and 12M in 2023. I suppose the discrepancy is in incentives, no? edit: well and the way we're spreading the hit out over the cap, but you're talking about compensation vs cap hit I'm assuming.

@ToomersI think the difference is if articles are including potential bonuses in the total compensation or just his salary. It's possible in that way both are right, although I've not seen it listed what his bonuses actually are anywhere to know if they are hard or easy to hit... $9M+ is tied up in them, since everything agrees the guaranteed money appears to only be $20M.

That's from Charlotte Observer. The $29M includes this year's salary addition. He isn't getting paid $15M a year. In your over the cap article they even point out that, consistent with my link, he'll be getting about $13M in 2022 barring anything insane: "In 2022 Anderson will have a $10 million salary of which $8 million is fully guaranteed. In addition there is a $2.8 million roster bonus. " $10M+$2.8M != 15M edit: his cap hit is irrelevant to his ask and compensation. He's not getting *paid* $15M a year as far as we know right now. I've seen no link that lists his year by year breakdown as anything close to that.

He didn't get within 250k/year of it. The most he's getting in one season is 13 from what I've read. Early reports were a little off. It's a 2 year extension with added salary this year, I think. I think some of the jumpiness/ happy feet concerns others have said are a bit overdone. I think he definitely had that early but settled down, as you noted... It's understandable his first time playing at his new home stadium would have some nerves.

I like Minshew but his arm strength seems to be a problem. OFC he has been productive without that so we will see... Darnold has the higher ceiling, though, and that's clearly what we are betting on.
