  1. well, the last 2 years.....Justin Fields was largely regarded as 1b. or #2 at worst. and that is NFL.com reporting where the team scouts had Fields. Not me. I am a Trevor fanboy. I think he is Peyton 2.0 but more athletic and chill.
  2. According to Cynthia Frelund of NFL.com, about a quarter of the scouts actually had Fields as the No. 1 quarterback in the draft, ahead of even Lawrence. Frelund said she talked to about 16 team scouts, and at least half of them had him as QB1. Every board is different. Plenty of folks never came off Fields being 1b right there with Lawrence. Which is a position he road for 2 years.
  3. Lot of bad stuff goes on. I mean, the Patriots and Browns orgs are also recent examples. They knew what nightmares they had on their hands. Texans knew about Watson. NFL PR is NFL PR. Teams go out of their way to hide stuff and protect guys until forced to address it because of leaks or incidents. You most definitely can't believe anything teams or athletes say IMO. Well, when poo hits the fans and they are forced into some honesty.
  4. NFL players do a lot of fugged up things. They generally don't admit to it all when someone else is in trouble and dominating the news cycle. Watson is essentially the reminder. These dudes just play football. Even the squeakiest clean appearing guys...likely aren't.
  5. I mean, there is no doubt a lot of teams still have their eyes on Watson. Especially given the opportunity to get a steal if things fell the right way. NFL teams know fans forgive and forget. Big Ben, Tyreek Hill, Ray Lewis, Mike Vick, Leonard Little, and on and on. If Watson can get back on the field....teams will be interested.
  6. Some decisions that involve personnel are also business decisions. It it is a business first and foremost for Tepper. I think you are overplaying the current Panther PR that surrounds a green HC and green GM. I'm sure they have been given some rope to get started. But NFL teams have always been mom and pop shops. Tepper will be in the mix. That's just the way it is in the NFL. Degrees vary. But there is no such thing as an actual hands off owner IMO.
  7. Undefeated QB out there doing undefeated QB things!
  8. I mean, I would imagine that likely does factor in for every guy that isn't a roster lock. I think there are refs out there today too.
  9. Marshall has the best odds IMO of being the most loved rookie on the huddle. Lot of that has to do with where he landed and the position he landed in. WRs in today’s NFL have an easier time making a positive impact over other positions. Joe Brady can insert his guy into good opportunities….CMC, DJ Moore, Robby will all garner more attention/respect. Horn likely has a bumpy year one. DB is a really tough position to excel in right away. Or in general. Lot of great WRs. Hardly any great DBs. Especially in today’s NFL. And his game is going to have to be revamped. Which will take some time most likely.
  10. Once Aaron Rodgers hit his prime…he is basically an automatic winning season. Which is basically true for Russell Wilson, Brady and almost every elite QB in the NFL. Cam’s body failed him and the fact the NFL refused to treat him as a QB.
  11. Once Aaron Rodgers hit his prime…he is basically an automatic winning season. Which is basically true for Russell Wilson, Brady and almost every elite QB in the NFL. Cam’s body failed him and the fact the NFL refused to treat him as a QB.
  12. if Fields is great AND Horn is great and Darnold remains Darnold…..we still have egg on our face though.
  13. I will say this for Cam. His bread and butter was always working through the TEs. Belichick went out and got not one but two studs at TE......plus all their COVID hold outs will back. Plus, Cam will have a year in the books of what is largely regarded as a tough O to walk into. I certainly wouldn't bet against him if he stays healthy.
  14. low tier roster players are often fodder used to make points and examples out of. I mean, Jeremy Chinn could go all Ronnie Lott on someone.
  15. dang, corner didn't even have to lay out for it. Stayed on his feet after pancaking him and then turned to try to make a play.
  16. listen Bill Nye, I'm tired of worrying about muffed punts! What does science say about my blood pressure. I'm prioritizing my personal health here. * but your facts are noted
  17. 89 was still our primary punt returner in 2005 (the triple crown season) and when he wasn't returning punts our starting CB Gamble was.
  18. Crunch time the Ravens would put Hall of Famer Ed Reed back there.
  19. better players than them have returned kicks too. it's football. I have never really bought into the it's too big of a risk thing. CMC literally plays every snap already. I don't think playing certain downs where he mostly likely fair catches a ball is actually greater risk in the grand scheme of things. Just as likely to have his knees destroyed in a pile up IMO than hurt on kick returns.
  20. I said he was a niche player and we only used him that way one season.....which was 2020. You throw Samuel on the outside and ask him to do what Robby Anderson does and he will be weak. Because he isn't a pure WR. Playing from the slot and backfield is his niche. CMC being hurt and the addition of Robbie allowed him to fall into the role he was always meant for.
  21. Curtis Samuel is a bad dude. He just has a special niche you need to use him in. Which Carolina only did one season. We were always a bad landing spot IMO for him given CMC was also coming here IMO.
  22. I agree with this. It’s like moving Captain from nickel to outside or Samuel’s from slot to the outside. They were good players and frankly drafted to be a certain player. Then some years because we neglected other spots we move them out of their ideal spots….and it just makes them lesser players. We just need to go get a LT.
  23. Apparently this kid looked good. Also the #1 rookie jersey over Lawrence, Wilson and Lance. So I guess some people are hype.
  24. Modern day NFL. Spot fouls for breathing hard on players. Horn isn’t going to be allowed to do what he did in college though. And it is significantly more costly in the NFL to commit PI than college. He has has the tools to be elite. But he is going to have some growing pains most likely. Which is fine.
