  1. greatest trade in NFL history was probably when a team essentially traded a first round pick for a coach that managed just one winning season in 5 years
  2. Depends on what the conditions are to quality for blockbuster. QBs are also valued different now than even 15 years ago. Giants gave up a lot for rookie Eli. That worked out. 2 first (Rivers), a 2nd and 3rd. Lot of big names have moved around in trades and it worked out very well. Compensation wasn’t bonkers though.
  3. OU probably owns the top spot. If NC State gets right's to Wilson? I'd be open to giving that duo the edge over that that trio. Wilson/Rivers stronger than two of your pick IMO. You throw in Jacoby just to make it an even 3 vs 3? Tough. I just said Clemson was getting in the mix. But don't be talking about Spencer Rattler and Sam "Biggest Thief in NFL History" Bradford. You don't see me bringing up Clipboard Jesus trying to pad the stats and talking about wonder kid DJ warming up.
  4. I'm sure somebody's momma is handy with a needle and can make me a bootleg one then. NFL ain't gonna be able to stop what we are doing here. Gonna have to make it a double order. Need one for Mr. Scott too. Thoughts and prayers to the random Panther fan with the common last name Watson whose favorite number is 4.
  5. Clemson getting in the mix. Will have 2 hyped up QBs leading teams this upcoming year. The Jaguars and obviously the Panthers.
  6. by nailed it, you mean clearly an exaggeration? I mean, we can both agree he wouldn't be coming here to a literal empty building. We would have some players. We would even have some good players. Some would call an exaggeration a lie. A socially acceptable lie maybe. But a lie none the less. So what I guess you meant in reality is Stewart is a liar. Watson 2021!! Triple stamp it, no erasies. Touch blue, make it true.
  7. today's hot take? I think we will know if we have a shot of landing Watson on draft day. Trade will have to of been partially worked out. Then when pick #8 hits....a QB they want has to be there and Watson situation hasn't gotten better. If he is there? Trade has a chance. It's basically ripping off PFF trade belief that Denver pulls that off at #9.
  8. clearly we are getting closer to debating the proper way to welcome Watson thread. Fans at the airport. Billboard. Plane that spells out stuff with that smoke stuff. Should be fun.
  9. well two of the biggest problems IMO are Cal McNair and Easterby. They both reside in the front office responsible for the shitshow. They are still part of the team making decisions. I'm not saying they will operate identically. Adding new people to work with the problem...I doubt fully solves Houston's problems.
  10. I think there are handful of throws that Mac Jones simply can't make in the NFL...that Trevor and Fields can. I honestly haven't watched enough of Lance and Wilson to judge their arm strength. Just what I have read. I'd feel more comfortable about an unathletic QB if he had a laser.
  11. well, the only defense to that.... is they gave away the best WR in the NFL (arguably) for a peanut butter sandwich. So Houston has shown the inability to acquire sigfnicant compensation for even the easiest of deals.
  12. I can't do Winston. I have too much dislike built up for certain players via rivalry and stuff I'd rather roll with the only undefeated QB in Panther history, Mr. PJ Walker.
  13. problem with Mac IMO is if you put Bama up against good competition.....his WR are still running around wide open too routinely. So you got an unathletic/accurate QB playing with the most talented roster in football. And Bama is that every year. Even when they lose. They are have the best roster. unathletic QBs are a dying breed IMO. You don't have to be Lamar Jackson. But you need to be able to extend plays. Brady's pocket movement/awareness is just absurd. I mean, most kickers are probably more athletic than Brady. Just a unicorn.
  14. yeah, also as a Clemson fan, I think it is a real conversation if he is being overrated. But that is in the context of does he really belong in that Manning/Elway tier. but he is still easily the clear cut #1 overall in this draft. Two different things IMO. I still think Watson was the better Clemson QB. But Lawrence has the better physical tools.
  15. Now, I think there is a conversation of is Lawrence being overrated. Given he is basically put in the Peyton Manning/Elway/Luck tier of a NFL draft. Trevor is easily the most talented QB in this draft. From a skill set perspective. And his on field performances. He is as safe of a bet as their is. Will his ceiling be as high as some predict? Well, the Jags will have a lot to do with that.
  16. well, yeah, math favors the the first round vs the collective next 6. But the overwhelming majority of teams that drafted a QB in the first round since 2000 drafted a bust. And better QBs were found in almost every draft in later rounds. But I get being risk adverse and especially when every lotto ticket we have bought has been a dud....I just don't have a problem with a QB lotto ticket in later rounds when you don't have one.
  17. just my preference, if you don't have a QB, you have to buy well priced lotto tickets sometimes. The history of non-first round QBs is not kind. I agree. But the first round is not that much kinder IMO. and if you make a list of the GOATs? I'd say non-first rounders would stack up as the most impressive list.
  18. No thanks. I like the gamble on Jones if he falls to our 2nd pick. I don't like him in the first and trading up to get him.
  19. well, I'm a believer that NFL draft history is what it is.....and you have to take certain calculated gambles. I'd take the gamble in the 2nd. NFL history pretty consistently says the top 4 drafted won't actually be the top 4 in reality.
  20. If Mac Jones was there at our 2nd pick? Yeah, I would draft him. Would be worth the value/risk there. I wouldn't make that my plan. Just if it happened to unfold where we missed out on everyone. First round? Nope.
  21. I frankly think we could get this deal done if we didn't own pick #8. The fact Houston doesn't know if they can draft one of the top 4 QBs in this draft with that pick IMO is what this will all come down to. you could sell the Houston fanbase on a new drafted QB aided by the most versatile RB in the NFL w/ loads of draft picks. But that QB piece is important.
  22. not 100 million. but all 32 starting QBs don't get that. if I had an iffy QB situation I'd bring Cam in on a 2-3 year deal. Like a Denver, Washington, Chicago, etc. Let him compete. Will be a good locker room guy regardless of how it pans out. If someone does beat him out Cam would drive that dude. I don't think you can pay Cam to be your QB going forward. Line up the 32 starting QBs in the NFL this year. He is still IMO better than many at the bottom. And there are 32 backups in the NFL and most of them had better deals than Cam last year.
  23. CMC is a great player. But it never made sense to bring in a college coach to rebuild this team.....and pay a RB a massive contract at the same time. That is a contradiction in logic IMO. I mean, yeah, CMC is a fan favorite and helps w/ butts in the seat. But COVID and his injuries really threw that in the trash can last year.
