Well in Samuel’s defense, he entered the NFL largely as a guy who worked out of the backfield in college. we were always a weird spot given we drafted CMC.

He would have created an immediate QB controversy here for a coach that doesn’t want that. but it’s not really fun to look at what it cost for other teams to acquire Mitch, Gardner, etc.

Sam’s arm strength has never been a problem. He is also a fine athlete. being slow with the ball and decision making have always been the Sam knocks. I thought Sam and the O actually looked pretty good when in the 2 minute drill on that final drive. Offense as a whole looked pretty subpar as unit outside of that final drive. And it’s a legit concern the OL isn’t ready.

1 - To see the extent CMC alters how the OL looks. 2 - To see the role they plan to give Marshall Jr early 3 - to see how Horn does with a offense capable of actually giving him a good test

You can protect 4 of the 16.

and there is an expanded practice squad. We should just throw one on the practice squad. And probably keep him distanced in this covid world. That why we don’t have to run a wildcat game if covid attacked the QB room.

2021 preseason summed up in 3 words. Terrace Marshall Jr

89 was a great football player. I think he tries and does some good things in life. I think he basically acknowledges he is a pretty shitty guy overall though. I don’t find enjoyment in 89 shitting on people. Because he doesn’t just do it a Talib. It’s universal. Claiming it is just the truth is a lie. 89 is just an asshole. It is what it is. you would probably rather have a beer in life with Joey Slye. Heck of a WR though.

It appeared PJ went into tonight with the edge over Grier. So I guess we will see. He put a lot of balls into people’s hands tonight… think people overheard 89 say he put too much heat on a ball and treated that as the end all be all….and closed their eyes on all the balls hitting guys in two hands. Which Rhule noted in his post game presser.

yeah, I literally just said the stats don’t tell you the story of tonight. The final drive as the half was about to expire vs backups….doesn’t erase the fact the O got handled fairly well by the Steeler backups for almost 2 quarters. The starting OL looks like a massive issue. And that was vs backups. That’s a bad recipe for Sam Darnold to be behind that. Lot of work is needed there IMO.

Outside of the Steeler backups pretty much handling our O pretty well for almost 2 quarters. stats and score don’t really tell the full story tonight IMO.

I honestly think 89 is more sad than funny most of the time. Just a turd. Awesome at playing WR though.

Slye might be gone. But the new guy I don’t think remotely solves the Joey Slye problem.

He isn’t terrible tonight. Chains aren’t moving because WRs aren’t catching. Will Grier knows the staff isn’t going to view that as PJ failing.

he just put up 3 consecutive balls that hit guys in the hands…all 3 could of been first down throws. One was little hot but overall that is the WRs not making a play

They have been getting preseason reps though Chemistry and time working beside guys matters on the OL. Brian Burns I think commented about how their is still a speed difference between practice and preseason games.

Being hurt all preseason isn’t helping Reggie. Not sure what his injury really is. Rhule called it chronic issue. Whatever that means.

89 being weird throwing that Richardson line in there. he is out of it IMO

definitely think Rhule errored by keeping this OL out of earlier preseason work. Steeler backups pretty much held the O in check until time nearly expired at the half. I completely forgot when they finally completed a drive that made them look decent….it was against the backup defense.
