I don’t think we are hiding the deep ball to uncork it week 1. Reporters have noted that Sam has been playing small ball all offseason. In practices that don’t have a lot of exposure. He basically played small ball for a half of football last night. I would imagine that is the plan for the immediate future at least.

Cam Newton. the MVP with these weapons? And he spent a career surviving bad OL play. and Reggie White. The GOAT of the DL. No one said it had to be their prime in Carolina. I’m bringing the Eagle version.

Slye will end up kicking somewhere else. Too consistent on KOs and too strong of a leg.

We do know things about Santoso. He kicked at Minnesota. He wasn’t a good FG kicker in college…they replaced him on FGs and he only punted and kicked off his last two seasons. He has bounced around the league for a half decade trying to kick. Titans let him be a kickoff specialist for part of a season….and he had a very low TB %. why would anyone assume that he can be an efficient FG and KO guy for the Panthers based off that?

seems like a bad gamble. He was more of a punter than kicker in college….and only punted his last 2 seasons. He has bounced around the league for a half decade and one team let him be a kickoff specialist for part of a season (and he was bad at that). if you are going to gamble on a young promising leg….you need to a actually find one.

Well in Samuel’s defense, he entered the NFL largely as a guy who worked out of the backfield in college. we were always a weird spot given we drafted CMC.

He would have created an immediate QB controversy here for a coach that doesn’t want that. but it’s not really fun to look at what it cost for other teams to acquire Mitch, Gardner, etc.

Sam’s arm strength has never been a problem. He is also a fine athlete. being slow with the ball and decision making have always been the Sam knocks. I thought Sam and the O actually looked pretty good when in the 2 minute drill on that final drive. Offense as a whole looked pretty subpar as unit outside of that final drive. And it’s a legit concern the OL isn’t ready.

and there is an expanded practice squad. We should just throw one on the practice squad. And probably keep him distanced in this covid world. That why we don’t have to run a wildcat game if covid attacked the QB room.

89 was a great football player. I think he tries and does some good things in life. I think he basically acknowledges he is a pretty shitty guy overall though. I don’t find enjoyment in 89 shitting on people. Because he doesn’t just do it a Talib. It’s universal. Claiming it is just the truth is a lie. 89 is just an asshole. It is what it is. you would probably rather have a beer in life with Joey Slye. Heck of a WR though.

It appeared PJ went into tonight with the edge over Grier. So I guess we will see. He put a lot of balls into people’s hands tonight… think people overheard 89 say he put too much heat on a ball and treated that as the end all be all….and closed their eyes on all the balls hitting guys in two hands. Which Rhule noted in his post game presser.

yeah, I literally just said the stats don’t tell you the story of tonight. The final drive as the half was about to expire vs backups….doesn’t erase the fact the O got handled fairly well by the Steeler backups for almost 2 quarters. The starting OL looks like a massive issue. And that was vs backups. That’s a bad recipe for Sam Darnold to be behind that. Lot of work is needed there IMO.
