Cam Newton is now top 25 in all time Rushing Touchdowns

Why should I? You claimed Cam wasn't even top 10 in his prime, I showed you numbers that disagreed and you ignored them lol. In his prime Cam averaged seasons in the top 5 of all QBs. The issue with Cam is longevity, not performance in his window. There is absolutely zero chance that Cam is traded for any of those guys you list after the 2015 season... hell It's even unlikely he gets traded for any of them in his first few years either lol, because he was so promising. Now looking back, it's easy to argue a trade because of longevity. But Cam had one of the best rookie seasons for a QB ever and had several great seasons after it, and while still young, had an incredible MVP season. In his prime he doesn't get traded either. -

So you think only 2 players on this list are going to the HOF? Lol. -

this doesn't really track with the reality tho. you are projecting your own biases. the numbers don't bear this out... He was top 10 in his prime EASILY and overall often top 5. the only legit argument against Cam is longevity IMO. the rest is bias / preference. PFF's AV attempts to catch the value of every season of every player. it is far from perfect. but it is one quasi-objective way for us to compare the list of QBs you came up with earlier. so let's look at Cam during his pre injury prime and his peers during this same period (to address the bold, which IMO ended in 2015), and then up to 2018, which includes multiple injured seasons: did I forget any names from your list? -

this is 100% not true, and it has been shown before. but let's entertain this. so our RBs certainly would be pumping out those TDs when Cam wasn't in games right? Chubba has 4 rushing TDs on the year. He got 2 in his first 5 starts before Cam, 2 in his last few games with Cam. No noticeable difference. In the 5 games before Cam started, we had what, 2 rushing TDs? We've had 7 since he has started. His 5 are the difference LOL. In 2018, Cam missed 2 games; all 7 of CMCs rushing TDs came in games WITH Cam. In 2014, Cam missed 2 games; all 5 of JStew's rushing TDs came in games WITH Cam. Cam takes away from his passing TDs by rushing, not the RB carries. In fact, the ability for us to run an option offense may increase the potential of some of those RBs getting scores, because the lines they had to play behind have been so abysmal at times lol. -

The only season PFF records his "accuracy" numbers before his major injuries was 2018 where only 13% of his throws were considered bad throws, putting him in the top/bottom 10 of the NFL in terms of bad throw %. Maybe you assume his arm was worse than other QBs because you watched him more? Yes Cam missed receivers high on occasion and didn't always have the best touch, but he threw incredible balls and won us games with his arm all the time. as to an elite arm, you're moving the goal posts. He was an elite QB. Not all elite QBs have elite arms (hell for that matter a lot of them don't, lol). If you want to break Cam's rushing out from his passing you can, but that isn't what judges someone's status as elite... just your personal opinion of them. as to not being honest, most posters here would acknowledge he isn't a surefire lock to the HoF. You're the one that comes in here and basically says he wasn't a good QB lol -

can I also just say the narrative Cam was stealing from the RBs is nuts? 2011 - 1500 yards rushing by RBs 2012 - 1200 yards rushing by RBs 2013 - 1400 yards rushing by RBs 2014 - 1100 yards rushing by RBs 2015 - 1500 yards rushing by RBs 2016 - 1300 yards rushing by RBs 2017 - 1200 yards rushing by RBs 2018 - 1200 yards rushing by RBs (170 by DJ) reality is Cam as a rushing threat opened the offense up... similarly to how his arm does. -

he is the QB and probably the best player to ever play for this team... so yeah, you'll get some people thinking things a bit out of proportion for him. but he also has had multiple years of >4k total yards and >30 total TDs, and on some pretty not good teams offensively lol. Very often his only receiver remaining a starter the next year was Greg fuging Olsen LOL. -

man dude I dont get it... you act like Cam was a bad passer, he wasn't. He was a good passer, but where he actually shined WAS in crunch time for this team, esp as a passer... he's lead 20 game winning drives, 16 4th quarter come backs, and every single one of them relied on him as a passer as well. if you want to say cam right now relies significantly more on his legs fine, but his HOF chances will be judged by his earlier career primarily anyway. -

Players aren't evaluated by one dimensional contributions. Cam's rushing TDs are a unique aspect of his game; if it was so easy to replicate that we wouldnt have had so much trouble in short yardage without him. I think there's an argument to be made Cam could make the HOF but injuries derailed that rather than his passing numbers during his prime. He still may make it. As a side note, the fact you put Russell Wilson so low down your list is a bit odd given hes put up numerous 4k yard / 35+ total TD seasons. He is significantly better than the tier of players you put him near IMO and at worst in the second set if not often in conversation with Rodgers, Breese. -
For me? That an enormous losing streak and a poo job coaching 3 different QBs is enough for me to finally be done.
-
Wheels have completely come off. Rhule is beyond incompetent.
-
Better coached teams also commit less egregious penalties, probably because coaches teach guys what to do to avoid it being so obviously a penalty in real time.
-
Actually that's true, his comments made a ton of sense in light of the way the team played. It still felt a little too much like blaming others for his own fault (like the disaster of a throw in the red zone to a wide open DJ that one time that he said he wanted to check out of to a run but didn't have time lol). But the lack of practicing certain things made complete sense.
-
Either that or a family member. I think someone did some internet sleuthing and there was a lot of circumstantial evidence it was him or someone close to him.
-
The reality is this team needs everything to go right to have success... So it's easier to see the problems with officiating as costing us more, because we can't overcome any calls at all.
-
It's possible. Luke's the kinda guy that would never let us know that tho.
-
I just have trouble using the word coddled given the beating he took while playing, haha Rhule definitely isn't treating Cam well now though. I don't mind him acknowledging mistakes but it's starting to feel like he's blaming the players when it's clearly the coaches.
-
I kinda think Luke walks away regardless of the new coach, tbh. He and Rivera had a special bond, his health was at serious risk, he knew it'd be a couple years before the team was competitive for a championship (this is regardless of coach) etc etc. Even a good coach is probably not having the roster competing for a championship immediately... But ideally in the playoff hunt or playoffs this year. Ah well.
-
Not anymore, no. Not about the refs specifically, just in general. Tbh, our team is poorly coached and undisciplined. We don't get calls in our favor because of it.
-
The whole thing is a shitshow and I feel bad for all our QBs.
-
Eh, it's not that simple. NYJ wanted to pick the coaches coordinators or have a very strong hand in it... NY Post reported that Bill Parcells told Rhule not to take a job where he didn't have final say in his OC and DC. Which makes sense. Rhule is bad but so are the Jets. The problem isn't a HC picking their coordinators it's Rhule not being the coach people hoped.

Turns out Teddy was right. I still don't think he's a franchise guy but man he looks a lot better in light of this year's train wreck. Hope he recovers s oon
