  1. On the year he's still been pretty good. But the last 4 games (well 3.5) he's thrown 5 TDs and 6 ints. Still the dude is incredible and they'll bounce back next year
  2. The thing is, all our receivers were dropping balls all training camp .... Even from Grier and PJ. Why do that because you dislike Darnold? Did these guys really quit on the team before a single game?? And some of these drops are thrown perfectly... And, we had one of our highest number of drops vs Houston while we were still winning... No doubt some drops are on Sam, but some clearly aren't... I'm really wondering what's going on with our receivers coaching.
  3. Its crazy to say but I think our 2019 QBs could make this a playoff team. Of course I don't think we can win much with them but yeah... We've fallen far. That said...CMC changes the offense entirely... IF ( I know. I know...) He stays healthy, I think we can win a couple of our last few games and at least be entertaining occasionally on offense.
  4. DJ was weird last year too... There were a lot of comments about DJs effort last year and he actually dropped as many balls as he did in his first two years combined (and he basically doubled his drop %, it wasn't higher usage). I wonder if there is actually something on the O side of the ball, some way they are practicing or something, that has some of these guys down. Teddy had a lot of negative things to say about the coaches and I always assumed he was just being a sour ass, but now I wonder...
  5. Terrace is fine for a rookie imo given the OL and who is throwing him the ball. Won't be many opportunities to go to we #3 when the OL is a sieve and qb can't see the field. DJ was also having trouble with dropsies last year. It's worse this year, but he went from a couple awesome years to being pretty bad. It's actually why I think something else is going on than Darnold being at fault (he is for some, but not all)...
  6. We've actually won the time of possession battle in many of our games... Even vs Dallas... What we need is an offense that can put up TDs, too, and a QB that can be relied on once in a while to carry a game or half.
  7. On QB: LT to protect our attempt at a reclamation project, or QB to learn behind him and be therein case we aren't successful, were to me the smart choices. I do love Horn but yeah. On Sam vs Cam:. I did notice some weird similarities in the commentary about Sam as cam (like his first year or two... Lol, by the time he was in his fourth year he had done so much more than Darnold has) and you're right about the weird flip in posters defending Darnold that uses to critique Cam.... But I think these days even those of us very optimistic have given up on Darnold, we just don't see a point in shitting on him in every thread (not saying you do). Honestly I'm just hopelessly optimistic about every Panther QB for longer than I should be lol.
  8. I liked Fields but I think a lot of teams saw something that gave them pause... I don't really know what though. I think he can become a great QB. Not sure it'll be for Nagy, tho.
  9. I think he could become an OK backup for a decent team. But he's far too inconsistent to be a starter.
  10. I think we had 3 pass attempts over 20 yards. 1 completion. Need to do better for sure.
  11. Maybe with a week of practice PJ can surprise me. Ugh.
  12. If we think about a 1k yard receiver... That averages out to like 63 yards per game, right? In his first 7 games he passed that threshold 6 times and only three times in his next nine... His last 9 games look a lot like his yards with the Jets, but much higher usage.
  13. Robby before and with Sam in NYJ was the same dude. Now maybe the argument can be made that the QBs before Sam were also terrible. But still, Robby outside of with Teddy has been... Well, he wasn't the most reliable but he didn't drop tons of passes either. Last year, he really had some great games especially early. He and Teddy seemed to click. Not all of our incompletions are on the receivers for sure. But many drops have just been ridiculous.
  14. I actually think teams adjusted to him mid season but I'd need to check the numbers to be sure. It felt like his effectiveness declined after the mid point of the year.
  15. It wasn't great but it was essentially the same pre and with Darnold. You can't really look at these 4 and tell me you can pick out which 2 are Darnold: 55.3%, 54.2%, 53.8%, 53.4% ... And no the first two aren't without Sam and last two with... His usage with Teddy was also hugely different than with the Jets... His average yards per reception were 4 yards lower than at any point with the Jets (which were the same pre and with Sam).
  16. He never had issues like this with New York and Sam Darnold. Yes, he had one better season pre-Sam, but he had the same catch % and no appreciable difference in drops. Sam isn't really different than he was in new York (unfortunately lol) I don't know if we've seen evidence he's better with PJ. Guess we will get a chance...
  17. I watched a lot of Cam last year. He was terrible in a stretch after COVID, but not bad (better than Darnold for sure) before and after. On top of that he is still an effective running threat, moreso than Darnold. Buuut... He's not coming back. Even if the coaches wanted him I'm not sure he'd want to be here.
  18. You're right about the hot takes. Which ones are right or not seems a matter of confirmation bias around here though, hehe. This entire hospital ball thing started because of him, didn't it? (Edit: for Darnold, not in general)
  19. You may not realize this, but GameDay threads are for overreactions, lol. As I said later, maybe they are elite with more pieces healthy and we will see that soon. Here's the thing: our offense is bad. Period. Defense is not. But if you want to talk about the Cowboys game, we have to acknowledge the D gave up 14 points before Darnold unraveled. It's disingenuous to act like *Darnolds second half interceptions* caused the defense to falter in that game... It was the defense breaking open that happened first. That's ok tho. We can acknowledge Darnold sucks with acknowledging the reality the defense caved before he did. Doesn't mean that one game will define them over the season, but my impression (and this has been without Shaq and Gilmore and imo they were huge yesterday) is the defense comes up soft in big moments from multiple games. I am happy I was wrong yesterday! As to yesterday, Darnold did play better than his stat line... Better doesn't mean he would be adequate against better teams.
  20. Honestly, Abdullah looks like he can actually spell CMC on all 3 downs, too. I love Chubba but for now he's a 2 down back... A good runner, but he's not there yet at catching the ball. That's okay tho, he's done well for a 4th rounder imo.
  21. Okay sure he possibly could be except you're forgetting the one most important question Did he play for temple or Baylor? In all seriousness, if Darnold is going to miss time I hope they give him some looks in practice. PJ looks to make worse decisions than Darnold and that's saying something.
  22. I hope Ridley gets whatever help he needs, too. Even before this season I was happy with DJ over him... Gilmore was great in his first game for us overall. Just picking up where he left off as an all pro, lol. Ifhe plays at this level all year I kinda doubt we can keep him, but we will see.
