  1. Actually, Verge has confirmed post draft the Fields talk was real and there were people inside the org that wanted Fields. The Horn side won the decision on the 8th pick. ...as have other insiders and reporters. and it’s a safe bet the Seattle GM was a strong Horn guy. And he is the most important vote.
  2. Plenty of reports that the Fields talk/debate was real. And yes, Fields being there did make our position more attractive to others if they wanted to our spot. Verge said the talk was real on Fields. So have local guys like Ellis and a lot of traditional NFL insiders (like MoveTheSticks and others) I lean there way over the picture a Panther employee is painting after the draft.
  3. The GM doesn’t speak for what everyone else thought. so when you say we thought Sam was better than Fields simply because we drafted him...that doesn’t actually mean everyone thought that. We just don’t who exactly the pro Fields people were. Got to think they were on the offensive staff/side though.
  4. Depends on how you define “we”. we know from reporting that some wanted Fields over Horn. And that was Fields was debated until the end. Which means it likely wasn’t just Tepper given he voiced he was going to stay out of it and let his staff do whatever.
  5. Can Shi Smith have 89 then? Cam Newton, the former league MVP, was the most impactful player in our franchise’s history. No other player expanded our fanbase or brought national eyes and conversation to this org in the manner Cam did. If Cam isn’t a Panther GOAT. Panther GOATs don’t exist. I fully support the staff keeping that number on the shelf in the same manner they have done for other players. You can pull it out when Cam retires.
  6. Where do you think they had Wilson on their BPA board? I assume they would have Trevor #1.
  7. yeah, based on top prior corners drafted that high....I think the bar is by year 2 to be playing at a Pro Bowl level (even if not selected). But as I said, I'll give him year 1 to take some lumps. Bar is raised on Brown this year too.
  8. okay. Barron edited out. I did use CB and not DB language. But he still a top 10 pick used to solve a DB issue.
  9. It was a list of every CB drafted in the top 10 over the last decade. Who do you compare a top 10 drafted CB to if not that collective group. I think you had to compare Cam to top 5 drafted QBs since he went #1 and so on. Same with Luke (top 10 LBs). With Luke you probably can take out the OLB that are basically DEs though. Don't see why guys don't compare because you deem their athletic ceilings different.
  10. I think his rookie year will be more Derrick Brown than Luke Kuechly. only difference is I think Horn will get more talk than Brown did and be under a bigger microscope by the fan base on a weekly basis. A lot of that is just the nature of the position. You stand out more on an island vs Julio Jones or DeAndre Hopkins.
  11. No doubt. I just cherry picked out guys that went top 10. I edited the post to add it was guys that went top 10 over the last decade.
  12. Corner is hard. I’d say the hope is Horn looks really tough in year 2. Flashes year 1. Think you have to give a rookie DB a year to take some lumps. He gets Brady twice, Matt Ryan twice. Given how much experience they and their weapons have? I won’t be hard on Horn learning some lessons there. Same with Dak, Murray and Allen given who their 1’s are.
  13. Last 10 years, Top 10 DBs. Pretty boom or bust. Gilmore being the lone exception probably. Some still have time but I wouldn’t put them on Gilmore’s path when you look at them early vs him early. He played out his full contract at Buffalo. 2011 -Peterson - Pro Bowler, year 2. Pro Bowl year one was returning. 2012- Claiborne -JAG, on 3rd team 2012 - Gilmore - Pro Bowler in 7th year with 2nd team 2013 - Milliner - bust - out of league 2014 - Gilbert - bust, new team by year 3 2016- Ramsey - All Pro/Pro Bowler, year 2 2016 - Apple - bust, on 3rd team 2018 - Ward- Pro Bowler, year 1 2020 - Okudah -TBD
  14. I think we end up somewhere close to .500ish. But my prediction is we manage to beat Tampa Bay once. And Tampa will be the best team in the NFC this year.
  15. well, I do think the manner in which he allows us to compete in games will be vastly different than Teddy. I do think Darnold is of the Jake mold. Clearly more athletic. All depends if Joe can get the good version of that out of him.
  16. I don't know if Darnold is the answer. I do think Darnold has proven to be good enough to at minimum have us compete in games and win some.
  17. well, I was just trying to highlight how the Brady pass offense by design spreads the ball around. Both in college and the pros.
  18. Joe Brady at LSU also had 5 guys with at least 45 catches. On 2 less games than guys will have next season.
  19. that doesn't mean anything. Jimmy Clausen was ahead of Cam Newton on the depth chart at this time in 2011. Moore should be ahead going into camp simply because he is a vet and the kid just got drafted. Simple as that. Doesn't mean anything right now. We won't have a clue about depth charts until they put some pads on and start working. The Seattle WR has never logged more than 400ish yards in a season. He is going to keep a talented rookie off the field if that rookie is ready and we hit on the pick. Look at Higgins, Claypool, etc last season. Should Moore of kept them off the field?
  20. that was not financial advice. Everyone should know not to be getting financial advice from someone on the huddle that promised you Dwayne Jarrett would be the truth. The best financial advice is on twitter, you tube, and tiktok. There usually will be a very colorful thumbnail that talks about going to the moon to indicate if it is the best advice.
  21. Well, he has two vet WRs in front of him. So there is that. CMC will eat in the pass game a lot with Sam. But the other side the coin is what Joe Brady does on offense. And that isn’t running an O with 2 WRs on the field all game. Look at last years draft. 2nd round WRs had no trouble getting up to speed with no preseason or offseason. I think the 300- 500 yard range is what he will do as a rookie. A situational roleplayer as a rookie.
  22. Elon Musk is going to touch his elbow on SNL this weekend and a bunch of people on internet are going to take that as a sign....and go crazy. * that’s not a suggestion you should buy Doge after Elon does anything on SNL
  23. and it isn’t a knock the player. But Aaron Jones is a bad dude. And GB already struggled enough getting him enough touches given they so heavily rotate in (the solid backup whose name I can’t remember).
  24. And what equated to a 3rd string RB with their 2nd rounder following the Love pick in the first....was GB really hammering the point home that year to Rodgers. We aren’t drafting and building to help presently.
