  1. Lol, what? This is a message board. We are here to talk about players... Who says I'm not enjoying Sam's play? I can enjoy his play and be happy with his progress and still think he can do better and show more. I'm very far from a Sam hater. I want him to be the best QB he can be, and the best the Panthers could hope for. Doesn't mean he is there just yet, but I'm hopeful.
  2. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RodgAa00.htm Rodgers had 26 game winning drives and 18 4th quarter comebacks. That's damn clutch, especially since he didn't play for his first 3 years. Sam doesn't need to be someone else, lol. YOU brought up Rodgers. I just said I want to see Sam have to take advantage of situations in which he could lead us to wins. It'll show he's clutch, which I think he can be. The problem with Teddy was not stats or missing deep balls, it was the 0 and 8 or whatever it was on chances to win us games. Sam needs to be a person capable of leading this team to wins. So far, promising start. But I want more than just "better than Bridgewater". I want our own franchise leader. Not a copy of some other star player, just Sam Darnold showing he can be our guy.
  3. He also has 26 game winning drives. Nobody could argue Rodgers can't win the game when it's on the line. I'd like us to have the same with Darnold. With as good as our defense can be, Darnold may not get a ton of opportunities for come backs, but I'd love to see him shine when that opportunity presents itself.
  4. Darnold could use some 4th quarter comebacks, game winning drives, etc. Those are more important than stats alone. But I think they'll come.
  5. One reason this feels good is how he was being linked to TB. For years we felt we weren't a place players would want to go... Things have changed.
  6. A few of our OL look decent to good in run blocking actually. But pass blocking? Ugh.
  7. We seem to just "stick with whats working" until it doesn't, then take a few series after opponents half time adjustments to make our own...
  8. I think we are about to say goodbye to Urban Meyer.
  9. Ownership might have a light talking to about his behavior if he'd won any games or had a team that was showing real growth or potential... But you're right. When you aren't winning, everything else matters more.
  10. His scrambling ability is probably the only reason he isn't injured yet, heh. I really hope we find a solution to give him a bit more time. To the OPs point I feel he isn't comfortable in a clean pocket because it's hard to know how long he has to go thru his reads.
  11. He's showing impressive scrambling ability in general. I think the playmakers he has available are really opening things up for him... I'm hoping the chemistry he has with DJ sticks around after CMCs return.
  12. Darnold is on pace for more than 40 TDs... which is impressive. I don't know how you discount his rushing TDs in today's league. Especially with how we've struggled in the red zone last year without them... Sure, I would prefer passing TDs, but I'll take any TDs we can get in the red zone. Darnold does need to improve but every QB has missed opportunities... I'm excited to see how he grows thru the season.
  13. If it was more transparent I might get more into it, but as someone that is big on stats and data for my career, it just doesn't match my expectations and without transparency to see where my expectations are faulty I'd rather just not trust it
  14. Right, haha. This is very true. The thing about PFF is that it's basically an index. It's a way to take a qualitative/subjective assessment of various plays and stick a number to it. That can have some value, but it's still just a subjective opinion in the end that is dressed up as objective. It isn't. In general most pff scores over a season match what most fans think of players. But individual scores in a game are sometimes seemingly wacky, and it is likely driven by elements of how the subjective play assessment is translated into a numeric score we don't know... E.g. if Paradise had a handful of incredible plays that were blown up by someone else, his score may skyrocket despite the fact he occasionally looked like a rag doll, depending on how these values get calculated. Oh well.
  15. Darnold has accounted for as many TDs in 4 games as Teddy did in 8. In that time Teddy threw 6 INTs and had 2 games throwing over 300 yards. He averaged 40 yards less in the air than Darnold too. Darnold is unquestionably an upgrade. But he still does need to see the field better and make quicker down field reads. That's okay. This is a very promising start for his career as a Panther. Having things to work on isn't bad.
  16. Maybe because the situations are not even remotely close in any way shape or form. Please stop making me defend Urban Meyer.
  17. I don't know how anyone watches our games and can possibly come away thinking these two dudes are quality starters. I just don't.
  18. It's so hard to know who the blame on the OL given how bad they seem to look as a unit. But how theres 2 of em in our top 5.... I swear whomever grades our plays does it drunk.
  19. They beat a good Packers team and smothered a New England team that took TB down to the wire... I would say NO isn't as bad as the loss to the Giants, or as good as beating GB, but some place between...
  20. Does anyone have a gif or clip of this play?
  21. I don't know what can be done but it's ridiculous how it is handled now. If it is that subjective they should change the rules somehow. I would rather holding just be legal within some limits than this garbage.
  22. That's certainly possible. I suppose my perspective is bias from so long where it really has felt like we haven't prioritized the OL in a serious way for 5 or 6 years.
  23. Thats definitely a different look than the still. I'm not going to say better because ... What the fug lol
